A fun story about dinosaurs and friendship, with a focus on how to be a good friend and to make sure everyone is able to participate. A great lesson with the fun of dinosaurs.
The story flows well and the artwork is great.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Oh my goodness with all things cuteness!! We absolutely loved this story! The dinosaurs and their friends are the best-osaurus. The imagination and creativity that the story provided and then encouraged was so special. Thank you for this Dino gem!!
Thank you mamabear books and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
This was just such an adorable book to read. My daughter isn't fan of dolls but unicorns and dinosaurs and while I was surfing on Netgalley and she was looking over she noticed the book and I had to request it.
She loved every page of the book, the illustrations are so cute and beautiful and had such a calming effect, she was so happy.
I can't even even express in words how happy she was and how glad I'm to found this book. Hundred of stars.
Thank you so much MamabearBooks and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book for my students. This is an adorable picture book that discusses how to adjust what happens when you have a friend who may not be able to accomplish typical tasks but also it shows the pronunciation of all the dinosaurs pictured. I love it and highly recommend 5 out of 5 stars
I grabbed this one because we loved the bulldozer one so much. This one was a fun adventure as well! My kids favorite thing to do is to make it to the end to see what the next adventure will be. These books are super entertaining and easy to follow.
This is a really clever book that, through dinosaurs (which children tend to love and are very drawn to) teaches many lessons. In a subtle way it shows how everyone has different abilities and that doesn't make anyone better or worse. It also teaches children to pronounce the names of dinosaurs and the different types that exist.
I don't have kids, but if I did I would definitely buy this because in a fun way it explains how we should all respect each other and that at the end of the day the most important thing is to have fun.
The illustrations are beautiful too! Especially the children's faces are very detailed.
*Thanks to NetGalley uk, the publishers and the author for the ARC*
Adorable illustrations in this sweet story about that classic of children’s favorite topics - dinosaurs! So many things to love about this tale of kiddos befriending dinos… from the pronunciation guides to the dino names to the normalized inclusivity - when a game they’re playing doesn’t work for someone, they just work together to make it work for everyone… Loved how these kiddos collectively embodied the spirit of community and accessibility, with no fuss. Great story.
Definitely recommend this book for the kiddos in your life.
Thank you Netgalley for the digital ARC of this book.
I read this book with my kids and I loved the artwork as did my kids! The activities were all adapted for inclusiveness for the dinosaurs, which will definitely be a positive for teaching children to be more inclusive with other children who are differently abled. The names of dinosaurs included pronunciations which made this an even more interactive book and allowed my children the opportunity to learn new dinosaur names. It's short, silly, sweet and proves a child's imagination is bountiful and beautiful. Ashley Wall displayed that beautifully. So many subtle lessons for children are included and it's the best way to send a positive message. I will definitely be purchasing upon release, it will be a staple in our children's library!
Thank you to NetGalley and Ashley Wall for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
I can't really see the point of this book. It introduces the name of four dinosaurs to children, but beyond this the kids just go here and there and then they go home. Where did the dinos come from? Where did they go at the end of the day? Why did they show up at all? My child has questions and so do I.
I know a lot of little boys and girls that will find this book super adorable and will enjoy all the adventures Luke and his dino buddies go on. The underlying message of inclusion comes across very strong and is a positive message for young readers. A great addition to any library.
Thank you so much to MamaBear Books and Netgalley for the ebook to read and review.
Luke was playing with his dog when suddenly a T-Rex arrives in his garden, his friends all had dinosaurs arrive too, so they all had a fun play date in the park together, but the T-Rex struggled to do many of the things they were doing.
This was cute, I liked that it teaches persistence and to keep trying when or if you can’t do something first time or in the same way as others, but keep trying and you’ll get there. I liked that it showed children’s imagination as they are playing with the dinosaurs.
Children will really enjoy this book, especially dinosaur fans, they’ll be looking at the beautiful different colored dinosaurs illustrated into the book, learning a bit more about each of the dinosaurs. I enjoyed the cuteness of the children playing with the dinosaurs and it helped teach the children a little bit about them too. It was very imaginative and a good read.
Who wouldn't want to hang out with a dinosaur for a day? And what would make that better? If your friends had dinosaurs too!
That's exactly what happened in The Day I Had a Dinosaur. Luke and his friends have a dinosaur for a day and their day can only be described as one fun-filled adventure.
They worked together, they had flexibility for each other's strengths and abilities, and they made sure no dinosaur was left out.
Plus the illustrations are bright, attractive and completely approachable to the little reader.
Our little Dino lover gave this one two thumbs up.
This colorful and fun picture book is perfect for the young (aged 2-8) dinosaur lovers in your life. Four of the prehistoric creatures show up one day and a group of young friends take them on an adventure. Loved that the dinosaurs had phonetic pronunciations of their names along with their illustrations. A delight!
"The Day I Had a Dinosaur" is an absolute delight! This charming children's book is filled with vibrant, full-color illustrations that bring its imaginative world to life. I especially loved how it portrays the joys of childhood friendships and the boundless creativity of healthy imaginations.
Not only is this book entertaining, but it's also educational, providing fascinating information about dinosaurs through engaging questions that draw children into the story. It's sure to captivate young readers and make learning fun.
I can't wait to share this wonderful book with my niece—it's not just a captivating story but also a fantastic teaching tool.
Many thanks to NetGalley and MamaBear Books for providing this copy. All opinions are my own, and I highly recommend this gem for any young reader's bookshelf!
I really enjoyed reading this to my son, he was smiling and laughing when I would show him the pictures. The artwork is very cute and colorful. It was a perfect little story to read my son.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with this book for free in exchange for my review! All opinions are my own.
I thought that this book was a fun read. It teaches children that dinosaurs may not be that scary after all. I thought that illustrations were charming and the story was pretty easy to follow, and I enjoyed reading it - even as an adult, so I can imagine this book being a big hit with the younger readers as well.
Super fun read!

Adorable book about dinosaurs for young kids. Also shows kids how just because they can’t do something doesn’t mean they should give up.
Thank you to Netgalley and MamaBear Books for the E-ARC in exchange of my, and my son's, honest review.
A silly and fun book about what it would be like to have dinosaur friends for a day. There's a subtle message about inclusivity and acceptance of those with differences that I enjoyed talking about with my 4 year-old. The story had a nice flow and my son enjoyed reading it. Release date is June 11, 2024.
I read this picture book with my 6-year old, and it’s suited for a younger reader. The illustrations are colorful featuring four different dinosaurs and kids that look like bobbleheads. The text is fun typographically but the actual wording is a bit clunky at times. There isn’t much of a plot or moral to this story- the characters just go from playing in the park to playing ball and finally practicing yoga. T. Rex requires a bit of help but that’s about it. There was a missed opportunity to practice counting up to 20 in the hide-and-seek game. Overall, this is a fine children’s book for a toddler who likes dinosaurs.
Absolutely PERFECT for the kiddo in your life obsessed with dinosaurs. It teaches them the different names for the dinosaurs while also using a little imagination on how to be their playmates. Super cute.
