"My standards aren't high. I'm just asking for a few hours of your time, not for your hand in marriage. After the wedding, you'll never see me again. As for why I'm asking you specifically—" "You're asking me because you find me devastatingly handsome and irresistibly charming," he deadpanned. "Right?"

Jenna Levine second standlone novel, My Vampire Plus-One, featuring a vampire hero is equally hilarious, fun, and absolutely swoony as her first in the My Vampires series, My Roommate Is a Vampire. If you’ve read My Roommate Is a Vampire then you’re already familiar with Reggie, Frederick’s best friend and general pain in his butt. Reggie’s love interest is Amelia, an accountant (the actual kind not the social media kind) whose no-nonsense kind of life doesn’t lend itself well to dating.

Reggie and Amelia’s meet cute is the kind of scene in romance that make me want to kick my legs in the air and squeal as I clutch the book to my bosom. I adore the charm and awkwardness that Reggie brings as a character and what makes it even better is how Amelia cannot figure out how a hottie like Reggie is so dang strange. When Amelia’s family relentlessly nags her about dating, she puts herself in a bind when she mentions a boyfriend and a plus-one to an upcoming family wedding.

Normally, I was physiologically incapable of finding anyone wearing a suit in my building attractive, ever. But seeing Reggie in a suit...It was a crime, honestly, that he ever wore anything else.

You know exactly where this is going. Amelia asks Reggie to be her fake date which then leads to multiple appearances. Nothing like an engagement dinner, or dinner with the family to really make this fake dating seem real! The only issue is that Reggie is also attempting to hide in plain site from a league of vampires who would rather see Reggie dead and gone than undead and in a happily ever kind of relationship.

Hijinks reach an all-time high when both Reggie and Amelia begin to catch real feelings in their fake relationship. With appearances from both Frederick and Cassie, along with a getaway to a cabin in the woods during a snowstorm, plus a confrontation that made me in awe of Amelia’s strength and ingenuity, My Vampire Plus-One is equally as unputdownable and enjoyable as it’s predecessor.

"But for you, I would brave a blizzard just to see you smile."

I adore this premise, the lore, and the setting in urban Chicago. I cannot get enough of these characters and the hilarity that ensues with each new set of characters. I hope there is more to come. I eagerly await more. Do yourselves all a favor and make sure My Vampire Plus-One is on the tippy top of your reading list for Spooky Season this fall!

I took way too long to finally read this arc! But I’m so glad I finally did! I had such a good time and couldn’t stop laughing! Not typical of the type of romance books I read, but I’ll be giving this author another go!

Amelia and Reginald have such an endearing and quirky love story.

As with “My Roommate is a Vampire” this book had me belly laughing on multiple occasions. The visuals of Reggie’s outfits and the antics they get into together kept me engaged and generally delighted throughout the entire story.

The use of the miscommunication trope was brilliantly executed and created so many moments of unmatched humor. I couldn’t help but fall in love with these characters.

The only critique I really have for this book is the ending felt a bit rushed. I wanted more time after the resolution and even a bit more from the conflict itself. Other than that, this was a fantastic book.

I’m so excited to read more by this author!

Amelia Collins, a successful and independent woman, is tired of her family’s constant questions about her love life. To escape the pressure, she enlists the help of a fake date, none other than Reginald Cleaves, a centuries-old vampire trying to blend in with humans (and escape from a weird old-timey vampire coven that suspects him of an egregious crime). As they spend time together, their fake relationship starts to feel real, and Amelia realizes that Reggie is far more loyal and kind than she initially thought.

This was such a fun, quirky read. Jenna Levine’s strength is in her banter, and it continues to shine in My Vampire Plus-One. Vampire romance is certainly not a new subgenre, but Reggie really stood out because of his unique brand of eccentricity. He’s not odd because he’s antiquated and twitchy, he’s odd because he wears giant fur coats and loves practical jokes. He is protective of Amelia but not stifling, and his attentiveness is super sweet. Loved!

I liked the idea, but the banter felt forced, and the vampires didn't quite come into focus as believable. Though I really liked the idea. Finally, I might just be too old, because I could predict every beat of the story before it happened. I'm just not the audience here, I fear.

MY VAMPIRE PLUS-ONE by Jenna Levine is such a fun, feel-good, wild ride! Amelia, a busy accountant in the midst of tax season, needs to get her family off her back about her dating life. To do so, she pretends to have a boyfriend—and that she’s bringing him to an upcoming family wedding. Enter: Reginald (Reggie) Cleaves, a vampire who agrees to be Amelia’s pretend boyfriend. But the wedding is filled with pre-wedding activities, requiring Amelia and Reggie to spend more time together. And what a fun time it is, from a family gathering to being snowed in together to having to help save Reggie from a group of vampires after him.

Jenna had me laughing from the meet cute, which is hilariously sweet. Reggie is an earnest, individualistic sweetheart, and Amelia is a risk-averse, logical delight. And the addition of mixed media elements is so fun! There’s everything from meeting notes, excerpts from Vampiric Lore, bullet journal entries, texts, and discord server messages.

Add to your TBR is you love fake dating, charming vampires, being snowed in with said charming vampires, bullet journaling, family drama, and judgmental cats.

Thank you to Berkley Romance and NetGalley for the advanced copies in exchange for my honest opinion.

After rave reviews from one of my best friends, I dove into My Vampire Plus-One as soon as I could. Jenna Levine has a delightful way of making a vampire book not just romantic but laugh-out-loud funny and endearingly cute. This book was a lot of fun! I never thought I’d say this, but I found myself wanting a bit more conflict or drama, especially towards the end, and maybe not tax law as the main threat. That said, the fake dating trope was handled perfectly, and I loved the glimpse of Frederick and Cassie from book one—it was great to see them again.

Reggie was such a standout character, and I’m so glad we got his story. His attentiveness to Amelia, especially regarding her dietary needs, was so sweet, even if his food combinations were a bit odd. The bullet journaling ladies were absolutely hysterical with their quirky advice, adding another layer of charm to the story. While Amelia’s family wasn’t my favorite, I appreciated how her journey wrapped up.

This book might not be my new favorite in the genre, but it was an absolute joy to read. It was funny, heartwarming, and exactly what I needed in a read. I’d definitely recommend it to friends looking for a light, entertaining book that guarantees a good time.

A cute, silly, highly entertaining (and funny) fake-dating romance... with vampires! The banter is adorable, the main character is terrific, and the love interest is a messy vampire who loves nothing more than a good practical joke (plus history discussions). This book is a great choice for a reader looking for something light and silly.

As a workaholic CPA, Amanda Collins had little to no life outside of her demanding job. Even her cat gives her stink eye for never being home. Amanda’s large and interfering family feels she sadly is unattached because she has no man to call her own with few prospects of one. In desperation for the next family wedding, Amanda gets the oddly quirky Reginald Cleaves to be her fake boyfriend to get her parents off her back. It seems those parents really do not know Amanda well, or pay attention to her needs.

What Amanda does not know about Reggie is that he is a two-hundred-year-old vampire still caught up in the Victorian lifestyle. Reggie is also on the run from a ruling Council who is out for blood, most specifically his. Reggie is rather over the top even for a vampire especially compared to his best friend, Frederick Fitzwilliam, whom readers will recognize from the previous book, MY VAMPIRE ROOMMATE. Amanda and Reggie begin their relationship with a few miscommunications not surprisingly including his true nature as she thinks he was joking.

While I enjoyed the previous story, this one just felt like a repeat without the fun and entertaining aspects of the first book. Cassie was a much more enjoyable protagonist while Amanda seems to embody all the cliches about accountant-type numbers people. Reggie is rather silly and what worked before in the earlier story as his role in Frederick’s life does not do so here. So readers who are in the mood for silly and predictable, will enjoy this book.

Read This Book If…you love quirky characters and zany situations!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
My Vampire Plus-One by Jenna Levine

Genre: paranormal romance
Series: My Vampires # 2
Spice Level: 3/5🌶, 1-2 explicit scenes
Setting: Chicago
POV: dual, 1st person, past tense
Tropes: fake dating, forced proximity

My Thoughts:

I was so excited to get Reginald’s book after the first in this series and I was not disappointed! This author does quirky characters SO well and I fell in love with Amelia quickly.

I especially adored how she literally missed him being a vampire because he’s the first person in her life to take such good care of her. I love fake dating and a snowed-in-together moment, so this book hit all the right notes.

This read is a bit zany, but it made me laugh out loud several times and is absolutely perfect for a quick Spooky Season read!

Thank you to the publisher for my advance copy!

MY VAMPIRE PLUS-ONE by @jennalevinewrites is a whole new flavor, and damn enjoyable. There's a little bit of a formula the books fit into, but the characters and what make them endearing is so different. I read this in a day, perfect for a vacation.

Full review to come.

This was one of the best fake dating romance books I read in a long long time! I haven't read the first book, but now I'm sure I will, cause this was just too much fun. I loved everything: the opposites attract kind of romance, the humour, and the plot was engaging as as well.

This book book might actually make Jenna Levine an insta-buy author for me now!

All opinions are my own. @BerkleyPub @BerkleyRomance #BerkleyPartner #Berkley #BerkleyBookstagram #BerkleyBookTok

This book was adorable! I have only recently started to dip my toes in the "paranormal romance" genre because I don't necessarily like scary or gory content. With that being said, this book does lean more romantic than paranormal in my opinion and it was not scary at all. So if you are like me and don't like scary content, but are looking for a fun book this upcoming spooky season, I definitely recommend this book. This book has a lot of heart to it, and also a lot of humor. There were several parts of the book where I laughed out loud, and I can't say I do that for many books.

I should also clarify that while this book can be read as a standalone novel, this book is set in the same universe as My Roommate is a Vampire by Jenna Levine. and there are some characters from that book that appear in this book as well.
.
On the audiobook side of things, the book is narrated by Helen Laser and Daniel Henning. Helen is an audiobook narrator that I stumbled upon earlier this year and she has since become one of my favorite voices to listen to (right up there with Julia Whelan, Brittany Presley, and January Lavoy). Daniel was not someone I had listened to narrate an audiobook before, but now that I have listened to one book narrated by him, I think I would enjoy listening to more books by Daniel. His voice was very charming in my opinion.

I am very much looking forward to Jenna Levine's next book and I am excited to see if it will be another vampire story or perhaps something completely different. She is going on my "authors to watch" list!

This book is set to be released on September 17th, 2024. Pick it up at your favorite local retailer, I highly doubt that you will be disappointed.

Many Thanks again to NetGalley, Berkley, and Penguin Random House Audio for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest review.

I loved continuing this series! A great follow up to my roommate is a vampire. A perfect read for someone looking for a funny fake dating romance. Reginald was such an interesting character to see crack open for Amelia. I loved the easter eggs and character updates from book one as well! The banter and humor in this books is great! also the main fake dating plot while also throwing in sub tropes like one bed made me giggle! I really hope we have another book in this series!

Cute, cozy paranormal romcom

This book made me nostalgic for that old Hugh Jackman movie with Meg Ryan. Do you know which one I’m thinking of?? Anyways - that sense of magic and wonder with a dash of early 2000s romcom energy… that is this book

So perfect for this transition to fall and all things magical/spooky.

My Vampire Plus-One is a sweet and charming rom-com following Amelia, an accountant, who is tired of having to explain her lack of a boyfriend to her meddling family, and Reggie, an ancient vampire on the run from a vigilante group. When the two bump into each other on the street and then later at a cafe, Amelia comes up with the brilliant idea to bring Reggie as her fake boyfriend to an upcoming family wedding. This was such a fun and quirky read! The fake dating was so well done and I loved how it added to the slow burn of their romance. Reggie was such a chaotic and endearing character, the lengths he went to for Amelia were so sweet. The vampire was just completely smitten and I thought it was so cute how he wrote about her in his journal. The epistolary aspects were so humorous and I loved that we got to see multiple outside perspectives through them. This would make for a great fall read and I cannot wait for the next book in this lighthearted series!

My Vampire Plus One by Jenna Levine is a spooktacular fake dating romcom where an accountant needs to find a date for a wedding to get her family off her back & maybe accidentally falls for a vampire in the process. It is an easy escapism read that is funny, fast & provides bloody good vibes for fall.

This is book #2 in the My Vampires series. It could easily be read as a standalone but I really enjoyed book #1, My Roommate Is a Vampire, so I do recommend both!

My Vampire Plus One is great for fans of…
❤️ Paranormal Romcom
❤️ Vampires
❤️ Fake Dating

This book is charmingly funny & I think the author does it in a very clever way. The story is full of chaos & adventure but if you are just down for the roller coaster, it is quite the fun ride. I did appreciate the realistic way in which the heroine reacted to the idea of the existence of vampires. I was ecstatic to hear that Reginald got his own story.
It was a treat seeing the grumpy loner of a vampire thaw & fall for our lovely delight of a heroine.

There are quite a few cameos from the first book, which was a delight to have them in this story & get an update on them!

If you are looking for a fangtastic sweet & a little spicy vampire romcom with a dash of mysterious intrigue, then I recommend My Vampire Plus One!

Massive thanks to NetGalley & Berkley Publishing for the gifted copy, which I voluntarily read & reviewed.

I will also post this to social media & Amazon during release week & add links once I do.

This book had me giggling - I was in a bit of a slump and was looking for a cute and fun read to get me out of it and this did the trick. I really liked our MMC Reggie as a character because he was so quirky, and hilarious and just strange... that he felt like a genuinely unique character that I hadn't read about before, so I found that pretty refreshing! The whole premise of the plot is a little funny, but this isn't a book to be taken seriously and I had a good time just going along for the ride. Our FMC was nothing to write home about, but overall this book was just what I was looking for! This book should be out Sept. 17 and it's a fun quick read you can sink your teeth into (haha)!

Jenna Levine gives us a unique twist on vampires in this quirky sequel to My Roommate is a Vampire.

My Vampire Plus-One is a delightful story that begins with fake dating and takes readers on a wild ride of intrigue, secrets, and loads of fun!

Reggie is a prankster vampire with a wicked sense of humor. He’s absolutely perfect for straight-laced workaholic Amelia. Amelia is a logical accountant, but after a chance meeting with Reggie, she can’t get the handsome blond out of her mind. When the line between fake dating and passion is crossed… ooo fire!

The storyline is interesting, the characters are entertaining, and the romance is sizzling!

I’m looking forward to more books from Jenna’s fascinating storyworld.

Taxes and vampires…this was cute but unfortunately it just wasn’t for me. The story is fun and easy for Halloween season and if you like paranormal rom-coms you should still give it a try because other rom-com readers have enjoyed it. I just don’t think I’m the right audience for this one, it was too silly and predictable. I didn’t care for either character or their love story.
