Requested and downloaded this book back in 2013 with every intention of reading it but then it expired on my device before I had the chance. Have felt bad about that and as a result haven't wanted to leave a review but with more and more publishers relying on Feedback ratings I need to clear out some of these older titles in my queue.

Come to me Quietly is the first book in the Closer to You seriest. I can’t believe I have had this on my iPad since 2014! I am so glad I got caught up enough with my blog reviews that I could finally read this duet.

Six years. Six years since Jared left Phoenix, AZ and didn’t look back. He couldn’t. Until, one day he woke up and drove. Drove to his hometown. To where his life was forever changed at the age of sixteen. He doesn’t know why he was pulled in the direction of his hometown but he is there. He doesn’t have a plan but then when he runs into his childhood best friend, Chris at a bar, he has a place to stay until he figures it out. He knew it wouldn’t be easy being around him but he had no idea how hard it would be to be around his best friend’s little sister, Aly. When he left she was a fourteen year old and now she was a woman. A woman who he shouldn’t be thinking about. About holding, and kissing. And definitely not feeling. He doesn’t think he deserves to be happy. To be loved.

Aly has always felt a bond to him. He never left her behind when Christopher didn’t want her around. He protected her. Always. He was her hero. Her crush. Her everything. Then one day, he left and never came back. She thought about him every day over the last six years so when she walks into her shared apartment with her brother and he is sleeping on the couch, she is in awe. He is still the boy she loved but he is also a man haunted. Haunted by the past. She sees it in his eyes. She knows she can’t fix him but she wants to show him that he deserves to be happy.

Jared and Aly’s relationship is epic but it is also complex. He has always been the one for her. He always cared about her but didn’t realize how much until he is saw her again. He wanted her. He craved her. But he knows he will hurt her in the end. He ruined everything. He didn’t want to do that to the only woman he felt anything for. He also didn’t want to lie to his best friend about the way he feels for his sister. He was warned but now he can’t turn back. He knows he should. It’s complicated. Heartbreaking. Strong. Sexy.

Overall...I loved this story! The characters are amazing. The story is emotional. The writing is fantastic. I am so happy that I have the second book waiting for me!

Quotes:

Everything about him was dangerous. Just as dangerous as he was beautiful.

“I ruin every fucking thing I touch, Aly, and I refuse to ruin you.”

She was the only one who’d touched me in years, the only one who’d made me feel.
