My grandson loved this book and found it intriguing.
Many thanks to the author and to NetGalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

When Hat (Halcyone Acasia Tintersmoot) turns twelve a mysterious box arrives from her deceased grandfather. Inside the box is a golden egg and a clue for her to solve. She jumps right into solving it before going to her birthday party at the ice cream shop. On the way home, her father drives past a doughnut shop and it triggers a thought for Hat. She makes him turn around so she can go into the shop and speak to the owner.
It is fast paced and written in the first-person point of view. The characters are developed, and the story moves quickly. I read it in one sitting. It was a wonderful story and I look forward to reading more from this author.
