My perfect husband by Georgina Cross I listen to the audiobook which was narrated by Stephanie Cannon. In the book we meet Lauren who is married to Alex and has been for years she is dealing with an aging father who lives in a retirement home and having met at a group for morning the missing her and her husband have missing siblings. On this day right after waking up she gets a call from the NOPD. New Orleans is where her sister went missing and so she dreads answering it and when she does it’s everything she feared they found her sister Ellie’s body. As if that news wasn’t astounding enough the detective center pictures found in her sister‘s jacket and it’s a photo of her husband and another man. Let me just say despite Stephanie cannons very young sounding voice I really like her character distinction and I am amazed that such a sweet voice can do the men so well. As far as the story goes I feel like this book like many others these days is the equivalent to Clickbait. You read the story and go through all the monotonous inner thoughts of Lauren and you wait for the big reveal only to wonder where the hell did that ending come from? I cannot stand in a book when the ending doesn’t match anything prior in the story and I feel that is exactly what happened with this one. Lauren nor her husband Alex are good people and not to have one person to root for as my first step and knowing I may not like the book. So irregardless of great narration I found the book especially Lawrence inner thoughts and her high emotional reaction to be too over-the-top repetitive and ridiculous I mean when leaving after visiting her dad she almost collapsed due to thinking about her sister being missing and then she goes and gets in her car and is distracted while driving because she is just overwhelmed with emotions. I think I am going to steer clear of Georgina Cross‘s books nothing infuriates me more than feeling like I have been tricked into reading a book but I felt at the end of this book that’s exactly what happened instead of getting a good thriller I got a sophomoric attempt at one. I get suspending belief and all that but you would have to live in La La Land to think this book is a good one.. I still gave it two stars due to the great narration in the So-so story but do listen at your own risk. I want to thank BookOuchur audio for my free arc copy via NetGalley. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

hank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
This book was a great suspense (not necessarily thriller) story embedded with small twists that keep you on your guessing how the story will play out. This story is embedded with deceit, guilt, secrets, sadness and unfortunate situations.
The flow of the plot and speed of the story was flawlessly executed. You knew there were going to be twists but I definitely didn’t expect the double twist!
As an aside, the narration was fantastic!

Such an addictive domestic mystery!! This one really kept me on the edge of my seat, and I read it all in one sitting. I really liked where the story took me, and the ending was super satisfying (thought I don’t think it will be for everyone). Super twisty and genuinely shocking, I’d highly recommend this one. My only complaint is that I felt like some of the scenes in New Orleans dragged a bit, and the characters were insufferable at times 😭 but worth it for the plot
This book releases on the 16th May!
(Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of this audiobook in exchange for an honest review)

The mystery kept me guessing throughout. I kept on questioning everything.
I was always finding Alex to be very suspicious, everything he would do just made me think something about him.
But…. Everything took a whole unexpected twist that I was not expecting! Can I just say that I really enjoyed the ending!!
Listened to the audio version and I recommend. Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this advance audiobook in return for my honest review.

I DNF My Perfect Husband by Georgina Cross at 45%. It has a good premise: missing sister, missing BIL, lying husband. I like that Lauren confronts Alex almost immediately instead of at the end of the book as some authors do. However, she is also very melodramatic and regularly assumes instead of looking at facts. This characteristic minimizes what could be a good mystery. I am very bored and annoyed by it all and cannot justify spending more time on this.
Stephanie Cannon is not someone I enjoyed listening to.
Thank you to Bookouture Audio for providing me with an ALC.

The story begins immediately when Lauren is told her missing sister has been found dead
I enjoyed the fast pace and Lauren’s recollections which span from her childhood, time with her sister, when her sister went missing, and later when she met Alex
The writing flows and had an interesting style. Lauren has a lot of thoughts - a lot - some are recollections but the majority are “what ifs” and “whys”. She also presumes to know things and imagines how they played out…. “the public will say….. ” “my sister would have smiled…”
This technique didn’t require any characters, because Lauren presumed all the questions and answers (regardless of truth)….
The action speeds up in the second half of the book when we start getting facts and meeting more people and it slowly comes together
I really liked the reveal (best thing about the book) but didn’t like the cliffhanger ending, never a fan of those
The audiobook was well narrated and this was a very easy read, which I’d recommend as a light, domestic thriller

This audiobook consumed me and I devoured it. So many secrets! The twists and turns just kept coming and kept me guessing. Loved the New Orleans setting and could clearly picture all the spots in the French Quarter. The narrator was perfect for Lauren. This was my third book by Georgina Cross and they have all been incredible page turners.

Just finished this one, and still not sure how I feel about it.
The premise was great!
Lauren’s sister went missing many years ago. She’s never given up hope. In fact, her husband has been by her side every step of the way…putting up posters…giving support. Just an all-around good guy.
But, he said he would’ve loved to have met her!
Alex’s brother is also missing. So, they have a lot in common!
But…there are so many twists and turns in this one that my head is still spinning…
When the day finally comes that her sister Ellie is found, Lauren has even more questions! Like why the guy in the photo in her pocket looks so familiar…
Liked the storyline, but for some reason, I just did not like all the twists…there were a lot. I feel like the story just started to unravel after one too many of them…
And, I feel like the ending was lacking…at least for me.
That being said, this was still a good read!
3 ⭐️⭐️⭐️ for me!

A fast-paced and addictive listen! This book brings the suspense and twists from the very beginning and comes at you with a heck of a twist ending. Lauren's sister has been missing for years, and she bonded with her husband because his brother was also missing. But years later she learns the disappearances could be connected.... and her husband may even have been involved.
The book requires a little suspension of disbelief, but you won't mind because the twists and suspense are so good. Georgina Cross is a great writer who knows pacing, good characterizations and shocking twists. Count me in for her next book for sure! The narrator of the audiobook also did a great job with the characters and building suspense.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story. I really enjoyed it, I had no idea which way it was going and really didn't see the ending coming.
It was written so that I thought it was impossible to see what was coming.
I liked the characters and overall think it's worth a read.
I liked the narrator. She kept me interested.

I want to thank the author, NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an audiobook version of this publication in exchange for an honest, unbiased review. I have so much gratitude for this copy that has been shared with me, and I thank you kindly for this opportunity.

Quick listen with super juicy secrets! I thought this book was really good but I did not care for the somewhat of a cliffhanger ending.

I love a good suspense thriller and haven’t read anything from Georgina Cross before. The premise of this one — “My sister is dead, did I marry her killer?” intrigued me, and it did not disappoint.
Lauren’s sister Ellie has been missing from New Orleans for over a decade. She met her husband, Alex, in a grief support group at Northwestern, where she lives near Chicago, and he’s missing his brother, Clive. These two seem made for each other. Who could understand her better? Alex is incredibly thoughtful, supporting her search for her sister and always making sure to bring her the same meaningful flowers on the anniversary of when Ellie went missing. He goes and visits her father, who lives in an assisted-living facility, regularly on his own. But is Alex everything he seems?
When Lauren finally gets the news she has dreaded from the NOLA police department, there were photos found on her sister‘s body. And in the photos with Ellie are Alex‘s brother, and Alex himself — who claims to have never met Ellie. Why would he have lied? And is he the only liar here?
This is suspenseful and surprising; very twisty. There are flashes back to the sisters’ childhood that figure into the story. And the New Orleans scenes are evocative and will take you right back if you’ve ever been there, full of beignets and chicory coffee and Garden District mansions.
I sometimes got a bit confused following the logic in the twistiest of the twists so that’s where this goes from five to four stars for me — but that might be a me problem! A solid thriller and I recommend it. This one comes out on May 16. Thanks #Bookouture, #NetGalley and #GeorginaCross for the advance listen!

This book started strong. Lauren's sister, Ellie, has been missing for a long time, but she's never given up on trying to find her. At the start of the story the police get in touch, announcing they've found her sister's remains at a run down house in New Orleans where she lived. But that's not all: inside Ellie's pockets there were pictures of her and Alex, Lauren's husband who, as far as knew, had never even met her sister.
So we follow along with Lauren who is now suspecting her husband and potentially 'missing' brother are involved in her disappearance and ultimately her murder. It keeps the reader guessing but does drag in the middle. It could have been shorter and a little faster paced.
The twist has a nice set-up although I did guess what might have happened as soon as the treehouse memory was mentioned but I thought it was great and ended nicely.
Fantastic narration too.
Thanks to the publisher and the author, I would definitely read more by Georgina Cross again.

The Perfect Husband by Georgina Cross is a mystery about the disappearance of Lauren’s sister Ellie 12 years ago in New Orleans. Lauren and her husband Alex live in Evanston, and one day the phone rings. It’s the NOLA police department with news of her sister and this news also brings to light some untruths on Alex’s part. Lauren sets off for New Orleans to get some answers.
The issues I had with this audio book were many. First of all, I don’t feel the title fit the book at all. Readers never hear all the perfect details about it Alex, except he likes to get his wife flowers. You are not set up loving Alex in any kind of way. Second of all, it was very slow moving. Not a page turner. I don’t feel like we got any hint of interesting information until about 50% of the way through (then nothing again until about 80% through), which is too far for many readers to persist without gratification in my opinion. Lastly, the “twists” were pretty bland. I didn’t really see how the secrets needed to be kept, and the final reveal was just ho hum.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for my ARC.

This book definitely didn’t end as I thought it would, the mystery kept me guessing throughout. This is the kind of book that ends with unanswered questions, bothersome, but also kind of love that I keep thinking about it. I listened to the audio version, which was enjoyable, pleasant and would recommend. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ARC in return for an honest review.

Apparently I've been missing out on Georgina Cross books! My Perfect Husband is a gripping domestic thriller, and I will be back for more.
It took me a while to get into this book in the beginning, but once I did... WHOA! This was fast-paced and thrilling throughout, and kept me guessing until the very end. I LOVED how it ended, because it was NOT what I was expecting at all. I loved the dual timelines here - it worked really well.
Narration was great!

It’s really hard to give an honest review for this book without spoilers. It started off as a typical domestic suspense that had potential to make a good story. The story is told through Lauren‘s point of view. Her sister went missing 12 years ago and she’s never given up hope finding her. She wakes up to news that her sister’s body has been found and she is requested to come to New Orleans. Lauren’s husband, Alex, has been the perfect husband up until this point. They met and bonded over both having missing siblings. But the detective shares information that destroys Lauren trust in her husband. The story continues with Lauren and Alex going to New Orleans. Throughout the book the reader watches as Lauren is tormented with the unknown as she chases down clues and answers.
I found the writing very repetitive and simple which I can usually set aside, especially when it’s in the first person perspective of a character, but this felt boring and unnecessary at time. For the most part it was an average read for me, but the ending and “twists” really ruined it for me. Getting to the end left me frustrated and annoyed. The revelation made me feel tricked. I am a firm believer that if the information comes out of absolutely nowhere and almost a whole new storyline then it’s not a twist. I’d rather read a well written book where I have the eventual twist figured out, than read a book that goes out of its way to ensure there’s no way to guess the twist. There’s absolutely no way, even if I try really hard to suspend belief, that the story would take place. And I’m not even focused on the ending or the twist. I mean, just in general, the fact that Lauren and Alex: 1. ever met 2. they would ever ever ever get married 3. that either/both of them would be able to go about as normal for 12 years knowing what we know by the end. Just no. None of this made sense.

Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this audio ARC opportunity. This review will be shared on NetGalley, Goodreads, and Amazon.

Fast paced, fun and entertaining. It immediately hooked and it kept me guessing all the way to the end.
Lauren's sister, Ellie, has been missing for 12 years, but she never gave up on trying to find her. That's until the police reaches out, letting her know they've found her sister's remains. But that's not all: inside Ellie's pockets there were pictures of her and Alex, Lauren's husband who, as far as knew, had never even met her sister.
The plot for this book was so interesting, and I had so much fun following along as everything unraveled; I listened to the whole thing in one sitting, trying to figure it all out. While I had a sense of where the story was going, it still managed to surprise me. I was excited to see how the story would wrap up, and I really enjoyed the ending.
It had a nice pacing, things were revealed just at the right moment to keep you on your toes and prompt you to keep going, and it keeps you second guessing every theory just enough. Maybe it was a bit dragged out at certain points and it could have been a bit shorter, but I did not mind it all that much. The narration played a huge role in that, it truly was just excellent.
Many thanks to Bookouture Audio & Netgalley for providing me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review!

This was a very interesting thriller and I did not see that twist coming at the end. This was a very enjoyable read and had me guessing throughout.
