I have been lucky to be one of the early readers of this book. Thank you Freida, Mandy and Poisoned Pen Press!!
Well what can I say, Freida did it again. Making you think and guess who the real culprit is.. but I will give this 3.5 out of 5.
I will not spoil anything but for being honest I was very annoyed with Sydney's charater VERY.
But anyhow its a good read, a bit boring on some chapters but the thrill gets back right up.
Still, The housemaid remains my favorite book of Freida.

Freida did it again! This book was so good that I wanted to read it so fast becuase it was so good but then had to slow my roll never wanting it to end. Sydney a lovable but down on her love luck woman. She has a disastrous date with jerk and is saved by a night in shining armor. Who then disappears into the night…. Only to show up later and sweep her off her feet. Meanwhile a long time ago a boy named Tom is having some indecent and disturbing thoughts as he navigates his first relationship with a girl named Daisy. In the past and present people start to come up dead and missing. Oh my! What is the connection with the past and present? It all comes out in a very Freida way! I really thought I had it figured out at various times but I was wrong wrong wrong! I really enjoyed the at the book was slowly peeled back layer by layer and it left me just wanting to known what was happening. I really love the Sydney character and how much you are pulling for her throughout the book.

At no point throughout the book did I guess the ending. Or should I say many twists and turns. Which is why I love Freida’s books, they have this alluring effect of being so easy to guess how it ends and yet it’s never as it seems. And it always gets you so into the feel’s of all the emotions. It’s like a rollercoaster that you don’t want to get off till the end and you go over every drop, round about and upside down circle. I recommend picking this book up and reading it because you won’t out it down.

Another twisty page turner for Freida fans! The narrative was fast paced and engaging and while one of the twists was kinda foreseeable overall the ending was unexpected.

I am an absolute Frieda McFadden ADDICT. I read all her works back to back and was beyond thrilled to get The Boyfriend. Highly recommend! Will purchase for libraries!!

Frieda McFadden has the last-minute plot twist that no one sees coming. Sydney Shaw is trying to find "the one". After a bad date goes haywire when her date becomes aggressive she is saved by a random very handsome stranger that she never sees again. The guy though seems to show up at the same places she does including the funeral of her best friend after she was brutally murdered. A few months later she runs into the mystery man and soon she starts noticing similarities with her best friend's boyfriend (one she never met). Is he the murderer?

The Boyfriend had me glued to it from beginning to end. It is a fast-paced zigzagging slap in the face. I mean that in the best way!
Sydney seems like your ordinary 30 something woman looking for love. There were times I became so frustrated with her for not speaking up, yet I’m the same way. Maybe that is why I was frustrated.
The boyfriend is quite an interesting character who shared his point of view letting some of his odd emotions, thoughts, and background with the readers. I so wanted to like him and found myself feeling sorry for him at times.
I had so many scenarios in my head as I read, knowing I wouldn’t figure it out and I didn’t. That is part of the fun with thrillers. The ending was so unexpected and I loved it!
I’ve read several Frieda books and this is my favorite by far. If you are a Frieda fan or are someone who hasn’t read any of her books, read this!
💕Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for providing this ebook for me to read and review

WHOOOWEEE. Another fantastic read from Freida McFadden. My sister just read her first Freida McFadden book and she made the comment that she didn't care for it, because she couldn't seem to care for any of the characters. I say that because, I think she has a point. Most of the characters are flawed and while I don't always root super hard for them, I am nevertheless sucked right into the story. The Boyfriend was super creepy!!

I have to give it to Freida McFadden, she always gets me with the big twist. Every time I read one of her books, I think I've figured it out, but I haven't! That being said, this book was very frustrating to read because of the main character. Sydney is a 34-year-old New Yorker looking for love, and apparently that short circuits her logical thinking skills because there's no way she should be so trusting and naive. For her not to connect such obvious dots was astounding and made me want to throw the book against a wall.

_The Boyfriend_ by Freida McFadden is a fast-paced and suspenseful thriller told from multiple points of view and timelines. Sydney is a New York accountant looking for love on a dating app when she meets Tom, a handsome pathologist who saves her from a violent date. This chance encounter will prove to be both tragic and dangerous, keeping the reader guessing the true monster.

First, thank you to Freida, Mandy Chahal and Netgalley for the ARC!
This book is fantastic and easy read, I just couldn’t stop flipping the pages. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat. I really thought I had it figured out 😂 and then BAM, I was totally wrong! Freida never ceases to amaze me. I love her writing! She’s a genius

Once again, Freida has twisted a story so I didn't know what was going on. I was sure halfway through that I KNEW what was going to happen. Nope! She twisted it. I was surprised. Love it!

The Boyfriend By Frieda McFadden was yet another great psychological thriller! I read it quickly and it was constantly having me question "who did it?" the entire time. McFadden's books are written with an ease and swiftness like no other I have read. Her short chapters take you through each story at a fun and thrilling pace. There is always, always a twist that you never see coming. We will definitely be purchasing The Boyfriend for our library when it comes out in October and I cannot wait to recommend it to all of our patrons! Thank you for letting me read it in advance!

So excited to read the early release for the Boyfriend. As per usual, the book hooked me in. I thoroughly enjoyed the alternating point of view chapters. For once, I finally thought I had figured out a Freida book before the end, and of course I was wrong. Great read
I loved the paragraph about the turtles, made me giggle about the connection to The Coworker.
Lastly, I am unsure if this was intentional, but when Randy brought home the ant farm, I SWORE the twist would that Randy would really turn out to be Slug. Again, of course I was wrong, because Freida knows how to keep her readers on their toes.

Very excited for this title to come out and be able to recommend. McFadden’s writing continues to dazzle readers

I am a FM fan thru and thru. This book had me guessing as always - and as always I was wrong. I was hooked from the moment I started it and I cannot wait for everyone else to be able to enjoy!

I have to say this one is one of my new favorites by Frieda! The twists were perfection! When you think you figured it out , think again! This is one you can’t put down and stay up all night reading! The main character was so naive and that was a tad bit irritating personally for me, but I can see where it’s needed to make the story happen! I will be recommending this book to everyone I know!

This book was well written and kept a great pace. The storyline of where all the women are looking for The One wasn't exactly my type of reading but the twisty plot, psychological suspense, and surprise ending was awesome. All-in-all this is a great read that I couldn't put down!

Sydney Shaw, disillusioned by her past dating experiences, believes she has finally found her dream partner in a charming doctor named Tom. However, her newfound happiness is overshadowed by a series of brutal murders and a chilling pattern: the killer dates his victims before striking. As Sydney delves deeper into the unsettling possibility that her perfect boyfriend might be the prime suspect, the tension mounts, leading to a suspenseful and unpredictable narrative. The novel masterfully intertwines the complexities of modern relationships with a dark, thrilling mystery, keeping readers on edge as they navigate the fine line between love and deceit. Nothing is as it seems and Sydney realizes she can’t trust anyone.

New favorite Freida McFadden book here! Despite reading most of her books, I thought I had everything figured out. You already know how that goes, I was wrong and left utterly shocked! Great read if you need an edge of your seat, shocking read!
Thank you to Netgalley, Poisoned Pen Press (Mandy Chahal), and Freida McFadden for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
