1.) I think sometimes a book just comes along
where you can appreciate the writing and even
the main character but for some reason you don't
connect with it as well as you had hoped to.
2.) This was the case for me and The Transciptionist.
The writing was stunning, beautifully literary and
quite vague in places but I just never felt like I
"got" the point of the story.
3.) Lena is a wonderful main character and I really
enjoyed reading about her initially then by the
middle of the book, the plot was starting to fall
a bit flat for me sadly, and I began to lose interest.
4.) I do think other people would enjoy this novel,
it has a lot to recommend it, especially if you're
a fan of literary fiction. It was just unfortunate
that it didn't capture my attention from beginning
to end.
