This felt drawn out. The pacing is very slow and took until 60% to build interest. Overall the twists were predictable and the characters were frustrating.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I’d like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘The Family Trip’ written by Daniel Hurst in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

Dublin-based travel guide Shannon O’Shea is contacted by Rosalind Conway who promises her a sizeable amount of money to arrange a week’s sightseeing trip for herself and her husband Donovan. But Shannon doesn’t know the real reason behind their choosing her and by the end of the week she’s going to wish she’d never met them.

‘The Family Trip’ is another first-class thriller by an author who’s fast becoming a favourite of mine. What starts as a pleasant trip arranged for a wealthy though thoroughly unpleasant couple with their young son and his nanny turns into a nightmare for Shannon. It’s well written with an ingenious plot that’s faultlessly executed with suspense, drama and twists and turns. As the plot progresses the tension increases until the conclusion is reached and the final unexpected twist revealed. The epilogue comes as a huge surprise and has left me wanting to know more of what happens to Shannon. This is an excellent novel that I thoroughly enjoyed and can wholeheartedly recommend.

This story had me drawn right in from page 1. Daniel Hurst always writes such gripping thrillers that I cannot put down. I really enjoyed the character building throughout the story, Shannon was probably my favourite. She started off so naive and by the end of the book she was a whole different character. the plot twist that happened around half way through the book made me just about GASP! after that it was twist after twist. I didn't see the ending coming to say none the less.

Synopsis - Shannon is an Irish tour guide and she gets an unexpected email from an American woman named Rosalind Conway who asked Shannon to arrange a private tour around Ireland. Shannon agrees to be the tour guide as the amount she was getting paid was too goof ot be true. Rosalind Conway meanwhile had specifically chosen Shannon as a tour guide for one main reason--to seek revenge.

Good points- from start to finish, the story was intense and gripping. The whole story in general was very well written and this was actually fast paced too, filled with unexpected twists and turns you didn't expect. The whole story is told by Shannon's and Rosalind's POV and as a reader, we get to know Rosalind's sinister motive in hiring Shannon. And as a reader, we wonder if Shannon might be able to get away from whatever ploy Rosalind and her husband was planning on her. The ending of the story was completely unexpected and twisted. This was actually a quiet page turner thriller and once you start reading this book, you wouldn't be able to put the book down.

Bad points - I didn't see much of bad points in this book. This book was that literally good.

Overall verdict - if you are fans of Freida McFadden, then this book would be a perfect choice. This is the second book I have read from this author and I already loved his novels. I cannot wait to read more from this author. This is a page turning fast paced thriller that will keep you up all night, filled with twists and turns--worth 4.5 stars.

Many thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC. The review is based on my honest opinion.

Shannon a tour guide in Ireland is offered a life changing sum of money by Rosalind to be a guide specific to the Conway group, but things aren't quite as they seem, something is a little dodgy.
Shannon is desperate for the money and Rosalind is determined and demands that this go ahead without any errors.
The twists and turns at the end are fabulous but hey it's a Daniel Hurst book, I wouldn't expect any less!
This book gripped me by chapter two and was fast paced and I could not put it down. This author repeatedly and successfully writes well paced psychological thrillers, guaranteed fantastic reads!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to have an early enjoyable 5* read.

Shannon is a tour guide in Ireland but wants to do more than just the touristy things. When she receives an email to show a couple from Boston the real Ireland she accepts and meets the couple and discovers that not everything is as expected. This trip would be a real adventure…..
This story with his twists and turns kept me entertained until the end. And with an unexpected end. Really enjoyed it.

The family that has it all, but do they? To hide their past they need a vacation, Ireland being the perfect place but why?
When Shannon receives an email asking her to be a couples tour guide out of hours, attached is a large fee which Shannon couldn't resist.. she takes a week off work., as asked she plans to take her visitors to the places no one really wants to go. Is this as easy as it seems? Rosalind is a hard woman to please and constantly puts Shannon down on her places of interest. Are Rosalind and Donovan hiding something.. Barnaby their son, warns Shannon to be aware of his parents!. THEY ARE DANGEROUS he tells her.. will she find out what is really going on? This is an exciting read, didn't see the outcome coming which is a bonus, well written plot, definitely recommend

In this gripping story, Donovan and Rosalind travel to Ireland with their son and nanny for a true Irish experience. For Shannon, a tour guide, this job seems like a perfect chance to pay off her debts and follow her dream of showing unique parts of Ireland. But as she gets to know Donovan and Rosalind better, she realizes their intentions aren't clear. Caught in a web of lies, Shannon discovers shocking truths about the couple, leading to an exciting and unpredictable ending.

The Family Trip is another thrilling read from Hurst, full of suspense and unexpected twists. This novel is a four-star page-turner that kept me hooked until the last page.

I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review

Another quick read from Daniel Hurst complete with the usual twists, confusion and easily escapable legal complications no matter the crime. These are great for when you want a light easy read and don’t mind an unconvincing plot and frustratingly naive main characters (in this case in the form of Shannon). The twists were reasonably predictable after reading a number of his earlier works … more psychological twisters than thrillers. Enjoyable for the purpose I was reading. Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for letting me read an advanced copy. His books are certainly addictive!

"The Family Trip" by Daniel Hurst is another thrilling 5-star read by one of my new favorite authors! Shannon O’Shea is working as a tour guide when she gets the offer of a lifetime. Rosalind and Donovan Conway offer Shannon $10,000 for a private tour around Ireland. After struggling to make ends meet following a failed business endeavor, Shannon can’t turn down the opportunity to make enough money to start over. Of course, nothing is ever as easy as it seems.

This story is told from the perspectives of Shannon and Rosalind. It is a very quick and enjoyable read. I thought I had it all figured out and was a little disappointed, thinking Daniel Hurst made this book too easy to predict. Well, silly me—I had it all wrong. The final twist took me by complete surprise, and I am glad it did! I can’t wait for the next book by this author.

Thanks to Bookouture, Daniel Hurst, and NetGalley for providing me with the opportunity to read this ARC and share my honest review.

How I love everything that Daniel Hurst writes, and this was no exception! It was hard to put down. Shannon O'Shea is a tourist guide in Ireland who is tired of the same old tourist sites and would rather go to the rare ones that hardly get visited.

So when a couple in the States want to hire her for an exorbitant amount of money to be taken to these "off the beaten path" scenic places, she's excited for the chance. Until she finds out that they have an ulterior motive! This is obviously the first in a series of stories, and I can hardly wait for the next one.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #Bookouture for the book #TheFamilyTrip by #DanielHurst. This book is about a mother and father who have adopted two kids. They are determined to keep their kids and not let them know about being adopted, at any cost. I read this book in one sitting and is absolutely phenomenal, just like Daniel Hurst’s books. Highly recommend.

I received an ARC of this book. I have now attempted a few books by this author and have not really enjoyed any of them, so maybe his writing is just not for me. To be fair, I also tend to struggle with books that have British or European settings and characters, so again, this may just not be a good fit for me. It is rare that I DNF a book, but I was tempted on this one.

This is my first Daniel Hurst book and I will definitely be looking out for more of his work to read. The book kept my attention throughout and the twist at the end took me by total surprise as I certainly did not see it coming. The epilogue left me wanting a sequel so fingers crossed for a part 2!

I planned the perfect vacation. But now my son is missing… Everyone believes my husband Donovan and I have it all – a loving marriage, two adorable children and the dream house. But beneath the surface of our enviable American lifestyle lies a secret that binds us tighter than our vows. I thought we could keep the truth buried forever, but I was wrong.

To protect the secrets of my past, we have to go to Ireland to find the woman who has the power to shatter my perfect family. And I’m prepared to do whatever it takes to stop her… Except my plan for revenge has gone horribly wrong. And now my eight-year-old son Barnaby is missing. My body trembles as I scan the sunny spot where I last saw him. But there’s no sign of Barnaby’s blue t-shirt and sandy blonde hair.

This had me from the first page, and kept me turning pages until the end. Lots of twists and turns, quick read. I love these popcorn thrillers! I just have to say—if someone offers you a job that seems too good to be true, maybe think twice before accepting it! I really enjoyed this and have added Hurst to my list of authors to follow! ❤️

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced digital reader's copy (ARC) in exchange for an honest review!

I know that I’m in for a real treat whenever I read a book from Daniel Hurst and his latest, The Family Trip, was no exception. This story was set in Ireland, a place that I’ve always wanted to visit, so that added yet another level of interest to this exciting and suspense filled tale. The villain’s motivations didn’t become apparent until about halfway through the book, and it was a shock! The real twist at the end was even more unexpected but it carried The Family Trip to a satisfying conclusion. I really enjoyed this book!
Many thanks to NetGalley for such a wonderful time with this ARC.

I planned the perfect vacation. But now my son is missing…

Who has taken my son? I thought I was in control but now I fear this whole vacation was a trap… Can I save my family, or will our lives be destroyed forever?

Daniel Hurst has done it again. Another read filled with twists that makes it such a great psychological thriller.

A family from America coming to Ireland for a family holiday seemed harmless until the husband and wife had a plan, but can they pull it off?

Shocks you through out right until the end.

While you think you have it all solved and what will happen a twist comes and just shocks you.

The ending but, I need more I need to know what else happens.

This book!!! The prologue had me instantly hooked. I immediately felt sketched out with the scenarios going on, so I knew it was too good to be true with the offerings. The first 60% of the book had me questioning so many things. I came up with so many theories and spoiler alert, they were all wrong! Twist after twist got thrown at me and the ending had me shook. I couldn’t believe it. I loved the short chapters and each chapter ended on a mini cliff hanger, so I had to keep reading. I devoured this book and finished it in a little over 24 hours! The characters had me so frustrated at times and I just wanted to help people out in certain scenarios.

Another great one from Daniel Hurst! His books are always such quick reads and are always really good. This one did not have such a surprise twist, I figured out what was happening really early on so I wasn’t shocked by it. Also I thought the description of the book was very misleading. The short synopsis really wasn’t what the book was about. Still, it was good and I enjoyed it as I have all his other books!

Thank you to the author, NetGalley, and. Bookoutoure for the advance reader copy. This is my honest review. Publication date May 31, 2024.

This is now my favorite Daniel Hurst book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, especially with the hook at the beginning. It was thrilling to read and there were quite a few times I was surprised by the events in the story. The ending especially surprised me and I look forward to seeing if there is more to the story. The Irish setting sounds amazing for a family vacation, minus the crazy couple.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the opportunity to review this book prior to publication.
