As the title suggests, this cookbook is so approachable. Many of the recipes are perfect for an afternoon snack - for the kids after school, as a pick-me-up in the last few hours of the workday, or as a weekend treat. This would be a fun cookbook to cook through!

I enjoyed Sarah Kieffer’s latest cookbook, 100 Afternoon Sweets. Her earlier release, 100 Cookies, is probably my most-used cookbook and this book is likely to be another favorite. Great photos, great instructions. She includes both ingredient weight and measurements, which I love. There’s a good mix of simple and more complicated recipes.

I love this series. The recipes are easy to follow and so yummy. There is a great variety with easy to find ingredients. The pictures are true to the finished product and representative of taste. Faves are Oatmeal Fudge Bars, Maple Orange Carrot Cake, and Pumpkin Streusel Pie. Thanks to Chronicle Books and Net Galley for the ARC. This is my honest review.

I'm a huge fan of Sarah Kieffer and I was excited for the opportunity to review her latest book. The wide variety of recipes made this book so much fun. Kieffer involves a large number of flavors and techniques. She does a great job of explaining basics and equipment n the beginning. My favorites are the Classic Crumb Cake and the banana bread bars, but I'm looking forward to trying many more of the recipes.

This holiday season was the perfect time to bust out this cookbook. I am the dedicated desert person in my household and I wanted to break away from my usual banana pudding. There are so many recipes to choose from and so many photographs so it keeps you inspired with the visuals. I am a HUGE brownie lover, and so is my husband. We never break away from the tried and true chocolate brownies, so I thought it was the perfect time to try Sarah's recipe for the Bourbon Blondie Brownies. They were delicious! I am not a huge fan of recipes that involve alcohol but I was pleasantly surprised by these. The were moist (I know that word is forbidden LOL) and sweet, as a brownie should be 😊.. I am excited to use more recipes out of this book, and I'm super excited that I have an entire cookbook dedicated to desert!

The author tempts us with a variety of options including familiar baked goods as well as no-bakes that are just as enticing as an afternoon respite.
I like when authors share notes up front that guide how to best use their recipes to reach a successful baking conclusion. This author also shares in a few of her recipes that use almond flour in combination with other flours to get the best results.

The snacks I consider classic are included as one bowl bakes which makes snacking after a quick clean up even better and my go to is the Blueberry Muffin Cake. If you are a pie person, the inclusion of pie snack/afternoon sweets options is for you. This book will get a lot of use any season.

I have all of Sarah Kieffer's books. I was so happy to receive an advanced readers copy of this one. Not all of us are fantastic bakers. 100 Afternoon Sweets can be tackled at any baking level. I especially liked the no bake chapter. The Scotcheroo blondies and the confetti cake with berry buttercream came out perfectly. Excited to tackle some of the other recipes later this year. Thank you to the author and publisher for this copy.

Popular food blogger, Sarah Kieffer is known for a series of cookbooks, all excellent, but 100 Afternoon Sweets: With Snacking Cakes, Brownies, Blondies, and More (100 Baking Recipes for Every Kitchen) may just be her best. It is full of mouthwatering baked goods that are hard to resist.

This cookbook includes pies, cakes, bars, brownies, pastries, and basics such as caramel, basic buttercreams (several flavors), pie crust, croissant dough, and puff paste, etc. The recipes – not necessarily just for afternoons – are very tempting. There are even no-bake recipes including ice cream and crispy treats.

The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed first, followed by step-by-step instructions. None are particularly difficult to make and bakers, both beginning and advanced, will find they have no trouble making them. There are well-written comments, tips, and vignettes at the beginning to each of the recipes.

One positive thing about this cookbook is that most of the recipes include beautiful, professional photographs that give bakers a hint about what the finished product will look like.

According to some of the other reviewers, their copies came with a list of errors that are in the book. I haven’t had any trouble with any of the recipes I have tried – they have all turned out good – so, I’m not sure if my copy was corrected before publishing. All told, this is an excellent cookbook and I plan to bake recipes from it often.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

This is a lovely dessert cookbook. There's plenty of recipes I want to try out!

The introduction section is well written and has useful descriptions and explanations on her choices. especially if you're an experienced beginner.
The food photography is very tempting.
I generally appreciate the organization of the book. The recipes are all clear and easy to follow. I did get a little annoyed at the references to other recipes that were found elsewhere in the book. My cookbook preference is to have recipes that require other recipes to have the required secondary recipe follow immediately after.
