I'm sure I'm not the first to say, I had no idea there was a prisoner of war camp in New Hampshire during World II. Although I found the entire book sad, I understand happiness during the war was probably hard to find, but hurray for love. Even in this setting people can fall in love.

This novel was an enjoyable read. Francis brings attention to POW camps in Stark, New Hampshire in 1944--a part of US history of which I was unaware-- and weaves in a very touching love story. This novel was well-written with authentic characters and solid pacing. Personally I felt the chemistry between Collie and August could have come across on the page a little stronger, but again, it was overall a powerful and interesting read.
