My child and I laughed the whole time reading this story of a potential potato trying to figure out its identity. Other animals help the "potato" figure out it is by asking it questions, ruling out what it cannot be. This would be a great book for a unit about animals and their characteristics!

This was a cute children's picture book. Honestly, it's not anything revolutionary but it was cute so it has that going for it.

What could be worse than thinking you’re a potato. That’s exactly what happened to a whimsical critter in Ziggy Hanaor’s delightful lap-sit/toddler book, I Am A Potato. It’s brought to life with the cute illustrations of Elliot Kruszynski’s.

The story starts with a short furry animal announcing “I am a potato” to all his friends. Everyone is quite sure that this is not the case and one by one they ask questions to try to narrow down what our new friend could possibly be. One by one possibilities are eliminated. He doesn’t swim, he didn’t hatch from an egg, he doesn’t fly. What is left? That’s for the reader to figure out.

This book is a great conversation starter for parent and child. And by the way: Spoiler Alert??? – he is, indeed, not a potato.

The book was beautifully written. The author made careful word choices that were very impactful. Overall, the book was well written and I did really enjoy it.

Oh my gosh, a new favorite in my house! My 5 and 3-year-old were both enthralled and instantly asked to read it again (we are on read-through 5). It's educational and helps kids learn about animals and what makes them who they are while also being super silly. My kids said it reminded them of a pigeon story and loved how silly the book and pictures were.

This is a sweet little book about a mouse who think he is a potato. The illustrations were cute and the writing was simple enough for a child to read alone or with a parent. 🤓

The illustrations throughout are quite adorable and I think kids would enjoy this picture book. It was very subtle but adorable.

<i>I Am a Potato</i> is a lot of things: fun, silly, adorable, educational, dorky, amusing, and more! I really enjoyed reading Ziggy Hanaor’s short little picture book and I think a lot of children will, too. The story basically follows a young mouse who doesn’t have a great understanding of what he is as he is certain, at the start oft he book, that he is a potato. And so he and the other animals go on a little journey to figure out just exactly what this little creature is by asking a bunch of different questions to help narrow down the options.

I adored the trajectory of this book, how it teaches questioning to determine the classification of something. The characters were fun and adorable and the artwork was super cute! This is definitely the sort of book I’d love for most kids to have. A lot of the story is reasonable as far as readability for young kids, though you’ll have to help out with the longer words like mammal.

Definitely one worth adding to your shelf!

This was absolutely adorable! I love that it's such a good example of asking questions in order to figure out a problem. And it's also a subtle but fun way to show classification of animals! The illustrations were great - very simple, enough for a child to understand, but still engaging and colorful! Absolutely will be recommending.

This was such a fun read with cute illustrations! I think this is a great way to teach children the importance of asking appropriate questions and using listening skills when trying to figure something out. It also reinforces the importance of team work and being a good friend.

I enjoyed this so much that I ask my kids if they’d like to read it. My 7 year old read it to my 5 year old and they both loved it.

Rainy days call for coloring and kids books. We absolutely loved these sweet books! The illustrations were beyond beautiful, and the stories were so fun. My son loved The Rescues Best Day Ever, because his aunt fosters dogs so he kept saying “Aunt Carlie doggies!”. I am very excited to show my older two The World is Full of Nouns! Such a fun book for elementary school. Adis New Home was super sweet and I Am A Potato was so fun! What an adorable book! Easy to read and cute illustrations.

This is a good book to teach children what kinds of questions to ask to find answers.

I like how many animals get involved to help the creature figure out what animal they are.

This was the cutest book ever! I loved it and my toddler did as well. I think this is so fun and is a fun way to present how to determine what something is and how to investigate.

This book had me laughing from page 1. It’s a cute way to introduce a game of 20 questions. Great for teaching deductive thinking and so cute. The drawings are sweet. I was blessed with a free ARC, and I’m leaving this review voluntarily. Lighthearted and quick to read.
