My first grade students like this book because it was cute and funny. They wished it was longer and were sad when it was over. They enjoyed the parts where different magical beings changed the dog into other creatures. It was funny. They liked the illustrations; they thought they were very well done. The story was funny, especially the part where the dog was chasing a bunny bigger than him. They enjoyed the topic. They didn't like that it didn't have even more flaps or parts where the book acted like a dog. They also thought it would have been nice for the dog book to turn back into a dog at the end.

So fun and enchanting! Similar to Cotter William's "Don't Push the Button!" series, this book -- or dog -- is interactive and incredibly silly, pushing the boundaries of the "normal" reading experience. This is perfect for young readers who have yet to be convinced that reading is interesting. I read a digital version, but I believe the physical copy comes with a leash, in which case I will most definitely be purchasing it for my nephews (and myself).

This is a creative, fun, and silly picture book by Art Spiegelman, about a book that was once a dog!

An interesting take on a kids book. I appreciate it being spirited and different but isn't a book I'm drawn too.

An adorable picture book showing a dog that has been taken over a book. Is that possible? Is it a book? Is it a dog? Can you read it? Pet it? What a fun read.

Open Me...I'm a Dog is an adorable picture book told from the perspective of a dog who has been bewitched to be a book. The story was delightful and weird, and the illustrations from Art Spiegelman were fantastic. I would definitely recommend this one to kiddos who want a little more magic in their lives!

Thanks to NetGalley, Art Spiegelman, and TOON Books for the chance to review this advance copy!

"Open Me … I’m a Dog" is more than a dog and more than a book. After all, how many picture books have furry pages or a tail? And how many dogs have such wonderful prose and pictures in their middle?

The adventures of this poor pup, who moves from one mishap to another, will delight youngsters and their grownups. But what else would you expect from a picture book by Art Spiegelman — yes, THAT Art Spiegelman, the legendary author of "Maus," for which he won a Pulitzer Prize?

In the interest of full disclosure, I received this book from NetGalley and TOON Books in exchange for an honest review.
