A cute picture book teaching kids about the scientific method using a mouse that kind of thinks it was a potato.

This was a pretty good book. A small creature exclaims they are a potato, and right away someone points out this isn’t true. With help, this creature realizes they are an animal, but which one they are not sure. While this story moves along they meet more animals who are glad to help them get through this identity crisis. Once this story comes to a close this creature finds out what they are, and they are happy about it.

I am a Potato! is book about a small creature that thinks they may be a potato until the other animals help them figure it out. My 6 year old thought this was a cute store that kept her giggling and smiling.

Thank you netgalley, the publisher and the author for my ARC.

The introduction of deductive reasoning is a cool feature of this book but the striving for gender neutrality of a mouse was odd and felt forced. Plus kids will wonder why the mouse thought it was a potato in the first place. The illustrations were cute but simple. It’s just the animals on a mostly blank page (comic strip style)

Subtly genius in teaching young readers different scientific characteristics of animals, and how different animals fit into different categories. Adorable illustrations.

Thank you Netgalley for allowing me to read and review this book. These opinions are completely my own.

This is going to be the perfect book for my friend's son. An adorable book of 20 questions. Potato is also what I call babies, so it works

I just didn't care much for this - the illustrations are cute but the story just isn't funny or engaging. Not great for a read aloud.

I can’t read the title of this book without the soundtrack of TikTok. However, I think that makes this book even more fun than it already is. We have a thing that thinks it’s a potato. Animals gather around to convince this thing, they’re not a potato. But if they’re not a potato, what are they. This book is fun. It’s cute. The illustrations are simple, but perfect. The way the artist expresses the joy, the confusion, the wonder, figuring out what something is… it’s masterful. Kids will like this book and want to read it again and again and again.

I am a Potato! is a picture book about a small creature that thinks they may be a potato until the other animals help them figure it out. This one was so cute and had me smiling from page one.

I loved that it took kids through each step of classifying animals. It was a great way to make them aware of the differences between reptile & mammal for instance. The illustrations are fantastic & the animals had so much character!

Thanks to NetGalley, Ziggy Hanaor, and Cicada Books for the chance to read and review!

Thank you to NetGalley for this e-copy of I am a Potato by Ziggy Hanaor in exchange for a honest review. This is a cute, funny , inquisitive book that propels children to ask questions. This little furry creature thinks he is a potato but when he asks his 4 friends- dog, cat , bunny and penguin , he realizes he is not. They help him find out his true identity through a series of questions. Perfect for the preschool set who are naturally curious.

This is a cute book for a read aloud. I see it more for young readers than my third graders. The illustrations were cute and the story will keep the attention of little kids.

The title sold me on this one.
The science teacher in me adored it.
It is a good way of entertaining a kid for a short time but also a way to help teach problem solving and SM questioning.

My child and I laughed the whole time reading this story of a potential potato trying to figure out its identity. Other animals help the "potato" figure out it is by asking it questions, ruling out what it cannot be. This would be a great book for a unit about animals and their characteristics!

This book is hilarious and will be such a fun read aloud in libraries and classrooms! The animals help one creature discover its true identity with a series of 20 questions questions. Spoiler: it is not a potato
