I loved this so much! I loved this the first time I read and it had so much fun rereading this. I love Katy and Daemon so much especially in the beginning. This has so much angst and I live for it.

I really enjoyed Obsidian, the first book in the Lux series. I read it years ago and again recently as part of a book club and will be re-reading the whole series. It’s the kind of book that you can get lost in and just enjoy the story as it unfolds. There are twists and turns that will have you guessing or ‘sitting on the edge of your seat’ but that’s what makes it so good. Katy (the main character) moves to West Virginia right before her senior year and meets her interesting neighbors, Daemon and Dee. Daemon is rude to her (and the reasons unfold as the story progresses) and Dee is an absolute gem. I love Katy’s spunk – she had me cracking up throughout the book. Thank you Entangled Publishing and NetGalley for the eARC!

I had a great time reading this book! It has an awesome paranormal world and a vast array of characters that keep the story wild and interesting. I can't wait to start the next book in the series!

In this first installment of the Lux series, we follow Katy Swartz a book blogging high schooler who recently found herself being the new girl in town after moving to a town in West Virginia to start over with her mom after loosing her dad. Shortly after arriving Katy meets Daemon Black- more like demon... if you catch my drift and if you’re a fan of The Vampire Diaries you might just find yourself thinking you just found the next Damon Salvatore, but I digress. While Daemon is easy on the eyes and may light a fire in your soul, his attitude might just extinguish it. After Katy finds herself in revolt of Daemon’s attitude. Katy runs into nonother than Daemon’s twin sister Dee. Dee is sweet, bubbly, and everything Daemon is not and wants nothing more to be Katy’s friend. And after meeting the Black’s, Katy’s life will be forever changed after she uncovers the mystery surrounding the Black’s and their triplet friends. The last thing Katy would have wanted or expected was to find herself stuck to Daemon in the fight of her life.
Obsidian is the perfect slow burn of enemies to lovers with a dose of thrill mixed into every chapter. I went into reading this book blind as I did not read the synopsis before joining the read-a-long and I’m so glad I did! Going into this book blind I was able to uncover the mystery that is Daemon and Dee Black and form a love for Katy who I can’t help but relate to with how book obsessed she is, and her sassy attitude that Daemon brings out in her is the best!
Thank you Entangled Publishing for providing me with an e-arc of the newly designed edition of Obsidian and the opportunity to participate in the read-a-long with others who love reading just as much as I do. I can’t wait to snag a copy of the beautiful hardcover when it comes out July 2nd.

I don’t normally read Alien romance or even anything close but this book was so good I couldn’t put it down. I loved the banter between Kat and Dameon. Plus Dee was a great friend to Kat and that showed throughout the book. I’m excited to continue this series and see what happens next.

Katy moves to WV with her mom and ends up living next door to Daemon and Dee Black, her alien neighbors who somehow manage to put her in more danger than they keep her out of. This book gave total Twilight vibes in the best way.
I love how snarky Katy is - she can dish it out as well as she can take it. Also, she’s a reader and part of this book felt like a love letter to every BookTok and Bookstagram account in existence, and that made me so happy. Dee is one of those friends who you always want on your side - bubbly and willing to help you with whatever you need done. Daemon is my newest book boyfriend - a little bit of a broody asshole but hot, protective, and supernatural.
I absolutely devoured this book, and immediately jumped into book 2! It’s going on my reread list for sure.
Thank you to Entangled Teen, Entangled Publishing, and NetGalley for the free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Obsidian was an entertaining read. It was refreshing for me to read this since it is the first book with aliens that I have read. Although I enjoyed the plot and the characters, Obsidian is one of those books that I know I would have been obsessed over if I'd read it when I was younger (I'm mourning for the teenager me for not being able to read this then. lol).
I was so lucky to receive an arc of the re-release of Obsidian. I haven't read this series before so I'm not aware if anything changed.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for the e-arc!
First off, this hardcover edition is perfection; the edges matching the case is so beautiful. I love Jennifer Armentrout’s writing and was so excited when I learned about this book because ALIENS. I was so excited to see not only a slight genre change up, but also to see a book about alien magic.
Definitely a quick and entertaining read! Katy and Daemon had some amazing banter and tension. Daemon is slow to like but does improve a bit as the story progresses. Katy is defiantly the star of the show! She has a book blog and is a really entertaining MC!

This is a really interesting book and I was intrigued from the start. I really wanted to know what Damien and his sister were from the beginning. I was surprised throughout the book and the romance itself was done well. I’m either to start the next book in the series.

"For a moment, I pretended. Not that we weren't two different species, because I didn't see him that way, but that we actually liked each other."
Obsidian is the first novel to the (completed) young adult paranormal romance series, Lux. The story follows Katy, a young woman who is just your regular teen with a book blog. When her mother forces her to move across the country after the death of her father she meets her two neighbours, Dee and Daemon. While Dee offers a new friendship Katy desperately needs, Daemon is rude and frustrating. He draws her in but pushes her away constantly. When Katy uncovers that these two are in fact aliens from another world she quickly realizes there is danger lurking around the corner...especially when she becomes a target of the enemies seeking to destroy the Lux species. Will Katy be able to find her new place in this extraterrestrial world or will she succumb to the difference that may be too hard to breech?
Katy was a fun character to explore during this book with her book blog and easy going nature. Her banter with Daemon helped create the romantic tension and I enjoyed having her perspective as being normal in a scenario where everything is not. That said, it is a very Bella Swan vibe.
“Why are you such an ass?" The words came out before I could think twice.
"Everyone has to excel at something, right?"
"Well, you're doing a great job."
Daemon is a broody teenager with a lot of expectations on him to protect his sister and other members of his kind. We learn about his recent loss, which explains his anger and mistrust but he is unable to stay away from Katy despite his efforts. I tend to like these moody characters who, underneath, are actually giant teddy’s so it was a pleasure watching their relationship unfold.
This novel is an YA series so while there is no spice there is some kissing and making out. Katy and Daemon's relationship is rocky throughout but their connection is undeniable. I was hoping for a bit more closure at the end but these two are nowhere near done their dance. I also will point out to check triggers as there is attempted assault.
The overarching story was something tradition to the YA series (ie. girl is endangered because of boy so they try to hide) and it’s a solid trope that I really enjoyed. Daemon is desperate to avoid history repeating but he can’t help but be there for Katy even if it puts them at further risk.
Overall, if you are looking for a YA paranormal romance that takes inspiration from Twilight franchise and then enhances it, then this is an excellent book. You get all the feels, can connect to a relatable character, and get a new paranormal species to add a distinct feel to the series.
Thank you Entangled Teen for the review copy!

Obsidian is a paranormal YA romance that held my attention from start to finish. The story gave us mystery, danger, great banter, wonderful characters and I really enjoyed it.
The story follows Katy a human girl who ends up falling for her infuriating, arrogant hot neighbor who just happens to be an alien.
The romance was angsty and filled with tension. The non stop arguments and banter between Katy and Daemon had me glued to the pages and provided much entertainment. In the midst of all the arguing, there were some intimate moments where Daemon shows a different side of himself and I loved these scenes.
The secondary characters helped moved the story forward and I loved Daemon's twin sister Dee whose character really brightened up the story.
The plot was engrossing and had me at the edge of my seat throughout. The author did a fantastic job explaining the Luxen and their enemies, the Arum. The action scenes were well written and felt like I was watching a movie.
This was a fantastic read and great start to the series. I can't wait to start book 2 and would highly recommend this novel to paranormal romance lovers.

This book is YA with all the things that make you an over 30 year old who still dives in books meant for a younger crowd. I love that it’s not vampires or werewolves but aliens instead. No one thinks of aliens being sexy but somehow this author manages it. Perfect start to a series.

This book was absolutely amazing. The writing is so well done. I had a hard to putting this book down, I was so engaged with the story that it was hard to put this book down. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. All of the characters are well done and are easy to connect with. The slow burn romance was so well done and so worth the wait. I honestly can't wait to read the rest of the series.

Read this as a reading discussion with entangled! I thoroughly enjoyed the book and hope the rest in the series gets the revamp cover wise! It’s a great fantasy novel. This is the first alien novel I’ve ever read. It was very interesting and kept my attention but didn’t feel to overly dramatic about the main characters with one being an alien. Plan on reading the rest!

I was hooked from the first page.
Katy's whole life has been uprooted as her mom decided it was time to start fresh and move from FL to small town West Virginia. I loved her from the first page. Katy is witty, funny, relatable and a book blogger (who could ask for more in a character?). It's when she somewhat reluctantly heads nextdoor to introduce herself to the teens her mom spotted while moving in that things really start to get interesting.
Daemon is perfectly happy not having anyone else in his family's orbit and does what he can to be sure Katy doesn't hang around too much. When his sister Dee meets Katy and sets her mind on making Katy her new friend, things start to get interesting. Daemon finds himself acting very contradictory toward Katy wanting to give Dee the world, but also wanting to keep Katy at more than an arms length from them and their secrets. The banter that ensues from all of the back and forth is top notch (Kitten🫠🔥) and the mystery behind all of Daemon and Dee's actions kept me turning the pages well into the night!
Obsidian gave me major Roswell/X-files vibes and I am so excited to read more in the series!

I really enjoyed Obsidian! It’s been awhile since I’ve read a YA novel that reminded me of how I felt when I was in high school with a crush on the boy next door. It was such a fun read and the twists kept me hooked all the way to the end.

The story was written and easy to read. The dialogue did feel a little awkward at times. Daemon’s dislike of Katy felt a bit forced and his reasoning for Katy not being near Dee read weird, not like a brother but more like an overprotective lover at first. Overall it was pretty good. Definitely a YA feel.

This was an interesting YA read. It was an interesting plot and the story was cozy to read despite the tension and action. You could almost guess what's going to happen next, but it was still entertaining
I loved the friendship between Dee and Katy. I thought the enemies to... less than enemies between Katy and Daemon was somewhat funny. The two refuse to admit that there is something between them. I hope we get to these two actually face their feelings in the next book.
If you're looking for a fun alien teen thriller, this book will definitely fit the bill!

This book!!! Holy cow. I’ve never been a sci-fan. I don’t know if it’s the storyline, the author’s writing style, or both - but I absolutely fell in love with this book. I cannot wait to start the rest of the series!!

If you’re looking for a wildly entertaining YA enemies to lovers book, look no further than Obsidian. This is such a bingeable book that you could easily read it in one sitting. The plot is fast paced which helps with the bingeability. The other element that helps make it so easy to binge are all the breadcrumbs that Armentrout wove throughout the story to hint at the true nature of the Black siblings. You know something is off, but you have to keep reading to see what it is. Armentrout is also a true master at wielding the enemies to lovers trope which will be immediately apparent in the “I hate that I want you” vibes Katy and Daemon have going on. The banter and push/pull between those two will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next. Not only that, but Armentrout made sure Katy had a great girl squad around her and that the story wasn’t just the romance between Daemon and Katy. I was as invested in the friendship between Katy and Dee as I was in the romance between Katy and Daemon. I also thought Armentrout did a great job developing the Luxen and Arum as well as detailing the differences between the two. With how Armentrout ended Obsidian, I can’t wait to see where the story goes particularly regarding the new link formed between Daemon and Katy. I highly recommend picking this book up – it’s so incredibly entertaining.
