Went into this book totally blind, so was a little taken aback for the first few chapters. The author did a great job with the story, I found myself sucked in after just a few chapters. I enjoyed the mystery and survival thriller vibes as opposed to the typical romance vibes. I will definitely read her next book in this series.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC, all opinions are my own.

NetGalley Review — my rating ⭐️/5
.
“Unwanted” by Mia Sheridan. How approximately named.
.
Harper is called in to work on a case involving a mountain man deep in the woods of her hometown…the same woods where her parents died in a car crash. What horrors lie in the woods?
.
It hasn’t taken me this long to finish a book since I picked back up the hobby 4 years ago. This was brutally slow, made next to no sense, and I didn’t get Mia’s charm through any of the words. There was a strange disconnect throughout the novel and for the first time, I won’t be recommending a Mia book.

Such a great read! I have never read a book quite like this, it was emotional and I loved every second, almost from page one. I read this when it was under a new title, and even though I was a little bummed because I thought I was getting a new book, I enjoyed my reread of it! This was a love story like no other! A a budding romance set against a backdrop of a mysterious storyline with so many surprises and plot twists. Lucas grew up in the wild on his own and truly should have been a savage but was so not!. His heart was so pure and so good. He had no teaching or influence from other people and yet the choices he mad were instinctively selfless and kind. I felt all his pain and the suffering and loneliness he had to endure in the wilderness made my heart ache so much. It was amazing to see the man he becomes despite the odds.

Savaged by Mia Sheridan has recently been republished and renamed UNWANTED.

I really liked the small town, mystery vibes. It's more romantic suspense than romance. I also liked the feral, backwoods element, especially when it came to the H, Jak. The h, Harper, was great in the book! She was gentle, patient, and understanding when it came to Jak. The both of them bonded quickly and discover that they have a lot of similarities. A couple twists reveal that they were are much closer / similar than they realize, and it's almost as if fate brought them together.

I liked the book but unfortunately, it didn't pack the punch I was hoping for. It could be a "me" thing. Overall, I thought the book was good, and would still recommend it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bloom Books for the eARC in exchange for my honest review! 3.5 stars

Unwanted by Mia Sheridan was a great slow burn romance that also is also a mystery/thriller that keeps you hooked from the start. I really enjoyed these characters, trying to decipher their actions and if what we, the reader, are learning based on how much the author wants us to know. The story captured my attention from the very beginning. Thank you for NetGalley and the publisher for a review copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I’m convinced Mia Sheridan can’t write a bad book. I loved Unwanted. I loved the crime/suspense aspect of it. I can’t wait to read the second installment!

'Unwanted' is a multi-POV (slower paced) mystery/thriller with a romance sub-plot. The story follows a young boy named Jak, Lucas (MMC), and Harper (FMC). While Harper lives in town, both Jak and Lucas survive year-round in the wilderness just outside of town.

When Lucas is brought into the local police station to answer a few questions surrounding a recent murder, Harper is immediately captivated by his ruggedly handsome exterior and kind eyes. As Harper continues to help local police solve the murder case, she finds herself more and more drawn to Lucas and his story. But, as their relationship progresses, she realizes that Lucas' story and her own story might not be so different after all.

I rated 'Unwanted' 3.5/5 stars.

Thank you so much to the author, Mia Sheridan, and Bloom Books for providing me with a NetGalley ARC of this book.

This was a great read! I would recommend it to a friend. I loved it! Five stars. This book is a captivating exploration of human emotions and relationships. The narrative unfolds through the lives of richly developed characters, each facing unique challenges and growth. The author’s prose is both lyrical and engaging, drawing readers into the story with vivid imagery and relatable experiences.

I’m an avid reader of Mia’s work & this book did not disappoint! My main gripes were: 3rd person writing style, too many POVs, and misplaced timeline jumps. It made me feel unconnected with the characters. Other than that, it’s a great story and still worth the read

I liked this suspenseful book. It was a bit intense at times and played well on my emotions toward the characters. The ending was cohesive and packaged up in a way that left me satisfied but also wanting more stories from the characters. Overall a good read and a good story.

Is there a Mia Sheridan book I do not love? Nope. It does not exist. Everything Mia Sheridan writes is beautifully written with emotionally driven characters and captivating stories I cannot put down.

This is hands down one of the prettiest covers I’ve ever seen. It was what pulled me into this book and I’m so glad. If you are a fan of Mia Sheridan other works than you will love this book too. It is a lot deeper than a romance. It has mystery, survival, and finding the people you need in life. This book was best going into it blind but I definitely recommend it to everyone who wants something different.

“That if we can hang on—survive—through the hard times in life, there is something better waiting for us. There’s a purpose we can’t always see. There’s an . . . order.”

“Did you know the trees speak to each other?” She wrinkled her brow. “No.” “They do. They tell secrets in their roots, those deep, dark places that can’t be seen. I think we’re like that too. We know things deep, deep down, secret things, ancient things, that whisper through us, one to the other. You whispered to me. And I whispered back. You heard, didn’t you?” Her heart beat with love for him, at the sweetness of what he’d said. She nodded. “Yes, I heard.”

"A heart-pounding, suspenseful, and supremely romantic novel from New York Times bestseller Mia Sheridan, author of Archer's Voice."

Thank you to Netgalley, the publishers Bloom Books and the author Mia Sheridan for this advanced book copy along with letting me review it. This is a five star romance mystery novel that releases Tuesday July 9th 2024. Mia Sheridan is one of my favorite authors. Harper is a tour guide in the pretty wilderness that is beautiful along with peaceful in the small town of Helena Springs Montana.

The mystery starts to unfold when a man is found dead in his cabin, Police detectives who are working on the case ask Harper to assist with her knowing the area very well that would be helpful along with being resourceful as well. They have a male named Lucas who is a potential suspect. Lucas reminds me of Archer from her previous novels. He is used to living a easy life in the wilderness that has him secluded from others while he is also vulnerable, sweet, lovable, and sensitive.

I loved this with reading it straight through from start to finish. I love the suspense view of it, but truly fell in love with the story of Lucas and Harper.

I wasn't sure how to feel about this one but it took me for a ride. I was into it from the start. NO waiting around here. And I couldn't put it down once I started. It's one of those page turners. I enjoyed it. If you like suspense I would give this one a try.

Unwanted is an emotional and poignant story with deep themes of self-worth and self-discovery. This is not just as romance, which is true for all of her books, but especially this one. While the pacing was slower at times ultimately the characters and their love story drove the plot forward and kept me coming back. Unwanted is perfect for readers who want a heartfelt and genuine romance with heavier themes that flesh out the story and make it one that’ll stick with you long after reading.

This book had all of Mia’s usual suspects: dark and twisting turns, visceral emotions, raw romantic scenes, and characters with lots of damage and/or baggage. Harper was a bit more naive than anticipated and oftentimes hard to relate to. While the same can be said about Lucas, I just wanted to take care of him.

4 stars ⭐️ for a suspenseful story, cohesive plot with a nicely packaged ending, intense/emotional/animalistic bedroom scenes, and sweet HEA where the characters don’t have a third act breakup!

Thank you to NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Mia Sheridan for an advanced e-copy!
