Adored this sweet, simple story that beautifully conveys the importance of putting the voices of folks who are suffering, instead of assuming that we can figure out what they need. Queen Bee's friend loses his pet and she immediately bursts into a flurry of creating treats for him and doing him favors and she's distressed and confused when he continues to be forlorn and upset. She asks her mother what might be the problem, and her mother gently reminds her that often people just need to be heard, need someone who'll listen. She takes direction well and immediately goes to Bow, apologizes for not listening before and asks him to tell her about his pet bird, Tweet. They sit together, Bow tells her about Tweet and lo... well, I won't spoil it for you. Suffice to say that listening to your friends helps a lot.
The illustrations are gorgeous and compliment the story so well. Both are understated, clear and direct. Very well done. Will definitely be sharing with loved ones! Hope it's in every library!

Recommended audience: ages 5-8 (grades K-1)
I loved the diversity pictured in this book and I really liked how the mom suggested that Beena just listen to her friend, rather than try to problem-solve.
Thank you to NetGalley, Lerner Publishing Group, and Priti Birla Maaheshwari for the opportunity to read an Advanced Reader’s Copy (ARC) in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

This is a good book for young readers. The sentences are simple for those trying to gain confidence in their reading. The story is entertaining and not just the old See Spot Run type of story. The lessons learned in the book about friendship and listening are lessons all young people need to learn. The illustrations are cute and don't overwhelm the page. I will get this book for my classroom library.

Thank you to Lerner Publishing Group and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book for my students. This was adorable early learner book that I really enjoyed reading and I think it teaches people about having compassion for others and how to help someone listen to others. I think if you need help finding a new early learner book series with unique characters, I recommend this. Because of these points, I have to give this a 4 out of 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
This looks like an adorable series that I imagine I would've been obsessed with around the ages of 8-10. What a fun book with a great message. And it's awesome that the heroine is not what I might've seen as a child. Diverse and special and beautiful.
Many Thanks again to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

Part of the beautifully illustrated and written Queen Bee series. In this story, Bee wants to console her friend Bow, who's lost a pet bird. Emphasizes the importance of friendship and learning how to support others in need. In this case, Bee tries to do everything to make Bow feel better, but it's not until her mother suggests she just listen to Bow is her friend able to heal. A lovely story!

This was a wonderful start to what is sure to be a sweet, relatable series for early readers. The book is only 24 pages, but it fits an adorable friendship story within those pages. I think the short length will also help beginning readers feel a sense of accomplishment upon finishing the book. I look forward to reading more books from this series!

Lovely little book. Great illustrations, to begin. A really fantastic transitional book from picture books to chapter books for young readers. A very neatly told story that teaches complex emotional intelligence to kids. Yes, your friends have boundaries and needs too! Great message.

This book was definitely excellent!
First of all, the colors of the drawings (and just the drawings in general) fit perfectly with the story, and they made me so happy. Another thing that I thought was great was the table of contents and the chapters, even though it was a short book. This helps kids feel more accomplished and more advanced.
The last thing I liked was the message. Bee tries so hard to cheer her friend up by doing favors and nice things, but nothing cheers Bow up. Bee's mom gives the advice that Bee should just listen to Bow, and it works. Then, Bow and Bee are happy and the story ends on a cheerful note. Awesome!

immediately this book hooked me in. it has diversity and a great story. bee wants to make her best friend feel better but she has to learn to listen to him as well when he’s sad. this is an easy to read book for kiddos who are learning to read longer stories and has a message of friendship and being there for a friend when they need you. bee is a good friend and a great example of how to be with friends when they need someone to just listen.
