Chitose has always had a crush on Tomo since he was a kid, same as her. He made a promise that he will be with Tomo , when he gets older and taller. Now that he’s a little bit older, he still shorter than Tomo . So he keeps his promises that he will keep on growing. I like that he tried everything to make himself tall and to keep his promise. I also like that Tomo is always sharing food or anything with Chitose. These two together are so cute. They have so many funny moments. They always are there for each other when one of them is down. This manga is so adorable. I like it so much. I also like that they both talk to their friends about each other so much. I can’t wait to see what happens with the next volume.

This was really adorable. It’s a cute, high school, slice of life, romance manga. The characters are all really cute, the romance is a little slow since they are still in that phase of liking each other but not saying anything, but the situations are cute and I’m rooting for the main couple. I like that it’s switched up from the normal ML-FL pairings, where here the guy is a year or two younger and a lot shorter. It’s also pretty funny. The chapters are really short so it feels like a very quick read. I definitely want to read more and finally see this couple get together. If you like this genre of manga, then I would definitely recommend checking this one out. Oh and it’s from the ML’s POV which isn’t as common for shojo romance mangas and I liked it.

I am a huge fan of manga and anime so whenever I see one that interests me I read it straight away.

This was an adorable read about two friends growing up and one wanting to marry the other but is shorter than her and needs to be taller, the friendship and closeness are adorable making me sit every few pages going awwww. There are a few scenes I laughed at but other than that the story is engaging and fun with lovely artwork and a story I cannot wait to continue reading

Soooo…..this was a little boring for me.

Nothing really happened and so it didn’t hook me in.
I initially liked the concept in the beginning but then there wasn’t much going on after.

This was such a funny and sweet volume, the main characters were adorable in love with each other and their miscommunications were predictable and expected but still fun to read.

I loved this book.
We get to know the characters little by little, and they are so cute and adorable.
We know who they are now and a little about their past, which now conditions their present, and the development of the romance!! Their height difference and a problem on the comminution department!!
I just love it. It's so funny and full of humor. And her family loves him so much, and always tries to help. It's the best.
The chapters are so small, and I like this format so much. It just makes me want to read the next one more.

This was very sweet and a “troupe breaker” as its a short male character x tall female character. Their dynamic was very sweet and I enjoyed myself. Its definitely a basic highschool romance but i would recommend regardless.

This is a cute romance, with a very episodic plot style. Each chapter is a bit like a new "episode"; it's very much a slice-of-life romance. The premise is simple but so cute. The main characters made a promise to marry one another, but only once Chitose became taller than Tomo. The issue? Tomo is naturally very tall, while Chitose is naturally pretty short. He's head over heels for her, so he's doing his best to grow so he can finally keep his promise! This story is very cute and kinda silly. The plot does meander a bit more than I would like, but seeing as it's a slice-of-life story, it's excusable. I really like the art style as well!

You Must Be This Tall to Propose! is an utter joy to read. It’s such a sweet, funny manga. Its short chapters lend it the intimacy of glimpses into the everyday lives of its characters rather than a fast pace. Its cast is charming and Mifuyu instantly endears the reader by introducing us to little Chitose and Tomo the day they make their agreement. They’re so cute and sweet.

Its wider cast are introduced simply, but clearly. Some tertiary characters remain one note but most already being expanded upon. This isn’t a criticism. I know exactly which character is which. Their personalities and dynamics with others. If anything, there was a bit more development than I’d expected, for instance, with Akito and Haruka.

I love the comedy. Miscommunication can be hilarious and I especially enjoyed it here. Chitose has a very defined view of manhood that he strives for that drives some of the comedy. It’s not taken seriously by the manga – but not at Chitose’s expense. It could easily be mean-spirited but it’s not at all. The miscommunication is also much subtler than I’d expected from the description. I thought it would oppose Tomo and Chitose but they’re very sweet, both generally and with one another. You really root for them through their mishaps.

There has been criticism that it doesn’t have an overarching plot. That’s both true and not. The manga is clearly invested in Chitose and Tomo’s relationship and their becoming a couple. It could do a more typical and obvious overarching plot well but I think that it’s made what it is very obvious and it excels at it. You Must Be This Tall to Propose! is a perfect lighthearted, feel-good read.

You Must Be This Tall to Propose 1 is the first book in the manga series by Fumi Mifuyu. The second book comes out later this month. In You Must Be This Tall to Propose 1 we see Chitose and his long-standing adoration for his neighbor, Tomo. The big problem? Tomo is two years older and way more than two inches taller than Chitose, who promised he would marry her when he was bigger than her.

I adored this manga. Each chapter is written and illustrated in vignettes, showing each of the sweet moments between these two. At multiple points I LOL'd, especially at the moment where Tomo's breasts touch the back of Chitose's neck and he literally goes to space. Tomo's brothers also played a really fun role with attempting to get Chitose and Tomo together.

Overall, this was a sweet romance manga that did not disappoint. I look forward to the next book coming out this month. Thank you to NetGalley for providing me a digital copy of this manga in exchange for my honest review.

Received via NetGalley as an early copy for review. You Must Be This Tall To Propose was a wonderfully sweet and engaging story of unknowingly requited love and the lengths people go to please those they care about. Silly, sweet and all things good await those who crack open this first volume.

This is a story expressed in comic form for all those that remember trying to speak to, in my case, a young girl. That tongue-tied, impossibility to express even one coherent thought. In Chitose Oki’s point of view when he was younger it would be all right when he was older and taller than his dream girl. Well he’s older now, but maybe not tall enough in stature or confidence, or be able to turn his thoughts into the verbal expression that he wants. Thank you to Kodansha Comics for the comic ARC. Really enjoyed the lighthearted and wholesome nature of the main character's relationship with his love interest and her brothers., the latter of which I found especially endearing. While I don't particularly love the fan service in the manga, I do think it's an age-appropriate story overall. I easily see myself coming back to find out what happens next and am eager to see how the relationship flourishes in the following volumes.

I loathe when things have the brother/sister type of bond spoken about while also trying to have those characters fall for each other. The age difference is potentially problematic since it's not directly stated but it's clear he's at least a few years younger than her. If it weren't for those things this could potenitally be a cute story.

Chitose has been in love with his childhood friend, Tomo, ever since he was five years old. He was rejected on the basis of being shorter than her, and since then, he’s been keeping his feelings close to his heart.

This was a sweet series with endearing characters! Tomo is very fond of Chitose, and their families are really close. I love the acceptance of couples with a taller girl and a shorter boy, and there’s multiple throughout the series! I feel like guys have more pressure to be tall, and Chitose definitely feels it here, but their surroundings and environments don’t judge or care for the height difference between the couples.

Unfortunately, the plot feels repetitive and the characters are stuck in a cycle of clearly being in love with each other but neither one taking action to talk about it, but it’s a very sweet and wholesome book. Both characters have a very supportive friend and family circle that actively encourage them to spend time together. It’s very cute, heartwarming, and cozy read.

When Chitose was 5-years-old, he decided that when he is finally taller than Tomo-nee, he will propose to her. At 15-years-old he is still shorter than Tomo-nee. He still believes that he will become taller than her. The hilarious part is that she only expects him to propose when he exceeds the height that she was when he asked ten years ago. He took it as him needing to be taller than Tomo-nee. Talk about miscommunication. The good part is that they both like each other. They just have to communicate a little more. Clear up some of the misunderstandings, even though they seem to be fine going at the pace they are going.

This was a fairly cute volume. I enjoyed most of the interactions between Chitose and Tomo-nee. You can tell that they both like each other and do want to be together. It is funny that Chitose has a whole plan to become big. He first has to become tall enough and then he will work out to get muscle. I’m not sure why he does not feel the need to work out already, but his plan is his plan. It’s also nice that the brothers are fine with Chitose wanting to marry Tomo-nee, which probably has to do with him calling them brother, which they really wanted someone to do so.

I will most likely continue reading this series, but it is another that I do not feel the need to read immediately. This would be one that I would end up picking up when I’m in the mood for.
