Before reading this book I listened to the "Lazy Genius Way" audiobook. If you haven't listened to that one, it covers a lot of this book but more in a philosophical way with anecdotes. I actually enjoyed that one a lot more. This one has great content theoretically, but the writing left me a bit lost and going in circles. I love the ideas but the presentation could use some cleaning up. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC #sponsored

Kendra is the best combination of best friend and wise aunt, who is supportive, funny, and somehow knows just what you need to hear.

This book should be read by every woman who finds it hard to prioritize her time or who is feeling overwhelmed with having to "do it all". I really appreciate that this book is written by a woman for women! There are so many practical things in this book and so much that resonated with me. We have been programmed that we have to maximize our time and multitask and if we don't accomplish everything we want, then we are a failure. This book really opened my eyes to what it means to be a woman and everything that is expected of us. I have already recommended this to a bunch of my female colleagues who are also moms - they have loved it too! I have sticky notes all over my mirror of things I took from this book as reminders that it's okay to not do it all - but to do what's important right now.

What a fantastic take on time management.

Of course books written by men don’t work for women.

Of course our hormones play a part in our ability to pivot.

Of course integration is more important than greatness.

Of course.

Of course.

I loved that she built upon her previous works.

I loved her conversational style.

I loved that she used lots of anecdotes (both personal, and from listeners).

I loved the weird references to our cycle and the seasons.

I will forever be frustrated with her unreasonable refusal to TELL ME EXACTLY WHAT TO DO.

Thanks to NetGalley and Convergent books for this abstract but helpful ARC.

I enjoyed reading this book, aimed toward female readers as most productivity-themed books are built on male-dominated systems and strategies. This was full of practical advice and action steps for getting life under control without getting sucked into the “productivity” obsession. I loved the PLAN framework she introduces—Prepare, Live, Adjust, and Notice—which feels simple but effective. Each step comes with thoughtful insights, making it easy to connect with where you are now and plan without losing sight of what matters.

The pep talks at the end were fantastic and felt like the perfect way to wrap it all up. Adachi really nails how to encourage without overdoing it. There’s a lot of good info here, and while it’s thorough, it doesn’t feel dense or overwhelming. The book’s focus on working with our natural rhythms and embracing “integration” over “greatness” is something I found really refreshing. It’s a great pick if you want practical steps and a realistic approach to planning that won’t leave you feeling burnt out.

I am a huge fan of Kendra Adachi and have been listening to her podcast for years. I was so excited for her new book and it did not disappoint. I love how she set up the book and recapped the chapters at the end and highlighted the most important parts. It is refreshing to read a time management book that didn't push being super productive and always striving for more. I also appreciated the chapter about planning based on your cylcle. It just makes so much sense. Highly recommend!

I'm a big fan of The Lazy Genius Way, The Lazy Genius Kitchen and most of all The Lazy Genius Podcast. I assumed when I downloaded this book, I would love it as much as all the others. But I found The Plan clunky to get through as an e-book, since it's not really written as a book you read from start to finish, instead it's more of a reference guide depending on where you find yourself in life. I thought I might prefer it as an audiobook, so I purchased an additional copy in that format. I did enjoy it more when I could get my Kendra fix of calming, "big sister" energy in the car driving to school pick-up or running errands. I found the chapters on Planning a Season and When You Can't Say No especially helpful and I will continue to reference other chapters as needed.

However something about the writing of this book felt more formal than Kendra's other books and her podcast pep talks. The Plan is a great time management book for women who want to take control of the chaos around them and in my opinion, best suited for women who are not already as familiar with Kendra's previous works.

I am a huge fan of @thelazygenius and had already pre-ordered Kendra's new book, coming in October, when I was picked for an advanced reader copy. I'll be thrilled when my hardcover comes in so I can mark it up. Kendra has so many great ideas. The last part of the book is little chapters of pep talks based on what you need, which is genius. Kendra’s new book, The Plan, is a must have for busy women!

I am a big fan of Kendra Adachi and have been for years! This book is great but almost too helpful! A little overwhelming with all the information but having a physical copy would be more helpful to be able to refer back to.

I’ve loved Kendra’s podcast, so I waited until I could finish the book on audio to get the full effect of her voice and storytelling. I thought this book was a thoughtful and helpful exploration of planning as it specifically comes to women. I found it smart and informative, especially with its noted differences between this book and other productivity books.

Thanks to NetGalley and Convergence Books for this ARC!

I’ve listened to Kendra Adachi’s podcast and her tagline “be a genius about the things that matter and lazy about the things that don’t” speaks to my soul. Her previous book, The Lazy Genius Way, made so much sense to me and had lots of practices I put into place. This book, however, was a little bonkers. She describes herself as having squirrel brain and that’s what this felt like. I love her so much and wanted to love the book but it just made me more grateful for her previous work.

This book just didn’t resonate with me. I love Kendra’s other books and love her podcast. I love that there’s a time management book from a woman's perspective and I think it’s good to acknowledge some of the things we have to think about that men don’t when planning their time, but it was a bit over the top for me with the whole chapter on periods etc. The acronyms and different processes also felt more confusing and complicated than her Lazy Genius Principles.

Coming to Kendra Adachi through her first book AND loving it, I was really excited to have the opportunity to read this. Unfortunately, it felt "icky" to me. I could not get past how much the author wanted to blame men and make us aware of our menstrual cycle. It just felt very off-putting to me. There were nuggets of usefulness, and I do very much appreciate her urge to listen to the season of life you're in and give grace to yourself. However, this is ultimately not a book that I have a desire to own or would recommend.

This wasn’t my fav of Kendra’s books (perhaps bc I’m so familiar with her podcast and her work) but I still think it’s an important addition to the Time Management conversation. Like she says, so few books about time management are written by women and this one is unapologetically female.

I love Kendra Adachi’s books and podcast. Her first book, The Lazy Genius Way, remains my favorite, but The Plan is full of helpful time management advice and practical tips from Kendra. She’s relatable, funny and I always enjoy the time I spend reading or listening to her. Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced ebook.

I am a huge Lazy Genius fan and this book did not disappoint! Kendra has such a knack for providing helpful advice while also allowing us to be kind to ourselves. This book is so different than other productivity books and I love that the “hustle culture” so prevalent in society today doesn’t have to be the only way to live. Kendra provides fresh ideas on how to live in a meaningful way instead of just checking items off a to-do list. I highly recommend this for anyone who, like me, is a Type-A recovering perfectionist!

Kendra Adachi’s writing is always a hit. She writes similarly to Jen Hatmaker in that her in-person voice comes across so vividly through her writing. This book is exactly that. A well-researched and actionable book about how today’s woman considers time management. It’s a long overdue topic written by someone who gets it. She does the topic - and the reader - justice..

It was fine...I really liked the peptalk sections though and I appreciate acknowledgement of bias and privilege. Not ground breaking though and not that practical for all women imo.
