I couldn’t stop listening to this book!! The narrators were fabulous and the story is just too cute. Also, there are a lot of millennial pop culture references for people of a certain age to enjoy. If you love forced proximity, marriage-for-convenience stories, you will eat this book up!
I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher.

Cecily is ready to chase her dreams and joins an MFA program, but after getting in a compromising position with a professor, the only way her and professor Nate Ellis can think to solve it is with a fake marriage, only as their stories grow, their feelings do too. Overall, this book didn’t work for me. The bookish setting was fun, and I liked the banter and relationship between Cecily and Nate, and honestly it might have been the narrator for the audiobook that didn’t work but Cecily was not likeable in my opinion. She’s judgy and her inner monologues kind of drove me crazy. She just was really frustrating as a main character and didn’t feel realistic. Nate was a little better and I liked having his POV added, but the romance took a long time to set up, the fake marriage aspect doesn’t come in to play for like 40-50% of the book, and I found myself waiting for it, and when it came, it felt kind of unnecessary. I really liked the premise for this but I just couldn’t seem to get into it.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.
I found the story a bit hard to get into, but started to enjoy it more after a while. I struggled with the pace because the chapters were so long. As for the storyline I found it fun to follow an aspiring author as she plots out her novel based on her own relationship history. The familiar bonds were interesting as both main characters doesn't have the best family relationships.
I love a good fake-dating story, but I found the reason for the fake-marriage a bit nonsensical. I did find the pair cute when they actually got together and liked seeing their romance develope. The third-act was a bit unnecesary, especially with the quick solution. All in all I'd say it's an ok romance worth a try.

Thank you Netgalley and dreamscape media for the alc. My opinions are being left voluntarily. This was cute but didn't like yhe miscommunication 3rd act break up and found it difficult to follow a story in a story lots to keep track of the characters were well formed and story felt fresh!
My only complaint is in 2024 there is no added value in referencing HP in books zero if anything knocks it down foemr me personally.

3.5 Stars A Storybook Romance by KJ Micciche is a fun, fast-paced marriage of convenience romance with dual POV.
When MFA student and children's librarian Cecily Jane Allerton gets caught on a viral video of karaoke and a kiss with author and professor Nate Ellis, the two decide to get married to save their careers. Near in age and already sharing an attraction, a marriage of convenience to save their careers is only a little white lie that won't hurt anyone, right? Now Cecily and Nate are back at the program on Block Island, pretending to be a married couple while feeling their very real attraction to one another. Cecily is working diligently to query her debut novel and win a literary award, while Nate is finally past his writer's block and churning out his follow-up novel. Can they get through the program without their ruse coming to light and their hard work going up in flames?
This was a fun read and I appreciated reading from both Cecily's and Nate's POV. The fast pace was perfect to pack in the action and handle time jumps between the times when Cecily and Nate were together. Cecily and Nate were such easy characters to cheer for and the chemistry between them felt natural. Though the plot is fairly predictable, A Storybook Wedding is fun, enjoyable, and full of witty banter and lovable characters. A great summertime read!

Quick Summary: A super cute, super funny rom-com with heart and soul
My Review: A Storybook Wedding by K.J. Micciche was delightful. This novel was highly entertaining. It dealt with real life issues in a very lighthearted way. The leads were likable and easy to relate to.
About the Book: An aspiring writer on a journey to heal herself decides to chase after her dreams. Part of her adventure involves participation in an MFA program. While attending a writing retreat, she meets an unassuming published author who just so happens to be one of her workshop instructors. The two strike up a meaningful friendship. When an innocent act lands the two in hot water, a quick-witted plan leads them down a road that will have their hearts spinning.
My Final Say: This novel easily made its way onto my favorites shelf. It was refreshingly different. I adored Pen and CJ so much. The quirky, optimistic way CJ approached her new life made me smile. Pen was a just right match for her. His character allowed us to see both strength and vulnerability which endeared me to him. Their playfulness and support for one another was nice to see. I loved how they came to care about each other. There was a natural flow that came about quite organically.
Other: Readers who enjoy contemporary stories that involve learning how to overcome personal obstacles and familial expectations will appreciate this book.

3.5 stars!
"A Storybook Romance" by KJ Micciche is a fun book with witty dialogue and an interesting dynamic between main characters. People will devour this book on vacation. It might not be the most revolutionary novel I have ever read, but it's still a cute, quick read/listen that won't take a lot of brain power to enjoy. I will admit, the marriage of convenience angle is not always my favorite, and while the premise for CJ and Nate's marriage is flimsy at best, I found that it strangely worked for me over time?! I enjoyed hearing about how their relationship changes over time, as well as how they change each other. They have excellent chemistry with one another. It might be because Kelli Tager and Nick Mondelli bring these characters to life in a wonderful, fitting way. Some of the plot points introduced seem to go nowhere or get dropped by the wayside in favor of the romantic aspect. Nate is not the best developed character ever. In fact, I forgot his name several times during the book. He could have had a little more oomph to his narrative and character. Everything in the plot plays out in a predictable manner, so there were no surprises here, but the banter and commentary on career ambition and personal growth (relationship and work-wise) makes it worthwhile. Again, this book is not reinventing the wheel, but it's definitely worth it for those looking for a light, summertime read.
Thank you to NetGalley, KJ Micciche, and Dreamscape Media for the complimentary ALC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.

I loved this book! It had great dialogue and the behind-the-scenes writing information was fun to read about. I've always wanted to do a writer's retreat and although this one was part of a program, I can't imagine they differ much! It kept me reading and was hard to put down. A great weekend read and the narration was wonderful!

I really, really enjoyed this marriage of convenience, dual POV romance that sees a Children's Librarian turned aspiring writer forced to help save her writing professor's reputation by marrying him after a drunken kiss between them gets caught on video. Full of forced proximity, fake dating-ish goodness and lots of insights into the writing and publishing world. This was great on audio and is a new favorite for me by this author! Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early digital and audio copy in exchange for my honest review!!

Romance and bookish characters are my favorite things, so naturally I enjoyed this book! The main characters are both so likable, I love that I never had a moment where I was mad with them, both Nate and CJ are such kind natured characters. I listened to the audio version, which I highly recommend. The audio was multicast, enjoyable, and exhibited lots of expression, Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for this ARC.

I adores KJ’s first book, The Book Proposal, and was so excited for A Storbook Wedding. Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape! I really loved Pen and CJ’s story.
