Fantastic author! Great pacing and great development for the characters. I was heavily invested in the plot and descriptive settings.

Thank you NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.
Love & Lattes was the quick cute summer read that I needed.
I love everything about this book- the dynamics with the MC's friends, family and co-workers. I love the character development throughout the book- the author does such a fantastic job of really making you care about not only the MC but also the side characters. I saw so much of myself in the main character. This would be such a great book for high school kids to read so they can get a glimpse of college and internships and work life even though this is clearly a fictional work. I also highly recommend this book to anyone who is a "people pleaser" or a "workaholic". The thing that really makes this book stand out is the epilogue which catches the reader up on what the characters are up to several years after the main story ended and ties everything up in a neat little package with a bow. All that to say, this is a great book and definitely worth the read.
(Side note: my only complaint is that I would say the title and cover art doesn't really match the vibe and content of the book. I would've gone with something more to do with office/work/internship and cake with plates of multiple types of cakes on the cover.)

After enjoying Beach Cute, I'm surprised at how hard I had to slog to finish this book. It was amateurish, repetitive, and far too long. It was off from the get go.

The book opens with a kick-off party at a bar for the new college interns at a top tier firm. Anna ends up meeting a guy, sharing a kiss, and then realizing on Monday morning he is the son of the CEO. In her mind he ignores her and the book becomes 400 pages of Katy Perry's song "Hot and Cold." It's scene after scene of getting together, then calling it off, getting together, then calling it off. Ad nauseum. No part of it was enjoyable for me.

From the get-go the plot is all wrong. Anna, a self-proclaimed social outcast, befriends Lloyd, shares far too many personal details, and ends up kissing him. The story climaxes in chapter 2. And the end of chapter 3 can be seen a mile away. Everything is exactly what you expect to happen, and yet is not what realistically WOULD happen, which makes the whole thing doubly disappointing. Anna is beyond annoying as a character. She blames Lloyd for kissing her as if she had no part in it. She sulks when he doesn't fawn over her, but just as quickly pushes him away when he does. Who wants to be friends with someone like that, let alone date her? Lloyd is just as bad and it's not even his fault. It's the author's fault. He's not consistent. His personality is all over the place. He shows up everywhere like a stalker and yet he's often described as ecocentric. Sometimes he's a nice guy, sometimes and angry guy, sometimes a sarcastic guy. He just doesn't square.

As for the "hot and cold" aspect, that's because there's always an incongruence. Anna likes Loyd, then doesn't. She thinks he should be doting, then she doesn't. And don't get me started on the runaround that involves her mother. All trite and banal.

I need a real break after this book.

Beth Reekles is absolutely one of my favorite authors! I find her books to be so relatable and entertaining. I cannot wait to share my full review for Love & Lattes ….I love a good office/intern book and this is the perfect choice for a light summer read that is relatable, fun, and romantic.

Annalise got a summer internship and absolutely does not have time for a relationship or romance. However the night before she starts her internship she goes out with the other interns and meets a guy, whom she kisses! She thought that was the end of that until the guy works at Arrowmile, the company where her internship is! What will happen next? Ready this book to find out if an office romance is in Anna’s future or if she can resist temptation!!!

Highly recommend!!

loved this romance that happened in the workplace and trying not to cross any lines. Loved that they both wanted to stand on their own feet and they both had issues with their parents. loved lloyed and his brother. Loved the romance and how they figured things out.

A cute quick read. I found it fun and entertaining but not very memorable. It was a good book for a reality escape though.

Parts of this book I really liked. I loved the banter between Annalise and Lloyd, and I enjoyed the surprise twists at the end (especially with Annalise's mom). I did find that the workplace drama and interns' relationships read a bit juvenile. However, I did think the book was incredibly sweet and I know several of my high school romance readers will love this one. I will definitely be ordering for my library.
