This is now my favorite Daniel Hurst book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, especially with the hook at the beginning. It was thrilling to read and there were quite a few times I was surprised by the events in the story. The ending especially surprised me and I look forward to seeing if there is more to the story. The Irish setting sounds amazing for a family vacation, minus the crazy couple.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.

Thank you to Daniel Hurst, Bookouture, and NetGalley for an arc of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.

Another 5 star read! I am obsessed with Daniel Hurst. Every single book he writes is a solid 5/5 and this was no different. The story is about Shannon, a tour guide in Ireland, who is down on her luck and barely surviving paycheck to paycheck and the uber rich Conway family living in America: Rosalind, her husband Donovan, their son, Barnaby, and their nanny, Philippa. It's made quite clear that Rosalind and Donovan want to book a tour with Shannon, but things are not what they seem. They have picked Shannon for a specific reason and made her a financial offer that she simply can't afford to decline. Shannon has no idea the danger she is in or why she was handpicked from other tour guides, but one thing is for sure, this will not turn out to be a family trip full of lifelong precious memories, it will turn into an absolute nightmare.

If you've read anything else from Daniel Hurst, you know he is a master of suspense and tension. A little less than halfway I started to piece together why this family was targeting Shannon, but it can't just end there right? Not being only halfway through the book with a solid 40% left to go. HOLY MOLY! We have a Hurst twist of events. Just about the time the tension is easing up and you think everything is going to be ok....WHAM...hit again with another shocker and then another!!!! I loved how the story concluded. This needs to be in everyone's hands on May 31, 2024!

It was my first book from Daniel Hurst and I really loved it. It’s a great thriller with many twists. I thought I knew what would happened at the end of the book but I was shocked by the last three chapters. Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced copy (out May 31).

Daniel Hurst is a new-to-me author, and as soon as I learned about his books, I picked up The Couple’s Revenge which I really liked! If you enjoy books by Kirsten Modglin, Freida McFadden, and John Marrs, you will probably like Daniel’s books too.

I was excited to dive into his latest, The Family Trip which grabbed me right away, always a good sign. I loved the setting of Ireland. If I could leave now for a trip to Ireland, Id go. But I digree. This is the story of the Conway family.

Shannon is the tour guide hired by the wealthy Conway family to show them around. They want something exclusive and private. From the early pages, it’s clear that there is something weird between the Conways and Shannon, but what? You will be glued to the pages as I was!

Synopsis:

Everyone believes my husband Donovan and I have it all – a loving marriage, two adorable children and the dream house. But beneath the surface of our enviable American lifestyle lies a secret that binds us tighter than our vows.

I thought we could keep the truth buried forever, but I was wrong. To protect the secrets of my past, we have to go to Ireland to find the woman who has the power to shatter my perfect family. And I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to stop her…

Except my plan for revenge has gone horribly wrong. And now my eight-year-old son Barnaby is missing.

My body trembles as I scan the sunny spot where I last saw him. But there’s no sign of Barnaby’s blue t-shirt and sandy blonde hair.

Who has taken my son? I thought I was in control but now I fear this whole vacation was a trap… Can I save my family, or will our lives be destroyed forever?

This comes out on May 31.

I slowly am beginning to love Daniel Hurst books. Very similar writing to Frieda McFadden. This story line was very original and had good plot twists.

Another great story from Daniel Hurst. He couldn't write a disappointing book if he tried !! Twists galore and just when you think you know where the story is going...........................wham...................another twist that you would never have guessed. This is a book and author that I highly recommend .
Many thanks to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this ARC

I love hursts books and this one did not disappoint! Brilliant characters and setting with crazy plot twists! I hope to see more by these characters! The ones that made it out alive anyway. I would love to see how the main character progresses into book number 2! Please!

Wealth and secrets are the main plot subjects of this story. When they both collide who knows what will happen!

The story starts of with a lot of mystery and intrigue. I couldn’t put it down. Really enjoyed this one. One of my favourites for 2024! Thank you.

Donavan and Rosalind Conway travel to Ireland with their son, Barnaby, and hire Shannon to be their private tour guide. Shannon is completely unaware of their tie to her. She gets bossed around by Rosalind to make the trip flawless and begins to take a liking to Donavan who she comes to trust.

From near the beginning, we are aware of the gist of the plot here but without explanation of how everything comes to fruition. I was flipping the pages as fast as possible to try to unravel the details as I sat with such an eerie feeling the whole time. This book is full of scheming, murder planning, and truth seeking. Short & fast paced read, the twist at the end was shocking & I loved it!

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read this ARC. All opinions are my own.

Rosalind and Donovan have asked Shannon to take them on a private tour of Ireland with their son, Barnaby, and his nanny. But the couple has dire plans for the travel agent.
Daniel Hurst brings us another psychological thriller. I love that this author has been throwing 3-4 books/year at us lately, but the last few felt very mid. I'd be OK with only one good book per year instead... This felt drawn out, and the paragraphs were waaaaay too long, which is odd for a thriller and really slows down the pace. And there was way too much foreshadowing, unsaid things that had no reason to be not said. It takes way too long for anything to happen. And the synopsis is a bit spoilery and misleading. I thought it was too predictable, although someone who doesn't read a lot of thrillers might not, you will still have to suspend disbelief because it is slightly over the top. Even the ending dragged, piling predictable twist upon predictable twist, it was just everything but the kitchen sink. The reveals start at about 60% and just keep rolling from there. Did I enjoy my read? I did not not enjoy it, but my expectations were not met.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Definitely a trip to remember, this family will never be the same after their vacation to Ireland! This was a gripping story with several twists. It kept me on the edge of my seat! Really enjoyed it!

This is the 42nd book I have read of Daniel Hurst's, so you could say I am a bit of a fan of his writing. This was no exception, another evolving plot that had this reader gripped form first page to last and startled by the final twist that I really had not see coming. Thanks to Net Galley and publisher Bookouture for the chance to ARC this book.

This is one of the best books I’ve read this year! I highly recommend it.

Daniel Hurst is one of those authors where I will read any book they write and this is the perfect example as to why. While the blurb makes it seem like a story told many times, the actual story is quite unique. So many times I was quite confident I knew where the story was heading but each time I was surprised by a twist. I loved it from beginning to end and I would love a sequel to this book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

Wow
What another great novel by Daniel hurst.
I’m loving his writing just now.
I don’t know what I expected but it wasn’t what I got that’s for sure. Such a great read

This had everything that I was looking for in this type of book, it had a strong concept for a psychological thriller novel. I was invested in what happened to the son and how everything worked in the genre. It was terrifying and thought it worked well overall. I enjoyed the way Daniel Hurst wrote this and look forward to more.

I always read Hurst’s books as soon as they come out so I was happy to get this ARC! A couple hires a tour guide to show them around Ireland. The couple, their child and nanny fly from Boston to Ireland with an ulterior motive! I was hoping the twist wasn’t glaringly obvious. There were multiple twists so it isn’t all easy to guess. I mainly just enjoyed reading. I love his easy style of writing, and the ride was enjoyable! I could also picture the Ireland landscape as I read! If you haven’t already, read all of his books! Some are better than others which is to be expected. As an added bonus, his father is now an author! While his writing style is different, I enjoy his books equally as much! Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!

A family goes on vacation but all is not as it seems. What could the family be hiding? Why do they want this particular guide taking them on the tour? Who comes out of this alive? This was another great book by Daniel Hurst that I highly recommend.

The Conways hire Shannon, a tour guide for Ireland, but right away, you sense something's fishy. It grabbed me right from the get-go! Each character has their own thing going on, but it's easy to follow. Shannon just wants to make some cash, but she's bossed around by Rosalind to make everything perfect. The dual perspectives give us a peek into the Conways' scheming and Shannon's hustle to make it all work. And let me tell you, the twists at the end? Mind-blowing! Hurst has knocked it out of the park again with this fast-paced and fun story that I couldn't get enough of!

Thank you once again to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to read and review this ARC.

Daniel Hurst’s latest book The Family Trip had me on the edge of my seat until the very last page. Oh boy, was this a family trip that was set in Ireland, a place I’ve always wanted to do with a tour guide just like in the book but it makes me think twice now . Just kidding. Another fantastic 5-star book by the great Daniel Hurst. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review. To be published May 31, 2024.
