What a delight! Grump/ sunshine, rivals to lovers, and a really fun take on an epistolary as a love story within a love story. If you liked Emily Henry’s Book Lovers, this is the one for you!

(very Beach Read coded). The tension was built beautifully. The sneak peaks at the Aiden’s POV through the book excerpts were especially *chef’s kiss*.

Who would have thought flirting via a Google Doc could be so hot??

A book for readers about writers!! I absolutely loved the unique concept of this book and it was so refreshing to read a slightly different type of romance book. Enemies to lovers is my favourite trope to read and I sometimes struggle with the slow burn trope but I really stormed through this book.

Rosie is a romance writer who attends a NYU writing program, and like so many, she’s a hopeless romantic with the dream of finding love. I really enjoyed the contract of Rosie and Aiden and how Aiden hates the romance genre - such an unlikely pairing but they worked so well together. They both bicker in class (which soon turns into flirty banter!), and due to them being so disruptive to the rest of the students, their lecturer forces them to write a book together which of course means lots of forced proximity!

For a debut novel, I thought that this was fantastic. It’s clear that Katie has a true passion and understanding of the bookish and publishing world and I really liked her tone of voice throughout the book! I can’t wait to read her future books.

I was absolutely kicking and screaming during this entire book. I loved Rosie and Aiden's chemistry and their love story.

I found Rosie to be an extremely relatable protagonist and I thought the scene where they first hooked up to be really well written from the perspective of a woman who has never been...taken care of, for lack of a better phrase. It's a struggle that so many women go through so I felt like it was important to include even if it was brief. 

I loved this romance so much that I nearly got in trouble neglecting work to read it. With how much I read romance, I rarely ever get this swept off my feet by a first kiss but I was literally holding my breath during that scene.

Such a sweet, enemies to lovers book. Set in NYC Rosie & Aiden are aspiring writers who are forced to work with each other on a novel.
I loved the excerpt within the chapters and how everything turned out to be a HEA.

I loved this book so much. I loved that the characters were both writers, I loved their romance, I loved the NYC setting, I loved the Christmas vibes during the book, I love how soft they got with each other after their rough start. I loved the excerpts from their book. I loved it all. I can’t wait to get a physical copy of this one and reread it.

A very meta romance! Will be a solid romcom for book lovers and readers who like the writer job vibe.

Not in My Book is an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn, spicy romance, with a twist. Our main characters, Rosie and Aiden, are both studying their MFA, they are forced to work together to write a romance/litfic manuscript.
Each chapter is ended by an excerpt of Rosie and Aiden's shared novel, but the line between truth and fiction is a very thin one. The slow burn between Rosie and Aiden is so visceral, the banter is top tier, and how the story comes together in the end is perfect!
Katie Holt has done a fabulous job of showing all of the main characters imperfections, imperfect light, that you can't help but feel that this could be a real story, i had easily fallen in love with these characters, and was definitely hoping for their HEA.

I adored this unique enemies to lovers romance. It held my interest the entire time and I found myself thinking about the characters even when I wasn’t actively reading the book.

I would have liked to have been given a little more insight into Aiden’s background earlier on in the book to help explain why he was the way he was.

All in all a very cute enemies to lovers novel.

Man oh man . Where to start . I absolutely loved this book. Finished it in less than a day ( a work full time so eheh) . The way that I ate Rosie and Aiden’s story up is crazy . The enemies were really trying to tear each others eyes out but the lovers were really loving at some point(🤭). I loved the plot , Katie’s writing and Rosie’s love for romance . I loved how the author managed to write a book inside the book without it sounding complicated or confusing . Katie, my congratulations. I hope to see your book at the top when it comes out , and if not , even if it’s just a normal girl living in London saying it , be damn proud of yourself . Your book is fantastic and I can only hope that more people will love it the way I did and if not , then Katie, come back to this review and know that your book is loved 🥰

Define Romance. Is it happily ever after? Is it the slow burn of rivals to friends to lovers? For me, yes.
Not in my book is my definition of romance.
The characters are real, so angry and guarded and soft and squishy in the middle. The arguments made me clench my fists. The love scenes made me clench my toes.

Katie Holt has done a fabulous job of showing both protagonists in imperfect light, that you can't help but feel the realistic nature of their romance, and falling in love with them. The tension between Rosie and Aiden is so visceral. I could not put this book down and I cannot wait to own my own copy. This will be one that is reread on multiple occasions.

Rosie is a romantic at heart and loves nothing more than writing happy endings, unlike Aiden who has no time for romance and prefers to write literary fiction. To quit their "lashing out" at each other in class, the teacher forces them to write a book together and to figure out how to work with one another. How will they get anywhere with this manuscript when they can't stand one another? Or can they? Aiden has his reasons for being cynical and not believing in love. Despite being drawn to Rosie, Aiden believes he isn't able to give her the love and romance she so wants and deserves. He wants no part in tainting Rosie's heart, so by being standoffish, he makes it easy for Rosie to hate him. But things change when writing their characters in their story opens up an outlet for Rosie and Aiden to start expressing their true feelings for each other.

ARC Review-

This is a book about a book. I loved all the excerpts from the manuscript Rosie and Aiden worked on the entire book. I found it to be a fun way to keep us engaged as a reader. The flow of writing was a little off at times, just some minor incongruity issues. But, overall I found it really enjoyable. There were some one-liners included that really had me chuckling while reading. I liked the dynamic of the friend group, as well as the relationship development between our two main characters. I also loved how passionate and defensive Rosie was about the romance genre as a whole. As a romance reader, I loved how dedicated she was to her craft. Overall, I thought it was a pretty good romcom and I’m really happy I got to read an ARC of it.

I enjoy a good enemies-to-lovers romance, and this did not disappoint. Neither of them minced words. Was Aiden harsh in his critique? Yes. Did Rosie give it right back to him? Of course she did. And I liked that she didn't back down. In fact, there were several times in which Rosie faced a challenge and rose to it. I liked that she faced her fears, and I liked that Aiden knew he could be cold and cruel, but he wanted to change and he wanted to try and be a better man for Rosie. He wanted to be her hero.

That being said, I did find myself at times wondering if these two should be together. At one point, Rosie says to Aiden that she and Aiden are just destined to fight all the time. I wondered a few times if a relationship between them would actually work.

As far as the major conflict...I did find Aiden to be harsh. He played it off as no big deal, and said some real hurtful things to Rosie. Aiden knew her struggles. He should have been way more understanding and apologetic.

This book is one I think that would be great for book groups. There's a lot in this book to unpack. Aiden and Rosie are not flawless, and that's what makes them feel so real. I think it would lend itself to some really great, and possibly very heated, conversations.

I know that I will be recommending it so I can talk about it with others!

This was adorable!

At first, I was hesitant because I thought this was just copying Beach Read, but I couldn't be more wrong! Aside from the bare bones of the plot similarities, the book and characters were completely different and wonderful on their own. I love Aiden so much, he's such a good book boyfriend even though he thinks otherwise. I love Rosie's relentless optimism and defense of the romance genre. I loved the side characters too, especially Ida! Aiden had a pretty good grovel too. Definitely recommend this to book lovers and romance readers, it's special!
