I would love to have all the hours of my life back that I spent listening to the audio of this book. I know that sounds harsh & I really don't mean to be-- but I have no idea how else to describe it.

The story was incredibly predictable & the characters didn't even act like human beings. The conversations were bonkers & literally would not happen in real life.

The more I listening the more frustrated I got with how incredibly silly everything was & let's just say this was the most ridiculous group of friends I've ever encountered.

I saw a review that said this book had everything but the kitchen sink & that could not be more accurate.

I'd love to say more but I won't. I hate to give this one star but it is needed. The end.
Thank you so much NetGalley for this opportunity to listen to this book.

This book caught my attention along with the cover, but after reading it, it was not for me. There were a lot of parts that just seemed silly, and that made me lose interest.

Thrillers set in a snowy cabin in the woods are always a winner. This book had my pulse racing and me questioning everything as Alex tried to solve a mystery and find her friends, while discovering if the wrong person has been in prison for murder. If you enjoy a quick thriller or have an interest in true crime, then this book is for you!

I have to be honest; I was a little taken aback by the average for The Bachelorette Party by Sandra Block on Goodreads but as soon as I got to the first big twist, I fully understood the reason for this. This is OUT THERE folks, but I loved every dang minute of it. The tension that Block managed to create in these pages was bloody fantastic and just the is he or isn’t he guilty on top of what happens at the party? Chef’s kiss. 👨🏼‍🍳💋 I really can’t say I liked any of the characters all that much, but I will say I was surprised by one of them. I was not a fan at all for the longest time, and somehow things managed to turn out.

The audiobook for this one was a little meh for me, but I did enjoy Lexi Mae’s narration for the most part. She cannot do an Australian accent to save her life though, and I wish she would have just used her normal voice for Alex’s fiancé Jay. I also found myself wishing they had taken advantage of the podcast piece of the book and did some special sound effects, but it was a missed opportunity. I loved the back and forth between the present-day bachelorette party and the previous months with Alex’s investigation into the 666 Killer and whether the man convicted is actually him. It made for a very pacey read that flew by and kept me turning the pages. The end was mind blowing, and I never saw it coming.

Read this if you are looking for a popcorn thriller with plenty of blood, thrills, and side of serial killer.

I'm always so excited about the premise of books such as this one where there's a murder mystery during some big occasion like a wedding or bachelorette party off into the wilderness. The setting is always painted in a way that gets me intrigued to read the book. However, this book was just not for me. It was hard to get through because I didn't enjoy the writing style. In addition to that, I could not connect with any of the characters and the plot just didn't make any logical sense (usually it does with murder mysteries). Just not my cup of tea unfortunately.

Sometimes it’s fun reading a silly nonsensical thriller but lately I find they’re just too frequent and hard to tell apart. That’s how this felt.

This book follows Alex, a true crime enthusiast, as she embarks on her bachelorette party, only to find herself at the site of a murder she’s been investigating for her True-Crime job. From there, things spiral out of control in a way that keeps the reader engaged. While I found the story intriguing and the premise unique, it was sometimes difficult to follow, which stalled my full enjoyment. Despite that, I still found myself invested in Alex’s journey and curious about how everything would unfold. The suspense and twists were engaging, but the plot wasn’t as smooth or cohesive as I’d hoped. Overall, its an entertaining read for fans of true crime thrillers, but it could have been clearer and more tightly paced. It’s a solid read, though not without its flaws.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

I was super pumped to read this after loving a prior book by the author. I really struggled with this one early on unfortunately. I found it cringey and tried to remain patient with where the writing and plot would take us. The plot set up then started forming in a way that felt too predictable and I felt like it was a story I had read before. Unfortunately I ended up DNFing around 30% for this reason because it was overly predictable and I really struggled with the character cliches.

This was a wild ride. I honestly am not sure I knew what was happening at any point in this book. I did enjoy. I don’t like trying to guess “who did it” in any book. I just kind of like to be along for the ride and be surprised in the end. Nevertheless I enjoy the way the author wrote this. Everyone was a suspect.

Alex is having the time of her life. She has her dream job as an intern for a true crime new program. She is going to be marrying the man of her dreams. She has great friends who are taking her on a surprise bachelorette weekend. The weekend happens to be at the place where the famous 666 killer committed his crime.

When Alex wakes up in the middle of the night in the bathtub with her friends gone and blood everywhere she panics. She doesn’t remember anything. There’s a blizzard outside and the car isn’t working. Where are her friends? Did she hurt them? She can’t remember. Is it someone come back to recreate the 666 killer? Or is it the real 666 killer and they put the wrong guy behind bars?

You’ll have to read to find out.

Unfortunately, this book was not for me. I found it to be way too outlandish and unrealistic. I also feel like the writing was just not good.

I hope others love this one.

What?!!! Sandra had me guessing the whole time!! The back and forth kept me feverishly invested and I appreciated the shorter chapters because I was IMPATIENT trying to get back to the “now” chapters.

If you love a whodunnit thriller then you’ll love this one!!

Thanks Sandra for another brilliant book!

It took me so long to finish this book. Alex’s friends decide to take her to a cabin where a murder took place. So spooky! Not a place I would want to go for a bachelorette trip. It wasn’t a terrible read but I just can’t see myself ever reading it again. The plot was all over the place. There was definitely something missing. Thank you NetGalley, Sandra and Penzler Publishers for the ARC!

The Bachelorette Party by Sandra Block followed the main character, Alex, on her Bachelorette Party. As a true crime lover, Alex's friends took her to an unknown location that turned out to be the site of the murder she was investigating for her true crime job. Everything went wrong from there.

While I was engaged in the storyline, it was a little hard to follow but I overall enjoyed it. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the eARC of this book.

I had high hopes going into this book based on the blurb. Once I actually started reading it, I had some issues with the plot and the writing. I felt like it was just all right overall. I wasn't hooked and kept interested throughout.

The main character, Alex, is obsessed with a serial killer. So much so, that her bachelorette party is themed with the killer. I just got the ick from this book. I get liking true crime, but Alex just took it to a whole new level, and it was weird.

Knowing the bride’s preferences is key to throwing a memorable bachelorette party. A trip to Nashville or Las Vegas is perfect for an extrovert who loves to drink and dance. The quieter types might prefer a spa weekend filled with massages and makeovers. The adventurous types? Camping and rock climbing. But what of the true crime lovers?

In Sandra Block’s latest thriller, The Bachelorette Party, bride-to-be Alex is obsessed with the 666 serial killer. As an intern for a crime show, she’s actually interviewed the man imprisoned for the crime several times. He proclaims his innocence; if Alex can prove it, she’s guaranteed a job on the show. Alex is also engaged to a wealthy single dad, and her best friends from college want to throw her the perfect bachelorette party. They’ve rented out the mountain lodge where the 666 killer murdered his first victim. What could be more fun?

Then Alex wakes up after midnight to find the house covered in blood and her friends missing. In the middle of a blizzard, in this isolated lodge, Alex wonders if the real 666 killer has returned to finish what he started. Or could the killer be even closer than she thinks?

While I loved Block’s terrific premise, I found the execution a bit lacking. Other than Alex, the characters are somewhat one-dimensional, and Alex herself has issues that feel very convenient and cause her to doubt herself. Block moves back and forth between the action of the bachelorette party and the backstory of Alex’s interviews and internet discussions about the killer. This structure helps at creating tension, but occasionally gets confusing.

Still, I hung in there hoping for a big payoff, and I got one. Block nails the ending completely, adding twists on top of twists and paying off subtle setups. She ties up loose ends and closes on the right note. It makes up for the muddy middle.

For readers who love serial killer books, The Bachelorette Party is a good fit for their library. It would also make a fun gift idea for women attending a hen-do. For brides-to-be—even the ones who love true crime—I hope the idea remains in a book, and doesn’t become the start of a trend.

This was good! I really thought I knew what was going to happen and man was I wrong. This was a wild ride that was totally unexpected and fast paced. I really enjoyed it and flew through it.

I love true crime. Would I be able to use all that knowledge to solve a case? Probably not. Hopefully Alex is a better detective than I am. Such a fun ride with lots of twists.

I'll never turn away from a Bachelorette or wedding related thriller as a newly married woman.

Pacing was great with no lags and kept me going from start to finish. The vibe feels slightly Hitchcock-eqsue and that is why I loved it. Everyone is unreliable and it leads you to second guess yourself.
