This was really fun. Levine's writing shines with sharp dialogue and well-paced character interactions. The central romance develops satisfyingly, and the author skillfully balances supernatural elements with relatable, everyday concerns. However, the novel occasionally relies on familiar tropes, and secondary characters lack depth. The world-building, while interesting, could have been more comprehensively explored.

A standout aspect is the clever integration of mundane worries into vampire life. And honestly, I completely understand. I, too, am deathly afraid of the IRS. This humorous approach adds a layer of relatability to the story. While not groundbreaking, "My Vampire Plus-One" was really enjoyable and will be great for fans of paranormal romance seeking a light-hearted escape with a touch of humor. Perfect if you enjoy hyperactive golden retrievers and women that stand on business.

Amelia needs a date for her cousin’s upcoming wedding. She’s worked hard to get to where she is in life with a career she loves (an accountant) and she isn’t searching for romance. However, she’s tired of the pitying glances and fielding her family’s questions about why she’s still single. An unexpected run in with Reginald Cleaves provides the perfect solution.

Reginald is running from The Collective, a vigilante vampire organization hunting him for a century old crime. He runs into Amelia, and she provides him a cover. Her proposition to play her boyfriend in all the events leading up to her cousin’s wedding is no imposition since he’s already fascinated by the organized and stunning CPA!

Reginald was a character! He cracked me up! Amelia was a sweetheart, too, and I loved these two together. I had to laugh at some of her cluelessness regarding the whole vampire thing. Loved the interactions between Amelia’s dad and Reggie.

My Vampire Plus-One was whacky and fun with a bit of danger, adding a bit of excitement! A pure delight!

As The Collective take aim at our story line hero, Amelia enacts a plan to save the vampire who calls to her heart.

The relationship between Amelia and Reginald begins by accident. Pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend, Amelia and Reginald must face Amelia’s family, and Reginald’s friend Frederick who is currently dating Amelia’s brother’s friend Cassie. But when their fake relationship turns into something more, Amelia must come to terms with the reality of who and what is Reginald Cleaves. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

The secondary and supporting characters are colorful and energetic. We are introduced to Amelia’s family and extended family; accounting clients, fellow employees, as well as the return of Frederick and Cassie.

MY VAMPIRE PLUS-ONE is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise entertaining and enchanting; the romance is spicy; the characters are animated and honest.

I LOVE this series, and I adore both Amelia and Reggie. Especially Reggie. Gotta love an accountant heroine, and Reggie is simply perfection. I really love everything about this cute story. Reggie is an example of why I love vampires. The entire story is sexy, funny, and a whole lot of fun.

I think there are some things to really like about this book, but I do find that I'm just generally not a huge fan of the way vampires are portrayed in this series

I was so excited to read MVPO; after reading the first book, I was dying to see Reginald (Reggie) as the main character in his own story. Once again, Jenna Levine makes a wonderful fall vampire rom-com to break up spookier reads.

I loved Reggie and Amelia together. They were cute and funny. I especially loved seeing Reggie discover Bullet Journaling and Discord (as I love and use both of these things).

Very light heat, this is a "book with spice" 1/5 🌶️ more than a "spicy book."

I would recommend it if you like fake dating, forced proximity, one bed (ish), and some miscommunication.

This book follows Reginald, who we already knew from My Roommate is a Vampire, and Amelia, an accountant.
Amelia is such a kind and strong character. I love how she tries to do what's best for everyone z especially her family, e even though they don't always put that effort in. I feel kinda bad for her. I always hate it when families are pushy about people dating, saying you've been single for too long or that you're getting too old to find someone. It's not your business! Not everyone wants to date. Sometimes you have to let things happen instead of forcing yourself to go on dates
She's also clearly not the favorite child. Her brother Sam is the favorite. Their parents are super proud of him being a lawyer and hardly care about their daughter being an accountant.
Her family won't even bother to make sure there's food Amelia can eat due to her dietary restrictions.
I'm not saying they don't love her and that they don't care about her happiness, but they don't put in the work. They don't pay attention to her needs.
Which is what makes her relationship with Reggie even better. He always takes care of her, always prioritizes her, even if he's not sure she feels the same. He's been so lonely for centuries and he finally finds his soulmate. He never pressures her into the relationship or into choosing to become a vampire. He's pacient with her.
I love their dynamic and how they help each other solve their problems.
This book also includes some very interesting cameos for fans of the first book ;)

LOVE love love! A literal run-in meet cute that was hilarious. A quirky and completely sweet vampire and a smart, determined accountant. What a perfect couple. I loved this fake dating troupe and the misunderstand was handled so well and was kind of even funny without being frustrating. There was instant banter and chemistry and the spice was spiiiiiicy. A perfect light vampire romance with tax law saving the day?! Yes please!

Reginald Cleaves is hiding from a vampire organization known as the Collective. He is being accused of starting a fire over 100 years ago that killed several vampires. He runs into Amelia Collins, an accountant, who is searching for someone to pose as her boyfriend; she needs a plus one for her cousin's wedding. What will Amelia do when she learns the truth about Reggie?

I liked this book better than the first one in the series. However, it still felt like it was missing something. The characters just felt too over the top and cliché. Reggie was entertaining, but his energy was too similar to a golden retriever to take him seriously. I didn't mind the camp in this book, but I wanted a little more angst and spice. This book can be read as a standalone.

This is a fun Paranormal Rom-Com that I was surprised to enjoy so much. At first, Reginald seemed a bit goofy for a leading man, but that changed as I got to know him better. I realize that I would have been more prepared if I had read book one in the series, however it wasn’t necessary for the story as a whole. I also liked Amelia. I was glad she wasn’t a stick-in-the-mud CPA with all those stereotypes you expect. She was easy to get to know and smile as their relationship blossomed.

The storyline itself was two-sided and yet blended nicely. The fake-date/forced-proximity aspect fit right in with the death threats hanging over Reginald’s head. This was enhanced by the dual POV. Their inner thoughts and bullet-point journal was icing on the cake. Now I need to go back and read book one in this series.

I was so eager to read this book after the first one came out. Reggie is such a fun character and I couldn't wait to read a book with him as one of the main characters. I hope another book comes out in this series because I would love to know what happens to these characters after the book ends. I am so happy to get updates about the couple from the first book and I want that too for Reginald and Amelia. Forget the Twilight books, give me more of these books!

I am happy to report that this was even better than the first book!
Reggie is a blast and had me giggling throughout the entire book.
Cassie is a buttoned up CPA with an undiscovered wild side, and I loved every moment of Reggie bringing it out of her.
Fake dating is one of my favourite tropes, add in vampires and a lot of giggles?

The fake dating trope never disappoints in a paranormal romance. This book is fun, flirty, and so cute! This book made me giggle and kick my feet in the air while I was rooting for the couple! Reggie is perfect and I love a MMC that is down bad for his girl and he defiantly was! Absolutely perfect for the fall and for the fun spooky rom com vibes!

My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine was such a fun read full of these great tropes and more. Jenna somehow takes the dark and sexy and broody vampire trope and makes them cute and adorable and just a tiny bit dark and sexy…. I mean, it’s a vampire. There is something already just so hot. Overall, I feel like this book isn’t something to take too seriously. It was a cute, chaotic, laugh out loud, adorable romance. Much like the first book in this series, it is just wonderful fun.

I am a reader for the characters, and the two leads in this book were so fun. Reginald, being a class and ancient vampire was unexpectedly quirky. I loved the glimpses into his past that were sprinkled throughout the story. It was a great reminder that OHHH HES A VAMPIRE, while also watching him be oh so smitten with his not-a-girlfriend. And tbh, who couldn’t see through their fake dating in a second? I swear, everyone but those two losers knew they were endgame. I love them so much.

Amelia is the character I, shockingly enough, had a harder time connecting with. She is an amazing accountant but tbh, that is the only standout feature of her for me. Thats not a bad thing at all as it really allows Reggie to shine (and shine he did!) but it makes her fall a little flat.

Overall, this book was so much fun to read. It was so ridiculous and unexpected and I am so glad that I got to experience this story! I am so excited for a spoopy season reread!

Last year I absolutely loved My Roommate Is a Vampire, and I couldn’t wait to continue the My Vampires series. Now Jenna Levine is back with My Vampire Plus-One, this time starring Reginald Cleaves (introduced in the first book) and a new character, Amelia Collins (Cassie’s best friend Sam’s sister). Amelia is tired of her family pushing her to date again, and with another cousin getting married and inviting Amelia to bring a plus-one, she’s in need of a fake date. After coincidentally running into the same weird man twice in two days, Amelia asks him to pose as her boyfriend in attending the engagement party and wedding. Reggie is just odd enough to say yes. They quickly start to develop real feelings for each other… but how will Amelia react once she find out that Reggie is a vampire? And what about this mysterious group, known as The Collective, that’s hunting him?

What I Liked:
- Reggie is “intentionally erratic” and “dresses like a stolen car.” I already knew from My Roommate Is a Vampire that Reggie was an entertaining and unusual character, and that is on full display throughout My Vampire Plus-One. He’s such a riot! He’s a prankster, loves jokes, dresses in a way that draws everyone’s attention (fuzzy yellow coats? pink boas?), and is just an all-around silly guy. Reggie does have a serious side hidden deep within, but for the most part, this character is hilarious and lights up every scene he’s in. I love how Reggie contrasts with Amelia, a hard-working accountant with a limited sense of humor. As with Frederick and Cassie before, this is a case of opposites attracting.
- Bonkers humor and situations. Speaking of how ridiculous Reggie is, everything about this book is so light-hearted and fun. I can be picky when it comes to silliness or quirky humor in books, but something about Jenna Levine’s writing style makes it work really well for me. Similar to Sarah Hawley’s Glimmer Falls series, the My Vampires series is the kind of random fun that is perfect escapism for me.
- Low-stakes fake relationship. Amelia and Reggie are fake dating for the sake of attending her cousin’s engagement party and wedding, keeping her family off her back about being single. It may have started off as sarcasm that her family failed to pick up on, but Amelia’s commitment to keeping up appearances wins out. I love how she’s looking for a guy who’s just bizarre enough to go along with such an absurd plan. Reggie is totally that guy. They don’t have to do much to convince Amelia’s parents that they’re together; quite the contrary, they’re eager to welcome Reggie into the family.
- Low-stakes danger Reggie is in. Besides the romance at the heart of this book, there’s also the danger that Reggie is in. Some 150 years ago he might have been involved in The Incident, which The Collective (a group of vampires) is still mad about. They want to capture Reggie and punish him for his alleged crimes. As with the previous book, the danger surrounding our leading man is more silly fun than anything else. It adds to the stakes, but won’t have the reader biting their nails with fear. The resolution is kind of hilarious too!
- Excerpts beginning each chapter. Every chapter begins with something extra: a text exchange between Reggie and Frederick; emails between Amelia and her awful client; portions of Reggie’s bullet journaling; passages from various tomes about vampire happenings; even some telegrams. They add context to what’s going on, build out the world further, and make the reading experience even more fun. I laughed at so many of these excerpts! They also kept me reading even when I’d planned to stop after finishing a chapter; I had to read ahead to see what the next chapter would start with… then I’d just keep going. It made the whole book fast-paced and a quick read!

What Didn’t Work for Me:
- Nothing, this was great!

Final Thoughts
I loved My Vampire Plus-One from start to finish. It’s a little ridiculous and random, but so much fun! Amelia and Reggie jump off the page as characters, and the whole world is a joy to fall into. Both of the My Vampires books have been fabulous, and I look forward to reading more from Jenna Levine. Maybe the witch introduced at the end of this book will get her own story? I’m ready for it!

As someone who absolutely loved how bonkers My Roommate is a Vampire, I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into this one.

I loved the dynamic between Reggie and Amelia. I loved how positively smitten Reggie was from the get go, and how stubbornly Amelia dug her heels in when it came to her attraction to him. Reggie's personality as an unhinged child hopped up on sugar worked wonderfully for this book, as Amelia was so buttoned up that she needed his brand of bonkers to shake her loose. Right from the beginning, Reggie showed so much care towards Amelia, despite being labeled as a complete scoundrel by most of the vampire community, and by his only friends.

I absolutely love this book and this series.

My Vampire Plus-One was a super fun read. It's your classic fake dating storyline. Amelia is a successful accountant who loves her job and has very little interest in dating. Her family, however, has a different way of looking at it. As yet another Cousin has announced their wedding, Amelia needs a fake date to bring to the wedding to get her mother (and the rest of her family) off her back. Enter Reggie, a strange but friendly (and attractive) man Amelia has just met and seems a safe bet. What could go wrong? Just the minor detail that he is vampire on the run from an organization of vampires that wants him dead. No big deal, right?

I loved the humor in this book and laughed so much!. Reggie is the epitome of a Golden Retriever living his best life and blown away by Amelia in everyday possible. I enjoyed My Roommate is a Vampire and Frederik and Cassidy's story, but Reggie is a man after my heart. I also loved how Amelia is good at her job and independent, but Reggie doesn't threaten that. He sees her strengths and appreciates her she doesn't need to change to find love. The slow burn is very well done . I was so invested in the two of them that resolving Reggie's plot with the bad vampires almost seemed like an afterthought.

While I did enjoy seeing more about Frederik and Cassidy, my one quibble is that most of it was through Frederik. Their relationship is definitely progressing as well, but I wanted to hear more of Cassidy's point of view. It was weird that she is fairly absent (given their plot line) and I think it would have been more effective if we had heard more from her.

I honestly think I liked this book a bit more than the original. They are both great reads for the spooky season and this can certainly be read as a stand alone as well.

My Vampire Plus One is a light-hearted romantic comedy with some steam. Amelia feels family pressure to bring a date to her cousin's wedding. Reggie, a guy she literally ran into, agrees to do it after Amelia reminds him he owes her a favor.

This book had fake dating, forced proximity and a funny misunderstanding. There was humor and banter.

After meeting Reggie in My Roommate Is A Vampire, I was definitely interested in how he would work as a romantic interest and the author did a great job. Reggie was thoughtful, kind but still a bit silly. I also liked Amelia and how she definitely stepped out of her comfort zone. They were a good couple.

This was a quick, fun read and I look forward to more books in the series. Thank you to the publisher for my e-copy of this book.
