Do you like slow burn domestic thrillers ? Katie Sise‘s new book - out last week - may be for you.
Georgia has moved her family out of New York City and home to her family home after her father passed but the move has not been good for her daughter or her marriage, is it the house ? Her mother died there when she was a child and her nanny died there just four years later, now her daughter has nightmares … maybe just leaving it all behind for a month will be beneficial and evening out the cost by renting out the house seems ideal but are things falling into place a little too easily ? And what about the renter Annie - why does she want the house and the break from her boyfriend so badly ? Why is she so interested in Georgia‘s family ? What is her connection to the house? As things start coming together you‘ll find yourself getting captivated and rooting for different characters - switching allegiances …
I listened to the audiobooks and the narrators fit the story and characters they were portraying well …

Thank you to @netgalley and @brilliancepublishing for providing me with an advance audio in exchange for an honest review !

The premise sounded so intriguing and good to me, but unfortunately it was so slow to start. It is a me problem, I need something to suck me in and keep me hooked. This one did not do it it was truly slow and too much character driven for my liking. I unfortunately had to DNF this one.

I did enjoy this book. It had a lot of twists that seemed to just keep coming. I feel like the whole time I was reading it was building me up for something big to happen, however, that something big never came. I would say this book is a 3.5 that I rounded up to four.

Slow to start, this is a novel that makes the ride worthwhile. The characters, while not entirely likable, were realistic. It was like peeling back an onion. The layers of character development within this story ran deep. Once the twists started coming, things got crazy real fast! With a clever and unique premise, this thriller contains some jaw dropping surprises that really bring the book full circle. Definitely worth a read for those who enjoy a well thought out book with deeply developed characters.

🎧 Audiobook review: The narrators were clear and concise, easy to follow and fitting to the characters they were portraying.

The story line of this book was really engaging and I enjoyed the dual POV. However, the author went into way too much character development in the first 30% of the novel and it was dragging, no action at all. It would have been better if we received the insight into their background as flashbacks or built into the story so it wasn't such a slow start. It is worth it to stick with the book to get to the action.

I really enjoyed listening to THE VACATION RENTAL. I became engrossed in the lives of Georgia and Anna. Told in alternating POV'S, I needed to find out how these two woman and their lives' intersected. It's filled with many surprises, some very shocking. All I can say is to add this one to your TBR. It was very good and just something different than many of the books I've listened to lately.

Many thanks to Brilliance Audio and NetGalley for my gifted ALC.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
I started this book off not too sure how I would like it. I was pleasantly surprised.
Anna and Georgia are the main characters of this story and it is told from each of their points of view. The switching between characters was easy to follow along with. There is some history of both of them thrown in as well. I found both of them to be very likable characters. Tom I didn’t care for at all.
Definitely some surprises I didn’t expect at all that made things so much more interesting.
This was a really great audiobook and I managed to finish it in less than two days. Once you get into it, it pulls you in and you can’t wait to see what happens next or what is revealed next.
Narration was also great.
