Many thanks to @berkleyromance @netgalley and @prhaudio for the digital and audio advanced copies of this action-packed, closed-door romance! It completely delivers on the fun, fast-paced, swoon-worthy story I was hoping for. #berkleypartner #prhaudioinfluencer

Andee Paxton is one of the top fireworks designers in the country, but her world is turned upside down when an online DNA test reveals that her biological father is Holt, a notorious arms dealer who recently escaped from prison. Suddenly, the CIA is at her doorstep, looking to use her as bait to lure Holt out of hiding. But before they can execute their plan, Andee and CIA Officer Chan are kidnapped—and Andee impulsively claims Chan as her boyfriend to protect his cover. Now, they're fake-dating while being held captive by Holt, who is plotting a scheme with devastating global consequences. Can Andee and Chan outwit Holt, escape, and save the world? And, with all that close proximity and undeniable chemistry, can they keep their "relationship" strictly fake?

I adored the first book in this series, The Spy and I, but rest assured, these can be enjoyed as standalones. Mr. Nice Spywas a five-star read for me because it ticked all the boxes I hoped it would: fun, fast-paced, and action-packed, closed-door romance. Andee’s STEM background and Chan’s CIA skills made them a perfect team, navigating one danger after another. I especially appreciated the representation of Chan’s hearing loss, their use of sign language, and the attention to hearing aid technology—those details added depth to his character and the story.
If you’re looking for an adventure-driven, closed-door romance with a blend of humor, suspense, and heart, this one is a must-read!

The audiobook, narrated by @finkeboutit, is fantastic. She brings the characters and the action to life with her dynamic performance. Fans of her work in Ready or Not and Love and Other Conspiracies will not be disappointed.

I enjoyed this book a lot more than the first one in the series, which I need to say is a total compliment because authors should be getting better with every book they write. Those who don't like instalove will not like this, but good for me idrc as long as the chemistry is good. And trust me the chemistry is good. There is a certain difficulty that comes with writing an interesting plot that takes place mostly in an underground bunker. But trust me, I ate this UP. The combination of both the action and romance made it unable to put down!!!

This was a great follow up to "The Spy and I". This can be read as a stand-alone, but there are plenty of references to the first book that make it fun. I hope the author continues this series.

I thought the hard of hearing representation of our male main character was very well done. The main relationship was a bit insta-lovey, but I still enjoyed their overall progression. Not much happens in the first half of the book - there is a lot of time setting everything up, but the last half makes up for that. Overall this was a very fun, quick read.

Rated 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 stars. Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the ARC ebook.

This book was one that I absolutely could have read in one sitting if life didn't get in the way! I adored the HoH representation in this story, and all of the characters were so well written (I mean, who couldn't love Chan?). This book was definitely on the same level as The Spy and I, and I loved them both.

While "Mr. Nice Spy" took a hot minute to get into thanks to the exposition, it eventually picked up to deliver an interesting and intriguing romance-slash-action story. It reads quite quickly, and I found that I barely wanted to put it down. It was short enough that I could polish this one off in a single day and feel completely satisfied. While it's heavy on the romance (mostly closed-door), there's an equally prevalent action-slash0spy subplot that was intriguing. And since I'm a plot girlie, that satisfied my reading appetite.

Also, Adam Chan (MC Andee's love interest) is hard-of-hearing and wears hearing aids (and depicted on the book cover), which love to see the representation! Author Tiana Smith also handled his story line with care and showcased an authentic, real HOH character who didn't let his hearing impairment define him, his badass career as a CIA agent and a hot AF, swoony love story with Andee.

A fun follow-up to Tiana Smith's previous book, The Spy and I! Readers of the first book will quickly recognize the MMC, Adam Chan, a CIA officer introduced in the previous book, while the FMC , Andee, was referenced in the first book, she takes center stage in this one. The villain remains the same, Holt, who is determined to bring his daughter, Andee, into his criminal web and utilize her skills and knowledge as a fireworks expert to help move his dastardly plans forward.
The book was a fun read and includes tropes such as fake relationship and forced proximity, requiring Andee and Adam to work closely together to escape Holt's capture, as well as bring down his plans.

It was a quick read, a great follow-up to the Spy and I, and left me wanting more books in this universe.

I throughly enjoyed this book!
Andee is a pyro kinetic engineer who discovers she is the daughter of a crime lord. She meets handsome Chan at a bar and discovers he was sent by the CIA to speak with her. When Andee and Chan are kidnapped they use their time to discover the crime lord’s secret plans and get up to some romance.
Over all it was a fun read. I LOVED the hard of hearing representation and sign language representation! I did feel the story go a little hung up in the middle and there wasn’t enough action but overall I had a lot of fun reading it.

So much fun! As with the first book in this series, Smith melds the perfect blend of romance and action with competent and caring MCs and a truly awful (in a good way) villain.

This was SO much fun! I love a good spy romance but it's so hard to tiptoe that line of action/comedy/romance. Tiana Smith does a fantastic job.

5/5 so good!! Loved this book and the banter was so good. This book is technically a romance but there’s so much thriller and suspense scenes in it that it makes it so much more exciting! Andee and Chan have my heart!! They both have so much chemistry and they just flow so well together!

I had such a blast with this one! This was smart, sexy, and so much fun! I love a spy book, and a mystery, and a little bit of romance. This was my DREAM book. After finishing this one, I'm now a Tiana Smith fan. I loved that she included a main character who was hard of hearing, and he was hot and Asian too? YES! MORE OF THIS PLEASE! The plot was so much fun, too. I was always on the edge of my seat waiting to know what was going to happen next. I read this in one sitting, and I want more!

Thank you so much to Tiana and Berkley for this e-ARC. I really enjoyed The Spy and I and was excited to read the next standalone. The first half took a bit to get into but the second half was really enjoyable! I appreciated the hard of hearing representation and felt like it was done well. Seeing Andee get roped in to this situation and ultimately getting kidnapped with Chan was interesting and I loved seeing how they navigated the fake dating while dealing with all of the spy/sting operation craziness. Poor Andee just cant catch a break being kidnapped by her bio dad, sheesh. Fun and easy read!

I accidentally pressed "read now" after receiving an invitation for this book. Unfortunately I am not really interested in reading and reviewing it and must apologize for the inconvenience. As always, I appreciate the opportunity to read and review Berkley Books. TY

I wanted to like this one more, I truly did. The last half of the book was much better than the first. I loved the hard of hearing representation. But as a whole, I feel like the romance was too insta-lovey for me and there was barely any tension or sparks between Chan and Andee.

Thank you, NetGalley and Berkley for an ARC of Mr. Nice Spy.

I’m not sure what I was expecting with this book but I thought it would have alot more action and it …did not. The second half was much better than the first, which dragged for me. It was a good read and a quick one but something was just lacking for me. Would have enjoyed a bit more smut in this one.

I loved the first book and this was a good time too! This one felt like to had more romance! Which I loved. Chan was dreamy! And listen can you really go wrong with a spy romance novel?? I think NOT!

Thanks to Berkley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review!

I love romcoms, they can brighten even my darkest days. I read this one while I was on vacation, and it was a true delight. Right as I started reading, I knew I was going to love it because Andee has such an amazing job. She is a pyrotechnic engineer. How cool is that? I don’t think that I have ever read a book with a character with a job like this, so it was a treat.

I didn’t realize that this book was part of an interconnected series. Being interconnected, you don’t need to read the first one for this one to make sense. Adam is a supporting character in book one, and shines as a main character in this book. I fully understood everything that was going on without reading book one, though after reading this one I want to go back and read the first because this one was so good! I adored the writing. It was light and fun and easy to get lost in. I loved how much adventure there was in this romcom as well, just so great.

The author’s note was also a true delight. While reading I had a hunch that hearing loss might be personal to the author, and reading about how and why it was, was special. When you read this book I urge you not to skip this treat.

Spies, romance, general fun, what more do you want out of a book?! For this girl, I'm sold from just that. I really loved the cover of this book, that is what drew me in immediately when I saw promotion for this title. And let me tell you the inside was just as cute as the outside! I had such a fantastic time reading this story and about these characters.

Andee, a pyrotechnic engineer, has been looking for clues as to who she is and where she belongs her whole life. Putting the pieces of her life together one clue at a time gains major momentum when she meets Chan. When faced with a proposal to be the bait in an official sting, she immediately refuses, only to be kidnapped with Chan instead. Fake dating meets life or death, as Andee tries to determine how fake the dating actually is for either one of them.
