I learned a lot about Sacagawea in this book, it had the biography element that I wanted and enjoyed from other books like this. I thought Alana White has a great writing style and brought the legend to life in this book.

The author did well in explaining the role of Sacagawea in the exploration of the West. Sacagawea played an important role and helped Lewis and Clark. This book was very interesting, and I would recommend this to any history buff.

Sacagawea by Alana White is about the indigenous woman's role in Lewis and Clark's famed expedition to explore the northwestern United States. The book uses Lewis and Clark's journals and Native oral history as sources. It does a nice job covering Sacagawea's vital role while debunking some of the untrue stories about the expedition. It is a quick read and perfect for a middle school or high school student interested in history. Thank you to Alana White, NetGalley and Atmosphere Press for the ARC. #Sacagawea #NetGalley.

Sacagawea, a Shoshone Woman, was an integral part of the Lewis and Clark expedition in the early 1800's. This book describes her role during the journey as well as what might have become of her afterwords.

I found this to be a very informative book about the Lewis and Clark expedition as a whole. It reads like introductory material and would be perfect for a middle or high schooler just learning about this time in history or an adult, like me, who needs a refresher. Although the book is entitled Sacagawea, it really tells much more of the story than just her part. The focus is broad strokes and gives lots of information along with andecdotes about the entire expedition. It's written in an easy-to-understand format that is accessible to a variety of ages and is fast-paced enough to hold the attention of most readers.

Bottom line: If you enjoy history, or if you are curous about this time period, this is a great introduction to Lewis and Clark and, of course, Sacagawea herself. Read this book to learn more about a fascinating woman and an interesting journey of discovery.

A short novel about the life of Sacagawea, who joined the Lewis & Clark expedition along with her French husband in 1805. Sacagawea proved to be an invaluable aid to the Corps of Discovery & this book covers the scant details of her life.

Thank you to NetGalley, Atmosphere Press & the author for a copy of this book.

"Everything I do is for my people."

The story of the brave Sacagawea, a woman from the Shoshone tribe that helped the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is well known. With this book, Alana J. White brings us on a journey into that unexplored land, and through the relationships with the Native Americans living in those lands.
I would have liked more information about Sacagawea, but they are scarce to begin with.

This easy to read biography of Sacagawea reports on her life based on the journals of Lewis and Clarke and Shoshone Oral Tradition, There are many pieces of Sacagawea's life and journey that are still unknown, but this biography does a good job of filling in the gaps. This book will be great for students looking to learn more about this amazing woman's life and how she impacted history.

I read a biography of Sacagawea as a child and have always thought she was an interesting person who I’d like to know more about. When I saw this book I was looking forward to a deeper dive into her life. Unfortunately, it was pretty elementary. It reads more like a series of museum placards than a biography. Succinct, easily digestible information can be great, it’s just not what I was hoping for.
