This was a cute, and funny little book about two giraffes. One is taller than average, and one is smaller than average. These two friends decide to go for a walk, but unfortunately a lower than average cloud is covering Torla's head, making it impossible for her to see where she's going. Smorla, the smaller than average giraffis there to help! She guides Torla through their walk-
This fun book shows children the importans of being helpfull and trusting your friends.
Well writen and adorably illustrated!

A cute, fun and engaging picture book. The pull-out flaps can’t really be done in an E-book, but I can see they’ll add a lot to the enjoyment and the illustrations are just brilliant. I love the repeated use of the terms ‘taller-than-average’, ‘shorter-than-average’ etc- a great way to introduce kids to longer words! I was a bit disappointed at the end as I was waiting for a twist, but still a lovely book which highlights the importance of helping your friends!

There is nothing than average about this book. My initial thoughts were that I was going to loathe tis book for the play on words that would be confusing for children starting out on their reading journeys. I worried about the common sounding pronunciation that drop phonic sounds and the general spelling of words. But here's a prime example of why you shouldn't judge a book by its cover.

The story is well thought out. Torla and Smorla are used as names only with the actual words, 'taller,' and 'smaller' being used appropriately. The illustrations are cute, the tall pages are clever, and the use of blank space is fabulous. I really enjoyed the book and can find no fault in it. For the more inquisitive child, it could potentially invite conversations about height, diversity, as well as give them some advanced vocabulary.

Thank you Netgalley and Quarto Publishing Group – Frances Lincoln Children's Books publications for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

This was lovely, with bright colour and cute illustration. I think it will be a great book after publications with fold out and open out pages

My kid enjoyed reading it. Definitely good for younger kids.

This was a cute story about thrse two giraffe friends. I feel like there was a missed opportunity to see how Torla could have helped out Smorla though.

Torla and Smorla and the Lower than Average Cloud is a whimsical tale about a giraffe named Torla who encounters a low-hanging cloud, getting their head stuck. Despite some repetitive and wordy sections, the book’s tall format provides an interactive perspective. Bright illustrations, especially of yoga crocodiles, enhance the story’s charm. While it delivers nice messages about friendship and relying on others, it’s most enjoyable when read aloud. Thanks to Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for the book.

The online net galley option was a bit tricky to read as the formatting was a little weird. It was a very cute illustration style and the story was fine. Honestly it was kind of hard to read aloud with a lot of words sounding the same and the “bigger than average” lingo over and over again.

I think the flaps and folds in this book will add a lot of fun hands-on reading! I didn't love the long hyphenated words but understand the concept it could teach! Fun story about working together and trusting friends!

Torla and Smorla is the story of two friends who's trust in one another helps them along their longer than average journey. The illustrations for Torla and Smorla were fantastic, and I anticipate the print edition will be phenomenal with the taller than average giraffe. Overall, the story was a bit short, and definitely had the potential to go on a little longer.

What a fun interactive book for little ones! I cannot wait to see a physical finished copy since it has some flaps to lift. Funny and fun, with bright colors, and wonderful characters!

This was a lovely book following two giraffe friends as one helps another navigate through the savannah while their head is stuck in a cloud. It has adorable pictures and nice repetition that would engage any child. I am curious to see how the lift-the-flap aspect will be in the physical book as the proof was a bit difficult to imagine. Something that I enjoyed about this book is that it can lead to fun activities with children around the importance of following directions. It also emphasized the idea of trust within friendships.

Torla and Smorla and the Lower than Average Cloud is about two friends who are different from each other but rely and trust each other through their journey. This was a cute story to read with young children.

We enjoyed the illustrations and watching the ever-changing climate. It was also fun and unique to see the taller pages due to the taller-than-average giraffe. We found reading aloud to be a bit of a fun tongue twister with the unique names and above and below average descriptions.

Students felt like the book was a bit short and repetitive. They also thought it was funny and clever, especially the part where Smorla brought out the taller-than-average umbrella. They were confused why everything was ______ than average, although some felt that was funny! They wished it was longer and more details on each page. Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

A cute book about Torla the giraffe who encounters a lower than average cloud and gets their head stuck in it. Their friend Shorla must come to the rescue as they navigate the rest of their walk. While the premise of the story is great I found it a bit too repetitive and wordy in some sections.

This is the story of a tiny little girafe and a tall tall one. The context of the story was super cute: the tall girafe getting stuck in a cloud and having to trust her friend to go anywhere, but I found that the test was too repetitive and that the story could have been exploited better. It was also so short that nothing could really happen. The drawings were phenomenal though. The colours, the situations in which the animals were, the details… fantastic.

Thanks to NetGalley for a copy of this book.

Torla and Smorla and the Lower than Average cloud is a fun and whimsical story.

The tall format of the book made for a creative and interactive way to experience Torla’s perspective of having her head stuck in a cloud.

We found it most fun to read out loud, with our tongues tripping as we tried to read about all the above and below average elements of the story.

The illustrations were bright and cheery, and brought out the characters of the different animals they passed - our favourites were the yoga crocodiles.

With nice messages about being a helpful friend and learning to lean on others, this was a cute read.

Thank you Quarto Publishing Group and NetGalley for this book. Opinions expressed are my own.

What a fun story with charming illustrations about a taller than normal giraffe, Torla, and his friend Smorla, a smaller than normal giraffe. When Torla gets his head stuck in a cloud that eventually rains on him, Smorla helps him navigate their walk without incident. An important tale about friendship and the ability to give compassion and support.

A fun little story about a giraffe with her head in the clouds.
Lovely illustrations. I found it a bit hard to follow but I think that is due to the online format and I'm sure it will be a great book in published form, with open up pages, great to share with younger children.

A cute book about helping a friend navigate obstacles in the jungle. Smorla helps Torla navigate obstacles throughout their walk. Smorla provides descriptions of object sizes as larger or smaller than average, using adjectives to describe their shape and texture.
