I was skeptical about this, oh no here's another diet book that I will immediately believe and then eventually realize it is just a gimmick and I will in fact not lose weight or feel better about myself. I've read them all. One chapter into this and I realized it is not that at all. This makes sense! I have known a lot of information but it is presented in a way that feels right. I do suffer from inflammation and I have had tummy troubles for years and recently had my gall bladder removed. This information being targeted to those issues resounded with me.
I have loved the "How Not to Die" series of books by Dr. Michael Greger, but they are extremely scientific and at fiest very strick to follow. This book is like those but with baby steps. I don't have the desire to remove all good (yummy) foods from my diet. This is doable!
I started this 7-day challenge yesterday and feel wonderful today...no tummy troubles. Of course, it's too soon to know if this will help with weight loss, but it is helping with bloat and tummy ache. And that's only from ONE DAY!!
It is not extreme dieting or removing an entire food group from your diet (Keto). This is simple to understand and to follow. Most of it is common sense if you have any knowledge of nutrition. What makes this so great is that everything is broken down in simple terms with reasons why you should "eat this not that".
I still love Dr. Michael Greger's "How Not To Die...Diet...Age" books and will refer to them forever but this will be my daily go to. The 7-day challenge is a great way to kick start a lifelong healthy habit. I realized that adding a diverse variety to my salad that it could be a complete meal with protein, low calorie, low fat, no simple carbs that fills me up and keeps me full for a very long time.
I pre-ordered the hard copy of this today.

The Full-Body Fat Fix: The Science-Based 7-Day Plan to Cool Inflammation, Heal Your Gut, and Build a Healthier, Leaner You!
Author and narrator: Stephen Perrine

Stephen Perrine narrates his audiobook and his enthusiasm is appreciated for what could have been a semi dry book. When audiobooks have lots of recipes my mind can want to blank out on them, especially since I was on the treadmill while listening to this book. But, Stephen would be glad to know I was still listening well enough to catch that he listed "one small child" as an ingredient in one of his recipes. Couldn't catch me off guard, Stephen!

I eat a plant based diet with the regular additions of Greek yogurt and fish while I have chicken and beef occasionally. I already eat at least thirty different plants each week, way more than that actually, so a lot of this eating plan was not hard for me to accomplish. Still, because I'm as nerdy about the way I eat (along with my husband who often is the one who helps me stay on track due to a lack of emotional eating on his part) as I am about my other interests in life, I loved that this book reminded me of all the plants that I was forgetting or that I wasn't eating as much as I could be eating them. So this book has opened up my daily menu when it comes to plants and not getting into a rut eating the same plants over and over without branching out to others regularly.

This plan also relies heavily on whey protein which I've used from time to time. I have no interest in using it as much as Stephen suggests here but he offers ideas and substitutions for vegans and vegetarians. I do add a good amount of protein from the fish and Greek yogurt I eat weekly but I also get it from the combinations of plant foods I eat regularly and from plant foods that make up complete proteins. The reason I mention protein is because it's a very important part of this food plan and the plan focuses on getting the most protein at breakfast. That's there the whey smoothies come in, providing a more breakfast like protein meal base than most non meat breakfasts might provide.

Stephen explains why a wide variety of plants are so very important towards providing the gut microbes we need to heal our gut, keep it healthy, and reverse inflammation in our bodies. Lots of recipes are provided, lots of suggestions for eating out, also details for an exercise plan that will work towards losing less muscle as we age. After I downloaded this book I was sent a PFD with a detailed list of meals and places to get them while eating out. The many recipes and exercises weren't included in the PDF so that is where getting the print or digital book to accompany the audiobook would be a good idea.

For me, this book is a motivator even if I personally use much less salt and added sugars than are suggested in these menus and recipes. This is not a plan that tells you to never have this or that, instead it's steering you toward healthier choices on a daily basis. That's the kind of plan I can use to encourage friends and family. Really, it's easier than one would think to get in thirty different plants a week and this book will show you how easy it is to do while getting to enjoy some delicious meals.

"The Full-Body Fat Fix" is allegedly a "science-based 7-Day Plan to cool inflammation, heal your gut, and build a healthier, leaner you!"

It hasn't been 7 days yet, but I am not sold on the author Stephen Perrine's messaging.

Eating at least 30 different plants each week is in the author's 7-Day Plan. (Great suggestion!)

Yet, the author strongly advocates eating whey protein.

Whey protein is not a plant and, therefore, is a protein source that was off-limits to this vegan.

The author also advocates removing sugar from one's diet in this 7-Day Plan, yet he approves eating ice cream for dessert. (Huh???)

I listened to the audiobook read by Dr. Roshini Raj and Stephen Perrine.

The entire last half of the book was devoted to reading recipes.

Recipes are very difficult to transcribe when listening to an audiobook.

The audiobook was accompanied by a downloadable PDF that I assumed would include worksheets for the 7-Day Plan, recipes, and a list of the 30 recommended vegetables.

None of these were included. (UGH!)

Special thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was not the right book for a fastidious vegan seeking a full-body fat fix!
