Wow, what a book!!!

If you are a fan of fast-paced thrillers with short chapters, this is the book for you. It felt very Freida McFadden-esque. The storyline was incredible and the twist… THE TWIST! I was obsessed. Chloe is isolated from the outside world, living in a cottage with only her father for company, until one day she meets Matt.

I loved how the characters developed and literally could not stop reading. I flew through the book.

I was a little hesitant about the epilogue at first but I do think it was very tastefully done and worked well.

My only MINOR criticism (if you can even call it that) is Ruby/Chloe’s ability to be able to tell when some things are off when she had been so isolated from the outside world. It sometimes felt like she wouldn’t have naturally been able to recognise those things. But it didn’t prevent my enjoyment of the book.

Ruth Harrow, bravo.

An excellent read from the first chapter. Lots of twists and turns along the way. Have never read any of Ruth Harrow books but definitely going to search out another to add to my collection.

Oh I loved this one! Ruth Harrow writes Chloe's character brilliantly - with the naivety and curiosity you would expect from a teen who has lived here life shut away!

The plot is developed well, with enough suspense that you want to know what happens next. I found the last chapter or two a little rushed, it would have been great to see the conclusion drawn out just a little more. But in saying that the conclusion was satisfying and the twists throughout the book were great. Definitely one I would recommend!

Thank you NetGalley for the great read!

The Guilty Girl by Ruth Harrow pulled me in immediately and did not let me go until the final page. This is a book that, once started, you will not want to put down, so be sure to clear your schedule for an immersive and thrilling read.

Chloe has been held captive by her father for the past twelve years. Told that everything he does is to keep her safe from a very harsh outside world, Chloe is kept in isolation in a small cottage where she is allowed only to study, cook, and clean. Leaving the cottage will lead to drastic repercussions. Chloe has always done as her father demands, but a glimpse of the outside world during a daring venture will change everything that she knows about herself, and the man who has made himself the very centre of her existence.

This was such a tense, often heartpounding, read and I was completely captivated throughout. I look forward to reading much more from this author.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Inkubator Books for an ARC.

Chloe’s life was simple, just her and her dad only she can’t go outside. Until one day a tree gets cut down in their yard and new neighbors move in. Matt takes an interest in Chloe and she begins to learn there is a lot more to life than just her house and her dad.

Reading from Chloe’s point of view really pulls you into the story and makes the reveals even more shocking. The story shows how fragile children are to their parents influence.

This is a very quick read that I finished in only 2 days. Some of the turns are predictable but the story is still enjoyable. If you’re looking for a face paced thriller this book is for you!
There are some trigger warnings for depression, anxiety, child abuse suicide.

Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC, I loved this book!

I did like this book buttttt i don't know, something was missing. The mystery was decent but i guess the story didn't captivate me much. I did try to guess what was going to happen but i wasn't right.
Sooo overall it is a nice book but just didn't grab my attention.

Thanks to Net gallery and the publisher for providing me an arc of the book in exchange of my honest review :))

Overall, I thought this was a pretty interesting thriller. The entire time while reading it, I was trying to figure out how the story fit and I am pleased to say I didn’t figure it out!

I did find the beginning 50% ish of the book to be a little long and drawn out but once I got past that and the action kicked up, it really kicked up.

I was glad for a happy ending and that Chloe / Ruby was reunited with her family (& that Matt was okay!)

A fast paced read from this wonderful author.
Creepy and unnerving with well written characters. I willed our main character to do certain things many times. Stockholm syndrome springs to mind?
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my copy.
A fabulous not to be missed read.

The Guilty Girl is a one sitting fast paced bingeable action packed psychological thriller. I read this one in an afternoon, it was the perfect escape. From the start I was engrossed in the story and refused to put the book down until the end.

Although some parts could be found to be a little repetitive, it was still an intensely enjoyable read. The premise was unsettling and creepy, wondering what truly is happened and is happening? Who did what? Why are they running? I loved how the secrets were all uncovered piece by piece until the final twist.

Harrow has some great storytelling skills, she was able to keep me hooked and engaged without ever having a dull moment. I was glued to my kindle. Highly entertaining read !

For the past 12 years, Chloe has believed her father has been keeping her safe. Everything he does is for her safety- even if it means keeping her locked in a cottage, with no friends, no internet, and no school. All Chloe knows is that house and her father, nothing more. It's not until Chloe meets her new neighbor that she starts questioning her father's real motive and reason for keeping her locked inside and isolated from the rest of the world. When Chloe does confront her father about it, he reveals a dark secret, leading her to believe she is the reason they're forced to live their lives that way. As time goes by, Chloe has more questions as things start seeming more and more suspicious. Her father appears to be hiding much more than he leads on. Chloe learn her father is not the caring, nurturing person she always thought him to be.
As a newcomer to Ruth Harrow books, I had no idea what to expect but I am truly blown away! She has an amazing and captivating style of writing, one that made me not want to put this book down! This psychological thriller is filled with twists and turns, and just when you think things can't get more shocking they do! I was completely immersed in this book from start to finish!

Thank you NetGalley, Inkubator Books, and Ruth Harrow for such an amazing ARC!

Occasionally, I crave a fast-paced read that I can devour in one sitting, and today I indulged in just that with this book.

While I found the beginning somewhat repetitive, and despite foreseeing every major plot twist, I still immensely enjoyed this book and couldn't tear myself away from it! Surprisingly, there were still moments that caught me off guard. The premise was unsettling, keeping me engaged throughout. As the story progressed, all the secrets were unveiled, fitting together like pieces of a puzzle.

An entertaining, twisted, and addictive read!

Gratitude to Netgalley and Inkubator books for providing the ARC edition of this book.

Chloe is serving a life sentence. In her own home. Ever since the horrific day her mother died, Chloe's life has been anything but normal - more like a carefully constructed prison. Her father hasn’t let her go to school, have friends or leave the house alone. As she grows up, Chloe begins to question the motives behind her dad's obsessive control. What would happen if she broke one of his many rules? And what exactly is he hiding under the overgrown grass in the back garden? When new neighbors arrive next door, they trigger a chain of events that causes Chloe to suspect her father's motives are far darker than she knew. Now she faces the terrifying consequences of defying the man who controls her every waking moment. Will she risk everything to win her freedom or will her father’s dark secrets keep her captive forever?

Sometimes, I love a fast-faced book that I can binge in one sitting and that is exactly what I did with this book today.

I found the beginning of the book quite repetitive and even though I predicted every single major plot twist, I still reallllllly liked this book and couldn’t put it down! There were still parts that surprised me, though. The premise was quite unsettling, keeping you on your toes. Towards the end, all of the truths are revealed and the pieces of the puzzle fall into place nicely.

A fun, twisted, binge-worthy read!

Thank you Netgalley and Inkubator books for the ARC edition of this book.

Rule number one: stay inside. Chloe is a teenager locked in the house by her controlling father except for a trip outside once a month. She is the narrator of the book. As a child, she remembers seeing blood in the bathtub and then never seeing her again. Her father has hidden her away from the outside world. I thought the book was predictable, but it had a surprising twist! I finished it in one day.

Thank you Inkubator Books for providing this book for review consideration via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
