So many twists and turns you wouldn't be able to put it down. Fast pasted thriller that will have you reading into the night to find out how it ends. Highly recommend. ***** stars.

It’s always a good idea to set aside some time to read a new book by A J Campbell and that’s what I did this Bank Holiday weekend. It turned out to be an excellent idea as I binge read this book in less than 24 hours, some of that time spent on a deck chair in the garden. Bliss!
I was totally gripped from the first chapters. Christina is driving home after a heart to heart with her twin Ted about her worries over her marriage to Michael, her second husband. She is concerned whether she can trust him after allegations made several months earlier by a 6th form pupil he was teaching even though the matter was dropped. Something in their relationship has changed since this happened. As she is driving home in terrible, wet weather she hears a thump at the side of her car and stops to see what she has possibly hit. On finding no sign of anything she continues home. Her children are home but Michael is not and he has not taken his car. In the middle of the night she is woken by two police officers who say that her husband has been the severely injured in a hit and run.
Christina immediately panics. Could she have hit Michael on her drive home? If so, if she voices her fears, would she be believed that it was really an accident? She had a large glass of wine with Ted at the pub, so if the police ask for a breathalyser test she may be over the limit. All these thoughts race through Christina’s mind and in a split second she decides to say nothing.
As one lie results in many more, Christina finds that she can’t go back without implicating not only herself but also Ted.
As the story unfolds I was gripped by the twists and turns of the plot. I never guessed the end even though I had plenty of theories and this story had me on the edge of my seat with its fast pace. 5 stars from me! Many thanks to the author and NetGalley for an ARC in return for an honest review.

Thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. Story kept me guessing, with enough suspense to keep me turning the pages. A very well written book, with a sting in the tail ending.

3.5 stars

Christina on her way home hits something/somebody on the road. She gets to know later that her husband was in an accident and the driver fled away. A misled decision then leads to the plot of the book.

A storyline with great promise and mystery as we not only see Christina trying to cover up the accident but also the secrets the husband has been keeping. As the story progresses, you start to guess what is actually happening because most mysteries that involve a couple lead to the same arc. There were red herrings given by the author into who else is involved so the final reveal was not surprising but kind of disappointing. Mind you it disappointed me because we didn't expect that to come from the said person.

My only hitch was the endless anxiety issues Christina undergoes every time. Sort of drags the line. Overall a good one time read.

I thank NetGalley and Bookouture for this E-Arc and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

What an absolutely outstanding read. So many times I thought I'd it all figured out and then more doubts set in. I was terrified for Christina, I felt like she couldn't trust anyone. I was doubting absolutely everyone in her family and not trusting them at all. Then BOOM along came that ending! A complete suprise which is shocking! Definitely will be recommending this book!

I love AJ Campbell’s writing style: short chapters that keep up the momentum and draw you in and the language and characters are always relatable. This new book does not disappoint with plenty of ‘clues’ and possibilities that have you thinking you might know what the twist is going to be. Chances are you haven’t got it right though. An easy read that I had to make myself put down so that I could savour the story rather than rush through for once! Happy to recommend this great book from an author that keeps getting better and better.

I received an ARC in return for this honest review. All views are my own.

Did I Kill My Husband
by AJ Campbell
Pub Date: May 29, 2024
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the arc of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The police officer’s voice is steady as he tells me the news. ‘Your husband is in hospital.’ My heart pounds. I think about my children, safely tucked up in bed. What will happen to us if he loses his life? And more importantly… do the police know where I really was tonight?
Everybody thinks Michael and I are the perfect couple. But everybody is wrong.
I’ll tell the police that I would never, ever hurt my husband. But will they believe me?

This is a heart-racing thriller that you won’t be able to put down! Perfect for fans of The Housemaid, Jeneva Rose and Shari Lapena.
I was convinced on more than one occasion I had this all solved and knew exactly who had done what and was completely wrong…. the sign of a great thriller….it is very cleverly written by this author
It is a very engaging story that once started I pretty much read in one go as there was little option not to as I wanted to know the outcome

I liked this book. I liked the short chapters and the cliffhangers after every chapter, making the reader want to continue just one more chapter. I did end up guessing the ending.

There was no real shock and the middle got a little draggy for me. While, a good read, not something that made me over excited for it.

Did I Kill My Husband, by AJ Campbell is a domestic thriller centered around a woman named Christina who is driving home in a raging summer storm and runs over an animal. She comes out to check, but can't see what she hit due to the intensity of the rain, and heads home. Later, two police officers show up at her door, telling her that her husband has been hit by a car and is in the ICU at the hospital.

The reader is taken through the story then through short chapters as Christina finds out there may be more to her husband than she thought as she peels the onion to her husband's life.

I liked this book and finished it in two days. It definitely was one of those where I stayed up to read the ending. I liked the short chapters and the cliffhangers after every chapter, making the reader want to continue just one more chapter. I didn't end up guessing the ending, which was great because there were so many red herrings placed in the novel. I for sure thought I knew who it was, but was completely off base!

There was no real shock for me as there are with other novels, and the middle got a little draggy for me. While, a good read, not something that made me gasp. Overall, well written and good storyline.

Overall, this was an enjoyable book that kept me guessing! The plot twists and turns were definitely surprising, with more and more secrets revealed in each one. I suspected almost every character and thought I had it figured out multiple times, but still did not at all expect the ending! Some parts did feel a little slow, but for the most part, this book had good suspense, held my attention, and kept me engaged. This was my first read by AJ Campell, and I would definitely read other books by this author! I do wish there was maybe one more epilogue chapter to wrap the ending up a little more, but that is just personal preference.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the privilege of reading and reviewing this ARC copy!

I love and adore this author and will read anything she writes...I don't even need a synopsis. Buckle up for her upcoming release because it's one wild ride filled with deception, heartbreak, and betrayal.

Christina is driving home after a night out with her brother, and the weather is horrific. I hate driving in the rain, and my anxiety levels were already up within the first few pages. Christina is a cautious driver who is paying attention to the road when she feels a sickening thump. Terrified she's hit an animal that is now lying in pain, she gets out of the car but sees nothing. Despite her misgivings, she drives back home, worrying the entire way. Soon after she gets home, the police arrive at her door to deliver the shocking news that her husband Michael has been the victim of a hit and run and is in the hospital in dire condition.

The narrative that the author weaves is filled with so much drama, yet the story doesn't read like a soap opera. Christina, fearing legal repercussions, keeps quiet about her accident, but the guilt worsens each day. When she starts to investigate why Michael would be walking on the side of the road in the rain when he was supposed to be home, she finds things that only create more questions. Did she marry a stranger full of secrets, or is she creating ominous scenarios where none exist? Emotions run high with this thriller, and the big reveal will leave you stunned!

Thank you so much to Bookouture and the author for inviting me to review this book that will release May 29, 2024.

I really enjoyed this book! I was surprised by the twists and turns. Just when I thought I had it figured out, something else happened. The title was interesting for most of the plot, but it was valid. Overall, a 4/5 star read!

A couple with a seemingly perfect marriage, Christina feels that Michael has somehow changed, and is unhappy about it. But would that be enough to kill him? The plot twists and turns, more and more secrets are revealed, and can family and friends be trusted at all?
I suspected each character in turn, and changed my mind frequently, and still did not see the ending coming.
I finished this book in one sitting, staying up late, as I HAD to know the ending.
A brilliant read.

Always love AJC books! This one kept me guessing until the very end. Couldn’t put it down! Character development was fantastic.

The story had some good twists but for the most part it dragged on. I ended up skimming the last half of the book. I didn't care for the writing style. It had a lot more telling than showing.

A.J. Campbell has done it again! I have devoured this book in less than 24hrs and in my opinion that says it all!
Filled with tension, twists and turns throughout. I thought I had it figured out but I should know better when reading one of Amanda’s books.
Go read it…NOW!

AJ Campbell’s ‘Did I kill my husband?’ is a psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the very end. Chrissy is driving through a storm when she hits something with her car… Little does she know that it will turn her whole life upside down…

I binged this book, reading the whole thing in one evening. I just couldn’t put it down. I was suspicious of every character, and multiple times thought I had figured it all out, but how wrong was I?! The final twist really surprised me. I was shocked! Well written, engaging and twisty - a true nail biter.

This is my first AJ Campbell read, but I’ll definitely be reading more, ASAP!
