My most anticipated book of 2024 lived up to the hype! If this isn’t my favorite book of the year, it will be in the top three.
Mid-flight, a pilot has a widow maker heart attack while his second in command is in the bathroom, and the plane goes down. That would be terrifying enough, right? It gets worse - the plane crashes into a Minnesota nuclear power plant.
Worst Case Scenario tells the story of Waketa, Minnesota, and the lengths one person will go to in order to save others. Unlike Falling and Drowning, this story focuses less on the actual plane crash and more on the aftermath and the personal stories of survival for all the characters involved and how everyone is connected. It was both heart breaking and heart warming - I cried through the last 10% of the book, and it only takes one tear for me to give a book five stars!
TJ Newman has such visceral writing. I can’t think of any other author that makes me feel so many things in the span of 400 pages. She is truly masterful at what she does with words.
All of the trigger warnings and then probably some more - except no animals were harmed!
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for the free digital copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I finished Worst Case Scenario in one sitting! This book had me on the edge of my seat from the first page and never let up! It was an emotional roller coaster too. I alternated between feeling so nervous for these characters, gasping, having tears in my eyes, and cheering throughout this book. This fast-paced, action thriller has so many heartwarming moments and selfless sacrifices.
I loved Worst Case Scenario because it’s about the triumph of a group of ordinary people. They set aside their differences and work together to save each other, their small town, and ultimately the world.
Without a doubt, Worst Case Scenario is one of my 2024 favorites! TJ Newman's cinematic action thrillers are my jam!
A huge thank you to Little, Brown and Company for the early copy of Worst Case Scenario.

WORST CASE SCENARIO ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5. What a ride. In classic TJ Newman form, the book opens with a plane crash. This may be the worst of all 3 novels. The plane crashes into a Nuclear Power Plant. Not only is the small town of Waketa understaffed with man power and people, with miscellaneous parts of plane debris all over, it’s complete chaos that could essentially cause catastrophic failure to the world. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat, and there is so so much heart. I took off a star only due to the fact that some of the technical aspects were hard for me to visualize in my head, unlike the other novels by her. Overall, a great suspenseful read, with tons of heart. Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.

TJ Newman delivers another intense book that goes from 0 to 60 and doesn't let up until the very end. There were times that I had to stop reading and take a break because there is so much that happens throughout the story and it can be overwhelming.
Newman's other books take place on a plane before and after the crash. This book is different because the plane crash happens immediately but this story is about the people on the ground and the problems that it causes for the town of Waketa. The plane crashes into a nuclear power plant and everything that could go wrong, does go wrong.
I was so emotional at the end because it's a TJ Newman story...lol. She does a great job of helping you to connect with the characters and make them very relatable to yourself. You want everyone to have a happy ending but with disasters that typically doesn't happen.
Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!

T.J. Newman has done it again! Another suspenseful, edge of your seat thriller. Keeping on theme with her previous works, Worse Case Scenario also features a plane based plot where something goes wrong. This one has a unique premise that is definitely plausible. There is a touch of conspiracy theory as well which is right up my alley. Another unputdownable read by one of my favorite authors!
Thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Wow!! T.J. Newman does it AGAIN! Thank you to Netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC. I have read Newman’s previous novels & loved them both. This one was no exception either. I laughed and cried throughout this book. We start off with the pilot of Coastal Airways having a heart attack and the co-pilot in the restroom at the time leaving the plane fully unattended. The pilot is almost 300 lbs and the flight attendant is barely a buck 50 soaking wet. She cannot lift the lever in order to get the plane back into the air because his body is simply too heavy which causes the plane to crash. As the plane is crashing, it begins to fall apart. We have multiple POVs of firefighters, a family going to visit their loved ones home for Easter, the workers inside the nuclear plant. The more I think about this book, the more I loved it because it was so heart pounding, gut wrenching, grief filling. I know what it’s like to lose a parent, especially a mother so I know what it felt like for Matt to not have a mother then have a father who is the fire chief trying to save everyone as well. All of the characters have a special place in my heart and I truly connected with them in a way. I can’t wait to see what T.J. Newman comes up with next! (Just don’t make me cry again)

Wow another 5 star book for me I swear I can’t pass up a book by this author it reads like a movie and I can’t wait to see when her other books come out as movies. I will always buy anything this author writes

ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of Scenerio, I knew immediately I wanted to read it when I saw T.J. Newman was coming out with a third book!
Although the plot seemed pretty far-fetched for me Newman still has a way of keeping you on your toes and involved throughout the entire book. This is easily my second favorite book of the three books Newman has written and a solid 4 star read!

The pilot of the plane had a heart attack called a "widowmaker", while the copilot was in the bathroom and then the plane nose-dived right into a nuclear plant...
This is an action packed page turner of a thriller! I have said it for T.J. Newman's first 2 books (which I also absolutely loved) and I will say it for this one, if it were at all possible, this would make an amazing Bruce Willis movie that I'd absolutely want to see! Just when you think nothing else could go wrong, something does... when the author called this book Worst Case Scenario, she was not kidding. You would probably want to suspend disbelief for this one, but I was so engrossed in the action that I didn't even have time to doubt any of it. I absolutely recommend!
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Another fantastic and terrifying thrill ride from TJ Newman. A pilot has a widowmaker heart attack and dies while the copilot is in the bathroom. The plane crashes--into a nuclear power plant in a small town in Minnesota. Newman takes you on a horrifying journey of what happens next and the gravity of the situation. As in her other books, she takes us through the situation with multiple POVs: the people in danger (which in this book is literally the entire world), the people trying to fix it, and the people in government who sometimes impede the process. Newman makes you care about all the main characters in the book, and there are a lot. She also is able to make them different enough that I never thought "wait, who is this again?" and she made me care for them. I thought one storyline was a little ridiculous but it came full circle and I appreciate the point she was trying to make. I enjoyed the layman nuclear science--it's something I find utterly fascinating but have no understanding of it at all.
Overall, a great book. Many thanks to Netgalley and Little, Brown, and Company for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Worst Case Scenario was pulse pounding from the very start. I started the book immediately after downloading and didn't put it down until I finished. An airline captain has a heart attack while momentarily alone in the cockpit. No one else can get into the cockpit before the plane crashes into an aging nuclear power plant in rural Minnesota. Thus begins the race to prevent a nuclear accident capable of destroying much of the world. We learn a lot about nuclear science. While I didn't understand the science, the explanations conveyed the difficulties and realities of dealing with the disaster. The characters were well presented and relatable. I give the book 5 stars and highly recommend it. Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown for a copy of the book in return for an honest and unbiased review.

T.J. Newman does it again!! Worst Case Scenario is her third book and it doesn't disappoint. It is like a rollercoaster ride from beginning to end. I read it in 2 days.
The book starts with a bang when there is a medical crises onboard a jet airliner. The plane is hurdling toward Earth, destined to crash into a Nuclear plant. There are numerous characters who scramble to solve one life threatening problem after another. I was rooting for all of them. Ms. Newman does a great job of writing so that her readers care about her characters. The tension increases as the book goes along so you are on the edge of your seat!
I have loved every book T.J. Newman has written. I can't wait for the movie versions to come out!
Many thanks to the author and Little Brown and company for providing the ebook ARC.

Everytime I read a TJ Newman book, I don’t think it can get anymore gripping and jaw dropping than the last book that I read, but she proves me wrong everytime. Her newest book releasing 8/13 is no exception. Worst Case Scenerio is action packed from the very first sentence. The premise is a pilot has a fatal heartattack mid flight causing the plane to nose dive full speed into a nuclear power plant. The rest of the story is about how to save the town because it’s estimated that the plant will meltdown in 16 hours. What I love about Newmans writing is that each character whether they are a main character or a character that only appears in one paragraph-she gives them a voice, a perspective, and an important role inherent to the storyline. There were multiple times I physically gasped while reading the story. You think things can’t get any worse in the plot, then Newman throws a curveball that ratchets up the action and suspense. This book is graphic, informative, thrilling, gripping, jaw dropping, and puts you in the edge of your seat the entire time. Pick it up when it releases next month. Thank you Little Brown and Co and NetGalley for allowing me to read this fabulous book in advance.

What a tearjerker. I love TJ's books. While they one seemed the most dangerous to me, it still had all the elements of anxiety, fear, relationships, and sacrifice. It makes me never want to get on a plane again! An airplane crashes into a nuclear plant and the town is off trying to save people. Who will make the ultimate sacrifice? Bring the kleenex! It reminds me a lot of the movie, Armageddon.

I've been a fan of TJ Newman but this one did not land with me. I've enjoyed her airline stories and I'm glad this one didn't have a happy ending for the plane or a completely happy. ending in general. But this was much too science based. Normally her multiple POVs make sense and I like them but a lot of these were very reoccurring or limited to a single opportunity POV. It jumped around too much and got confusing at times. I wanted to love this but with all the science and POVs I was lost.

I've read and loved Newman's other books and was excited to see Worst Case Scenario available on NetGalley. I knew WCS would be an adrenaline ride but I wasn't prepared for what was to come.
In Worst Case Scenario, we are immediately thrown into chaos as the plane's pilot has a heart attack when no one can reach him. The plan ends up crashing into a nuclear power plant. There are multiple POV from various characters who are struggling with what is occurring all over town at this time.
I enjoy the fast pace action of Newman's books. This one was a little too much at points with the Nuclear Power Plant and radiation... had I realized all of that, I may not have picked it up at the time. But, overall it was still a good read. I can definitely picture it as a movie.

I just couldn't connect with any of the characters. Perhaps that's because the disaster really starts on page 1, so I had no bond with them before they were pushed to their limits. Perhaps it's because the characters all seemed ridiculously self-sacrificing. Or maybe I was distracted by all the necessary but distracting explanations of the disasters they faced and all the possible ways they could fix these problems.
The pacing was also weird for me. It was one crazy catastrophe after another, so much so that I didn't really feel a sense of suspense. I didn't really care how one danger was resolved because I just knew another would follow.
Finally, there were so many cheesy, eye-rolling moments and snippets of dialogue.
I guess overall it just seemed a flattened, sanitized Hollywood disaster movie.

T.J. Newman is back with another heart pounding thrill ride!
What would happen if an airplane full of fuel and people crashed into a nuclear plant? You are about to find out.
This is a story of that event and a bigger story of the ordinary people who came together to save their town.
The tension never lets up and I was exhausted when I finished the book. It is another work of genius from Newman.
NetGalley/ Little, Brown, and Company August 13, 2024

Thanks to Little, Brown & Company, and NetGalley for providing me with a digital advanced reader copy (ARC) of "Worst Case Scenario" by T.J. Newman, scheduled for release on August 13, 2024. I've read Ms. Newman's previous novels, "Falling" and "Drowning," and was thrilled to receive notification from NetGalley to read an advanced copy of "Worst Case Scenario." I couldn't believe my luck! Ms. Newman's story captivated me with its non-stop action and her exceptional talent for storytelling.
At the beginning of "Worst Case Scenario, the pilot has a heart attack, dies, and all heck breaks loose. Instead of the plane crashing into the ocean, it heads towards a nuclear power plant. The narrative is suspenseful, and there are various sub-plots. The characters are well-developed, and Ms. Newman did a great job providing their backstory. Thanks to this, I found the characters relatable and was not surprised at the choices and decisions made by several main characters. "Worst Case Scenario" is about family, death, destruction, loss, redemption, love of family, sacrifice, and the effort to save humanity.
The book includes many predictable events and tear-jerking moments, but overall, "Worst Case Scenario" is a great, engaging, and immersive read. I think Ms. Newman is a talented storyteller who can suck the reader in and never let go. "Worst Case Scenario" is gripping and intense, and Ms. Newman's novels get better and better. You can't go wrong reading a book by T. J. Newman, and I encourage you to read this pulse-pounding novel.
4 out of 5 stars

AMAZING! She can do no wrong, I will read anything she writes. High stakes, and very emotional. She gets better & better with every book.
