I don't really cook a lot of food that is specifically vegetarian but thought this book was a good place to start. In fact, I think Meatless All Day is a great place for anyone who is thinking of cooking more vegetarian food to start. The recipes are simple enough to follow and don't require any particularly specialized ingredients which is helpful (although there were a few things that I think you would only be able to get in American supermarkets rather than British ones. Out of all these though, I did like the recipes for Fall Pears with Maple Syrup - in fact most of the breakfast recipes were lovely - and Tabbouleh.
Great simple vegetarian/vegan recipes that are easy to follow. 4 stars.

Many people today are on a diet of one kind or another. Atkins, paleo, gluten-free, dairy-free, sugar-free, low-fat ...

In fact, if you're not on a diet of some kind, you might be the anomaly.

Here's a question for you. What do you know about eating meatless meals? Aside from the health benefits offered by a vegetarian or meatless diet, going meatless for one or more meals a week might even save you money.

Where to find out more information? Check out Meatless All Day by Dina Cheney.

This beautifully rendered and illustrated (with color photographs so realistic you'll want to reach right into the picture and pluck out the produce or finished product to taste yourself!) cookbook is also a comprehensive guide on eating more meatless meals.

In addition to mouthwatering recipes for every meal from breakfast to dinner (supper) and in between, you'll find expert wisdom, tips, recommendations, and resources, as well as encouraging and easy-to-follow directives on cooking basics like how to scramble eggs, what roasting actually means, and how to play with meat-like flavors and textures in your otherwise meatless offerings.

And let me be the first to reassure you that going meatless for a meal or two, or more, each week doesn't mean starvation. Far from it, in fact. For breakfast, pick from egg dishes packed with vegetables, sweet or savory pancakes, scones, and more. For lunch, think salads with delicious combinations of unexpected ingredients, while dinner could be anything from pasta to meatless meatloaf (yes, it's possible!).

If you'd like to try your hand at the meatless diet, whether full-time or just once or twice a week, pick up a copy of Meatless All Day for user-friendly recipes and an author whose voice of experience will set you immediately at ease.

I am just working on my vegetarian journey. I requested this book when I first started thinking about it but never wanted to take the plunge into veggies. I decided it was time.

I love the idea of veggie and even vegan meals. I am working to help my hubby like more of the veggie meals as well. Some of the food is interesting, although it does say meatless, not vegetarian. I did pick it up for a more veggie-based cookbook but there is a lot of dairy and eggs.

Very helpful since it's not completely throwing me out of my comfort zone right away, but if you are already a vegetarian or even a vegan, this may not be the right cookbook for you.

As a vegetarian (mostly vegan), this book is good - not too overwhelming for a new person, and really help those who are trying to do a "meatless" Monday and not fully becoming a vegetarian. The recipes are not too complicated and offer some nice alternatives for the novice cook. Nothing that makes you feel like you need a degree in cooking.

This would be a great vegetarian cookbook for families who eat a lot of wheat and dairy. Unfortunately, that is not our family. This book is so heavy on animal products for a vegetarian cookbook that it's a little surprising. It calls for so much cheese, eggs, milk, cream, etc. I get that it's not a vegan cookbook, but I was still a little surprised at how heavy it was on animal products. Also, as a gluten free family I was unable to make 95% of the recipes. They call for lots and lots of panko bread crumbs, white bread, white flour, etc. There are some nice color photos, and many of the dishes look like they would taste great. They just aren't a good fit for our family's needs.

So I am always looking for meatless meals to make for our family. This book had alot of helpful information on good alternatives and how to make things. Our family thoug is dairy and gluten free, so alot of these recipes are no go's for us. I liked the look of alot of the recipes but for a family (at least mine) they did not seem very kid friendly. I will definetly try these for just me and my husband.
Lastly this is not a begineers book. If you haven't cooked much or aren't familiar with meatless meals, this will not be an easy book.

Rather a bland cookery book for me, I'm afraid, although I have been keen to introduce more vegetarian meals into my repertoire. It certainly wouldn't persuade me to go totally meat-free, but I might be tempted to try some of the recipes over time.
