Gosh thing book is so reminiscent of the early 2010s and such a perfect example of that era of books--angsty yet heartfelt. I didn't absolutely love it today, but I think me of 10 years ago would have devoured it

3-3.5 stars. Aubree and Booker share a secret from the past. Aubree has avoided her hometown using college and jobs as an excuse but is brought back to help care for her aunt. The story captivated me from the beginning wanting to know what happened that made Aubree leave and never come back. The secret is pretty predictable, they don’t go about hiding it but also don’t explicitly talk about it until the end. Overall, I enjoyed the story. It was a quick read and I found myself wanting to keep reading it to see what happens. The story itself was pretty PG-13 I would say. Not super steamy and detailed but enough that it is probably suitable for older teenagers/adults. Sometimes the dialogue between characters felt rushed, but I enjoyed the characters, and they were likable. The book was a good read, I recommend.
I received this book from the publisher via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
