I read a lot of crime books and thrillers, I have not been so hooked on a plotline for a long time.
Suspenseful so much that I found myself frantically swiping for the next page.
This plays with your emotions, I was willing Chloe along and found myself furious with the way she was being treated.
The plot develops as more information comes to light, there are the inevitable twists and turns and yet the tension remains.
The ending, although a little soft, possibly leaves the door open for a sequel…….
Brilliant work by Ruth Harrow.
Thanks to Netgalley and Inkubator Books for providing me with an Advance Reader's Copy in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

This was such a captivating read overall, I was hooked right away and I felt very immersed in the mystery of the book.

This was a good book, it gave me freida mcfadden vibes. It was very captivating and I wanted to know what was going on, the twist was good and I'm glad I carried on reading. Beautifully written, highly reccomened.

Thank you Net Galley and Incubator Books for a chance to read this book. I was disappointed in it as it was repetitive and depressing. An over obsessed father doing what Mark/Albert did to Chloe/Ruby is harrowing (pardon the pun). I kept waiting for a twist but wasn't one. I don't think the story was thrilling but tension builds from time to time. Good ending but again not what I was expecting.

Pretty entertaining but slow start. I like to see a little more action in my books. Ruth Harrow is a good author hope to see more like this.

Keine schlechte Geschichte, allerdings habe ich mir ein wenig mehr versprochen, ausgehend vom Klappentext.

I started this book, and put it down for a bit. Once I picked it back up, it picked up and kept my interest. It was fast-paced, outside of repetitiveness in the beginning. I went into this one blind, and I truly enjoyed it. The premise of this story was creepy, and I constantly was wondering what was true and what wasn't. The last quarter of the book was WHOA!!! The ending was so satisfying! Once I picked it back up, I was hooked and entranced right up until the end.
Thank you NetGalley and Inkubator Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

This is one of those books that I began in the late evening and had to tear myself away from sometime before 2am. I was eager to continue in the morning and finished it. Needless to say, I was hooked!
It is a compelling story, featuring a girl who has lived in total seclusion with her her father for most of her life. She thinks she knows why and accepts her situation, believing the imminent threat he says awaits them.
I was rooting for her the whole way through and found the ending satisfying.
Thoroughly enjoyed this story and will be looking for more from this author. I don't give many books five stars, but this is a definite five star book for me.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.

I enjoy books with children with mental issues, such as The Push by Ashley Audrain and The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry. As a mother of two kids on the spectrum, I can often relate to parents/families who have children who deviate from the norm. So from the title alone, I expected to enjoy The Guilty Girl. Without giving away spoilers, this book can't be compared to the others I mentioned. The pace of the first half of the book is pretty slow without much action I did find it an interesting perspective to have a girl who has been sheltered discover modern technology she was unaware of for 12 years, including smart phones with cameras and the Internet. She and her dad were still watching Columbo on VHS. The storyline has potential but is not executed well. The book picks up in the second half as all of the pieces fall into place. Unfortunately I found the ending excruciating annoying and unrealistic. There are also many trigger warnings readers should be made aware. I would not recommend this book to others.

An excellent read from the first chapter. Lots of twists and turns along the way. Have never read any of Ruth Harrow books but definitely going to search out another to add to my collection.

This book was entertaining to read and I was interested to find out what happened to Chloe/Ruby. There wasn't much of a twist at the end and I was confused what the deal was the Jack in the last two pages. Parts of this could have been edited more thoroughly and it kind of had a chat gpt feeling at the end. The last few chapters in particular. Aside from that it was entertaining and it didn't take e long to get through it. I like thrillers because they are fast paced and don't take long to read so this one fit the bill for that.

The Guilty Girl by Ruth Harrow
Chloe has lived in a small rundown cottage in the middle of the wood with her father for the last twelve years. She has nothing much to do all day but reread her worn books, clean, and cook. Her father and her watch a new Colombo episode on their VHS player every three months, other than that they don’t watch tv, and once a month her dad takes her on a walk in the woods. She isn’t allowed out other than that one time a month. Chloe is very sheltered, with her only companion her father, so when she see her friends the trees falling down, she explores the cottage and discovers that the basement window is able to open, and she can climb out. When she goes to explore she meets a boy the same age as her named Matt. When her father discovers she broke the rules and left the cottage, he becomes very angry, telling her again how she must stay hidden to protect herself.
As she talks to Matt, she begins to question her dad, breaking more of his rules. What secrets is her father hiding? Why does her father keep her locked up? Although the beginning starts a little slow, it quickly starts to pick up with twists and turns.
I definitely recommend this for fans of Daniel Hurst and Freida McFadden.

This book made me so mad! I can’t even explain why because it will ruin the whole story. I knew part of the twist, I saw it coming a mile away, but OMG there was way more to it then I had expected. The book was a little slow going in the beginning, but it picked up the pace & at about 78% in slapped me in the face.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
The Guilty Girl by Ruth Harrow was a really intriguing thriller with captivating writing. It was different. It was intense! This psychological thriller is full of twists and turns, and just when you think things can't get more shocking they do!
Probably a bit too long!
I would cut a bit in the middle or would like a bit more suspense there.
It gave me The Stillwater Girls by Minka Kent vibes for sure!
This book wasn't easy. All I could do was breathe deeply to survive. Ok, I know I am dramatic :D
Chloe’s life was simple until she met Matt, the boy who inspired her to look for more. Chloe is a teenager locked in the house but now she is ready to escape. She just didn't realise what will be the consequences when her dad will found out...
Thank youInkubator Books and NetGalley :)

I liked this book and didn’t really expect the twist. It was different from others I’ve read and that made it a nice change of pace

I know this was an ARC but this really does need an in depth editorial review. I’m not going to go into examples of the sentence structure errors or inconsistencies but they create distractions and make the overall writing seem childish.
For me, this book was very predictable. In fact, I was hoping that the familiar trope of ‘child kidnapped by parent’ would end up with an interesting twist or a different ending that what you would expect. However, the plot is just exactly what you expect.
Disappointing read.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC

The Guilty Girl by Ruth Harrow is a really great thriller.
The writing was really good, and the author did a good job bringing the reader into the story.
The mystery element of the story was engaging.
The characters were intriguing.
And the storytelling was held my attention from front to end.
Thank You NetGalley and Inkubator Books for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

Really enjoyed this book. Lots of twists and turns along the way with some fab twist! Thanks for the early read!

Chloe has lived in a cottage ever since she was 4 years old with her father. Her father would keep all the windows locked and doors locked to keep Chloe inside. Her only rule was to stay in the house and one day she didn’t stay in the house and that’s when things started going down hill for Chloe and she finally got the truth she needed.
This is a good book started off slow but started picking up into 50% of the book. Had a really good plot twist.
Thanks NetGalley and Ruth Harrow for the opportunity to read this book.

This is a seriously good book!! From the first page I was pulled into Chloe’s world, I felt what she felt and my heart pounded at times. A really well written novel that highlights control within families. I loved it.
