Daniel Hurst is the king of popcorn thrillers. His books play like a movie in my head and I always pick up the next one he writes.

This one is fast paced and twisty. Unlikable characters that I liked to root against. The beautiful backdrop of Ireland is the setting. If you are a stickler for your reads to be 100% likely to happen, then this book might not be for you. But if you just like to sit back and let the story take you on a journey and entertain you, you need this book. I read it in a day and did not want to put it down. I did not see that twist coming, which is my favorite type of twist.

I’d say don’t read too much about this one before you start as I find it a little hard to write about a twisty thriller while avoiding spoilers. There is dual narration, the American wife and the Irish tour guide. One good and one bad guy if you believe the setup. Of course I never believe anyone to be reliable in a thriller, so I’ll let you judge which one is which.

And that epilogue might just be hinting at a sequel.

A quick summer read that is the perfect escape. A family vacation where the family disappears.

In The Family Trip, Hurst weaves a complex tale filled with lies and deceit. It keeps the reader in suspense, while amping up the tension and has one guessing for the majority of the story. Dark and Mysterious, The Family Trip will appeal to fans of psychological thrillers.

If something seems too good to be true you can bet your bottom dollar it is.  Shannon O'Shea will discover the harsh truth behind this statement.

As a tour guide Shannon desires to take her clients to popular and unique places in Ireland. However, business policy prevents her from satisfying this desire. Broke and mired in debt starting her own tour guide business was not feasible at this time. So, she had no choice but to continue working for a boss who has no regard for his employees and who pockets all the profits. So, imagine her delight when a billionaire couple (The Conway's) contacted her requesting her services as a tour guide. The offer of 20000 would solve her financial problems but was this for real or was it a scam were the questions racing through her mind. Despite her reservations she accepts the offer, but she will learn that not every is necessarily a good one.

The Family Trip pulled me in from the first page. Throughout the story, several questions arose, the main on being the reason the Conway's hired Shannon. I had my suspicions, but unfortunately, they were all wrong. The reason for the Conway's making contact with Shannon shocked this reader to the core. From the outset it was clear they weren't likeable characters, but to   execute such plan was downright diabolical.

Shannon made some not so smart decisions in her dealings with the Conway's. Decisions, which added more chaos to an already tense situation. The story delivered several twists with the major one occurring near the end. That one left me gob smacked.

Overall, I found The Family Trip entertaining and suspenseful. This story will engage you with its twists and keeps you guessing.

The family trip was a whole trip for the reader! A fun thriller perfect for your vacation read.
A seemingly loving couple plans a trip to Ireland! But is there more to this vacation than meets the eye? This couple will do what ever it takes to keep the skeletons in their closet buried for good. But will their dedication to their own desires cause their son to get caught in the crosshairs?
Their clueless tour guide does her best to meet the family’s accommodations. Even when some request seem like life or death.

This was a fun little read. If you’re looking for a nice pallet cleanser or easy beach read this is for you!

This book pulled me in right from the start, and it didn't let me go until the very end. I love Daniel Hurst's writing, and this book did not disappoint. This story develops from dual POVs, and the entire time, I was gripped by the details and intrigued about how this would all come together in the end.

Full of drama, lies, deceit, and manipulation, the plot develops at a rapid pace. I finished this in one sitting, needing to know what was going to happen. In true Daniel Hurst fashion, he kept me engrossed in the storyline, frustrated with the characters, and pleased with the journey. This author is known for unexpected twists and turns. Even though there were a few I guessed, the unexpected ones were plentiful throughout this book. Right up until the end, I found myself shocked at what was being uncovered.

I loved that the setting was in Ireland, and I enjoyed the vivid descriptions of the scenery woven throughout the book. I always appreciate his short chapters, and the fact that each chapter ends with a cliffhanger that makes you feel you have to keep going. I really enjoyed this one.

What a great story with a crazy couple who aren’t above murder and an unsuspecting person though the twists in this one are so good that I am still thinking about them and what happened here.

Another cracker of a read from Daniel Hurst!
I adore this author's books, he has a fantastic ability to keep the pacing fast, and unputdownable. This book has that in spades.
There is so much intrigue and mystery around every single character, that I read it easily in just a few hours. I loved trying to figure things out, but I was blown away.
This is one of Hurst's best books in my opinion.
Fans of Freida McFadden will love Daniel Hurst, as he has a very similar writing style.

The Family Trip by Daniel Hurst is a suspenseful read that will have you racing to get to the end. Shannon is a tour guide in Dublin, Ireland and likes her job, but is a bit bored with it. Her boss has a set tour that he likes his guides to follow. Very basic and getting very boring for Shannon. When Shannon receives an email from a wealthy couple requesting her services she gets excited. The Conways want to hire Shannon for a 1 week tour around the best places in Ireland. They'll pay her $20,000 if she'll agree to do it. Shannon is worried that it's too good to be true, so she asks for a deposit before they arrive. When the $5,000 is deposited in her account she gets excited. She plans the most incredible tour for the couple..

When the Conways arrive on a private air strip on a private plane, Shannon knows she made the right decision. These people are very wealthy. As they're getting off the plane there is a couple, a little boy, and another woman. Rosalind Conway didn't mention anyone but her and her husband. Every plan Shannon made is for 2 people and specifically 2 adults! Shannon doesn't want to rock the boat as she needs the money so she is accommodating and makes the changes where necessary. As she starts to familiarize herself with the Conways they seem a bit off. Rosalind yells at her son and doesn't seem to want to spend time with him The other woman is the nanny and she's in charge of Barnaby., the boy. Shannon likes Barnaby and doesn't understand why the parents want the nanny to always take him elsewhere.

Why did the Conways really book this tour? Is there more to it than luck that Shannon got the gig? Why is Rosalind so rude to Shannon? Shannon has them doing some risky things on the tour. Will they all survive the tour? Will Shannon get her money? Are the Conways who they say they are? The suspense builds to a frantic ending with many twists and turns. Daniel Hurst has done it again as I flew through this book in a day. I rate The Family Trip 4 stars with a high recommendation. You won't be able to put this book down! The Family Trip is available now so go get it! I'd like to thank NetGalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy of The Family Trip in exchange for a fair review. #TheFamilyTrip

Fast paced and hard to put down, Daniel Hurst once again did not disappoint.

Filled with drama, deceit and lies, there is something here for any thriller lover. However it was the lush, descriptive tour of Ireland that held me captivated. I felt like I was touring right alongside this family.

If you haven't read Daniel Hurst yet do yourself a favor and pick up any one of his books. You'll be glad you did

Daniel Hurst did it again! I read this book in one sitting! Full of twists and turns! Daniel Hurst is the King of Thriller!

Another twisty psychological thriller from the master himself, Daniel Hurst. This time we meet Shannon, a young woman who works as a tour guide in Ireland and is subsquently hired by wealthy American couple Donavon and Rosalind Conway to give them a tour of Ireland's rich and remote sights and a holiday to remember.

It will certainly be that...for everyone involved.

Shannon is a struggling single woman trying to make ends meet after a disastrous relationship that left her both bereft and broke, after her boyfriend took everything she had. She works for a thankless employer doing (thankfully) what she loves - showing tourists the sights of her beloved Ireland. Although she would much rather show them the hidden gems rather than the usual trope people just come to tick off their bucket list.

And then she receives an email from Rosalind Conway, asking her to give them a personalised bespoke tour of the places Shannon has longed to show tourists - Ireland's hidden gems. It seems to be an easy ideal way to build her coffers again when Rosalind offers her an eye watering $20,000 for the privilege. All she needs to do is take a leave of absence from her current employer, telling no one and offer them the sights unseen by others who flock to Ireland's shores. Easy, right?

However this is Daniel Hurst and nothing is ever what it seems. Least of all, everyone involved. As usual, the cast of characters is but a handful and each of them are hiding secrets - some known to the reader, others not. But like all Hurst thrillers, he has but one more twist to throw in...after another and another.

As usual, a pleasure to read. I love Daniel Hurst and soak up everything he offers. Prolific as he is, though, I can't keep up...lol But I enjoy the journey nonetheless and this one is no different.

A family trip to Ireland. A handpicked tour guide. What could go wrong? You have no idea!

Daniel Hurst has written another popcorn thriller that will keep your mind spinning, trying to race ahead and figure out what will happen. You may be able to guess one or more outcome in advance, but I doubt you will get them all. That is what keeps those pages turning. Ultimately it is a "she said/she said" situation with Rosalind, the mother, and Shannon, the tour guide telling the story. Are there some OTT moments? Some gullibility? Absolutely. It wouldn't be a Daniel Hurst book without them. You can be sure that you will get an entertaining read.

The Family Trip is another twisty and compelling psychological thriller from one of my go to authors. This is a fast paced and thrilling read that has me gripped from start to finish. Like Hurst’s previous books there are lots of twists and turns that had me fixated on the story. Great characters that are developed well throughout the story . Being from Dublin I loved the setting if the story and could visualise all the places mentioned. Another superb read by this author that I highly recommend.

Thanks to Bookouture, Hurst has fast become one of my go to thriller authors, The Family Trip is my first five star read from him.

The plot is so gripping and full of intrigue that I flew through the book at breakneck speed. I had to know the motives for the Conway's specifically wanting Shannon as their host and what their intentions towards her were...they were nothing like what I was thinking!

I didn't like the Conway's whatsoever, their behaviour was abhorrent, instantly making them dislikeable. Shannon's character started off as a likeable character, but you just knew that she wasn't going to be all that...she wasn't, she was harbouring secrets of her own too.

The majority of the book is set in Ireland, Dublin to be precise and the authors descriptions made it visually appealing and a place I want to visit...I'll definitely be giving the tour guide a miss though.

I'm always amazed at the speed Daniel puts these books out at and they're always such good quality. He's a great bit of stuff. I read The Family Trip. in two days, between my shifts at work. I couldn't put it down. There were so many twists and turns (even more than usual) which kept me highly entertained. Now i feel like this has been left open for a sequal and I really hope I'm right, Mr. Hurst. I feel like Daniel is going from strength to strength as an author and I really do look forward to his releases.
