Well now I can’t stop thinking about what I would do if Rhysand was real 😏
I loved this book, but I do think that the relationships between Octavia/Joni and Callum/Tess could’ve been fleshed out a little more. How are they all so in love with each other after a few days?? Although I do imagine Rhysand would fall in love with me instantaneously (obvi).
Otherwise, I REALLY enjoyed this book and am v much in my vampire era 🧛🏼♂️
Thanks NetGalley for sending the arc in exchange for honest review 🫶🏻

A unique blend of multiple-points of view and side-characters that seemed well fleshed out. I want other books from this author branching off on these other characters. I had a fun time reading this book. 4.5/5

Please read the trigger warnings and the author's note before picking this book up.
Tess is a grad school drop-out, a night manager at a new york hotel, and a avid fan of the book series "Blood Feud". While she expects other fans to read her essay on buzzfeed about how the characters in the novels might real, she doesn't expect them to pay her a visit at her job. "Fang Fiction" is a fantasy, a romance but also funny and charming. Most importantly it's a good time and I devoured it in a couple of days.
My biggest complaint with most romance books is the lack of innerworld, like the universe starts when the characters meet and ends when they get together. I could see so many more stories that can take place inside of Fang Fiction, the side characters have their charms, there's more to explore outside of the bar beyond. Even if not a full length novel, I would definetly pick up a novella, a short story, or even a few pages to learn more about anything Stayman-London has to write.
I would say that it might get overwhemling the amount of information we get each chapter (in addition to the plot theres excepts from the Blood feud books, podcast snippets, emails and texts), but I was engaged. I feel like whenever there's a mystery that I always get dead ends or straight up denial instead of anwsers. "Fang Fiction" however has so much worldbuilding along with twists and turns that I don't get frustrated when we don't get closer to the truth. I was just as content to watch them go about their days as watch the story develop.
Octavia Yoon is my favorite character here. She's so quick and selfish and a little bit mean. Out of all the vampires she has the sharpest bite and I liked seeing her relationship with Jonie. Even though we don't see them get together in a formal sense it's cute to watch Octavia soften to Jonie. I felt like Callum and Tess were a bit rushed but I really enjoyed their scenes together. They were comforting and sweet.
Thank you to Random House Publishing for the eARC via Netgalley!

Kate Stayman-London's debut was phenomenal, and this novel, which deals with multiple fictional threads, a bunch of narrators, and a whole mess of vampires is even more technically proficient. Her discussion of the aftermath of sexual assault is also nuanced and thoughtful.

This book was such a wild ride! Fang Fiction follows Tess Rosenbloom, a grad school drop out now working as a night manager at a swanky New York hotel, and the number one fan girl of the Blood Feud book series. In a strange twist of events (that I won’t quite give away), Tess learns that characters in Blood Feud (aka the vampires) are actually real. On a quest to help one of them, Octavia, Tess sets out to enter the mysterious island housing all the vampires in the world to get a message to Octavia’s twin brother, Callum. What ensues is an adventure featuring warring vampire clans, a rescue mission headed by Tess’s former best friend Joni, and characters from the book who, in real life, aren’t quite what Tess imagined.
I wasn’t sure what to expect going in to this book. It’s not quite romantasy, but not fully contemporary romance. It’s like a mix of both with the most quirky cast of characters. In all honesty, I think the characters were my very favorite part of the book, especially Sylvie and Joni.
Fang Fiction had a very unique story line. It took me a little bit to get really into it and, at times, I felt lost between both worlds. Overall, it was a fun read! This is definitely the book for the vampire lovers and those wanting to dip their toes into romantasy.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Dial Press for the ARC!

This was so fun. I really enjoy this author's book One to Watch, which I found through book of the month. I love this title and cover too. The story was fun. Nothing that will stick with me forever, but a definite fun fall read. I recommend to pick up during the halloween season.

Fang Fiction has a very readable, breezy style, and the interspersed book excerpts and social media clips help the whole thing move right along. I haven't read the author's first book, but I can see her love of fashion coming through in this one. I can see this book being a lot of fun for the right reader who wants a vampire romp, a sort of "What We Do in the Shadows" but make it rom-com.

2.5⭐️ I remember really enjoying One to Watch. This one was not for me. The overall concept was intriguing, and the resolution of conflict between the vampires was good. However, the characters (Joni and Tess) read immature at times. A little too instalove. I personally didn’t enjoy the addition of posts from buzzfeed, Snapchat, and other things like that. I understand what the intent was since in the real world the characters think it’s all just books. But it felt choppy and for me, didn’t feel necessary to the story.
Have you ever read a book and wished those characters were real? Tess and Joni found that their favorite vampire characters from the books, Blood Feud, are real. Tess is transported into the other realm where she must find Callum. While Joni helps Octavia back in the real world. Callum and Octavia are weak away from each other and something else isn’t right. The vampire that made them, Konstantin, is dead; but Felix might be hiding a secret. Tess and Joni help them and also find strength in their friendship and battle past demons. Please read the authors note for the trigger warnings if you consider reading.
Thank you to @netgalley and @thedialpress for the advanced reader copy. #netgalley #fangfiction

This book was cute! I’ve been missing vampire stories, and this one hit the spot. Tess is obsessed with the Blood Feud series, and surprise—the vampires are real! Trapped on an island with them, she embarks on an epic journey filled with fan fiction vibes, romance, and incredible world-building. The multimedia format, texts, podcast transcripts, and chapters from Blood Feud—is so much fun.
heads up! this book tackles some heavy subjects like SA, which added surprising depth. Kate created a relatable world of vampires with chemistry, banter, and twists. I mean, who wouldn’t agree if Edward Cullen asked for help saving his family?
Kate Stayman-London nailed it, and I can’t wait for book two. Vampire girlies, this one’s for you!
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for my copy of Fang Fiction by Kate Stayman-London

Tess loves to get lost in the world of Blood Fued. She’s read it a million times. Trying to escape her real life by reading about her favorite vampires. It helps her manage the trauma she’s experienced by masking her pain. Tess was living with her bestie Joni while going to Columbia working oh her PhD. Something horrible happened (check the TW) and she dropped out of school and moved away. Not telling Joni what happened and hiding away working nights at a hotel. Three years pass…
She always fantasized about meeting her true love like in the romances she reads. She finds out the characters from her beloved stories are real when she’s whisked away to The Isle to help them. Plus she might get her own romance as well…with a handsome bad boy vampire Callum.
This was a fun read especially if you love Twilight or TVD and all of sudden you find out they are real! It’s a little confusing at first there’s a lot of POVs. Tess is dealing with trauma, panic attacks, and PTSD. It’s happy, but not. She really finds strength by the end with a lot of growth and her experience with the vampures help with that. Joni also has her own love story and everything comes full circle in the end.

Wow! Wow! I had no idea what to expect from Fang Fiction! I kept seeing things about it and when I was accepted for the ARC I was so excited, but wanted to wait a little closer to Spooky Szn before I started it. And omg I'm so glad I did because I'm so ready for Halloween now!!!
First of all, A LOT is going on in this book. We're following Tess a former PhD student at Columbia, her BFF Joni, and a couple of Vampire twins, Octavia and Callum, on a journey through realms. There are several different POVs and excerpts to keep up with which made the beginning a little confusing but ultimately helped to tie the story together.
There wasn't a ton of world-building since the Isle is similar layout to Manhattan but with magical elements like a moonflower meadow and milky jade pools. I just kept picturing everything at dusk, just the beginning of nightfall, but iridescent.
I loved the element of the mystery around who August Lirio is. Throughout the book I had many different theories and when the author is actually revealed it's like "duh, why didn't I think of that!"
One thing I didn't expect to get from the book was a true happy ending, but it was there and I loved it! But also left me with lots of questions about the Future of the Yoo twins + Tess & Joni.
Overall, I really really enjoyed this story and was so stunned by how much I loved it! I wish Blood Feud was a real series I could read because I definitely want more from the world! If this gets made into a show or movie I will be so happy!!

This is essentially fanfiction that doesn’t pretend like it’s not fanfiction. I can’t say that it’s good, but I also can’t say that I wasn’t entertained!

a very fun read! I really enjoy the “book becomes real” plot line, and this executes it well!
it’s got warring vampire clans, vengeful witches, estranged bffs, hostile reluctant allies to lovers, casual queer and trans rep, and more!
I found both of our MCs to have compelling POVs, and their conflict + its resolution were both reasonable. the romance was cute and built well, and the main mystery was a good plot device! all in all, a good way to spend part of a plane ride!

I think there is an audience for this book, and it's writing style, but I was unable to connect with the book. I love vampires, fantasy, and escapism so I was so excited to imagine reading a book where a person was dropped into their favorite book series. While there were some lol moments, I found the fact that the character's desire to flee/escape was due to SA clashed with the tone and campy-ness of the rest of the book. Overall, it felt like the book was too ambitious or disjointed and it did not accomplish what I wanted based on the blurb/cover. I adore this author and hate that this one fell flat for me.

Thank you to Netgalley and Random House Publishing for an eARC of this novel!
I enjoyed this story so much! I am a girlie who fell victim to loving books that revolve around fandom from a very young age. Staring with Fangirl, to Geekerella, to Eliza and Her Monsters, and on and on. This book especially was fun though, since it added the element of the fiction literally coming to life.
Besides, who doesn't love all this vampire drama?
This was exactly what I expected and hoped for. It was a perfect read after a long week of university. The drama was there. The plot was amazing. The characters were fantastic especially! I was shocked at how well they were fleshed out considering what the premise is—especially the main character's background. I thought that was very well done and executed in a respectful and realistic way.
This will likely be a book that I will end up buying, which is rare for me to do after reading a Netgalley book. I'm eager to read Kate Stayman-London's other book!

This is the first I have read from this author, and it was truly a ride. This book read more of a fanfiction, or a Wattpad story. I sometimes believed I logged into Wattpad to read something. I didn't relate to or feel for any characters. The story had its moments, but the rest was dragging. I was expecting more from the story, and found myself disappointed.
That being said, it's not the worst thing a person can read. It had its moments, and sometimes the story was fun. There are a lot of triggers involved in this book, as well, as many reviews have stated.
I want to personally thank NetGalley, as well as the author, publisher, and anyone else involved in providing copies, for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Reviews will also be submitted to Goodreads when possible.

Vampires and books? What can be better? Fang fiction takes both the FMC and the reader into a world where sexy vampires run amuck, nothing is what it seems, and can one both survive and find love? Interesting premise and enjoyable story.

I am loving the refound love of Vampires and the stories this year that are "what if you were dropped into the world of your favorite book?". As someone who knows she would die within five minutes being separated from her SSRIs and safety water bottle, I love imagining myself as the main characters.
Also, I don't know why as I have a strong aversion to blood, but vampires are so sexy. Well, female vampires are.
This book is great, not taking itself too seriously while also exploring the importance of humanity. I laughed a lot while reading it, and cried a bit too.
Thank you Netgalley and Dial Press for providing me with an ARC of this book!

"Fang Fiction" is a really fun and cute novel, but I don't think I'll remember much about its months from now. If you like really quirky novels then this book will be for you. I really liked the author's writing style. The prose sounded intelligent and well-thought out. The main problem I had with this book was the tone. The tone is all over the place. I really tried to like the main character, but she was a little obvious and dim-witted for my liking. The romance was predictable, but it lacked heat and intensity for me. Decent book but I was hoping for a juicier read.

This book's strength is also its weakness, which is that it's written like a two-part (or so) television episode more than it's a fully formed romance, fantasy, or adventure novel. It's good natured and tries to give voice to some heavy and important subjects, but I don't necessarily think that the connection between what Tess went through (sexual assault) and her realizing her power (not actual power, just her ability to Fight Again) is well defined. There's nothing *wrong* with this book but I don't think it's particularly memorable, either.
