The Dual Power of Dr. Joseph Murphy’s Subconscious Teachings are shared with us in his books The Power of Your Subconscious Mind & The Healing Power of Your Subconscious Mind

Dr. Joseph Murphy—a spiritual teacher, minister, and pioneer of the New Thought movement—delivers transformative wisdom in two interconnected yet individually powerful works: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind and The Healing Power of Your Subconscious Mind. Each stands tall on its own, yet when experienced together, they offer a holistic blueprint for harnessing the mind’s inner power to create a better, more purposeful life.

Murphy’s central thesis is both revolutionary and deeply simple: the subconscious mind is not only the engine behind your thoughts and behaviors—it’s the seat of your creative power. In The Power of Your Subconscious Mind, Murphy guides readers through the foundational principles of thought manifestation, creative visualization, and mental conditioning. This book changes your thinking—and your life—by showing that no matter what is happening in the outside world, your internal beliefs chart the course of your reality.

The companion work, The Healing Power of Your Subconscious Mind, expands this core idea into the realms of emotional and physical wellness. This edition, which I was fortunate to receive in audio form through NetGalley, blends Murphy’s classic teachings with a sharp focus on using mental suggestion and faith to encourage healing and spiritual alignment. The audiobook adds another layer of accessibility, making Murphy’s teachings feel intimate and immediate—especially powerful for those seeking calm and clarity in today’s noisy world.
Both books are filled with compelling real-world examples—from healed ailments to reversed financial misfortunes—that illustrate the mind’s capacity to transform. Murphy’s prose is clear yet deeply spiritual, offering tools rather than doctrine. He draws from a rich well of traditions—from Christian mysticism to Hinduism—and his mention of the mythic gods hiding man’s divine power “within himself” adds a poetic and philosophical weight. Indeed, that is Murphy’s ultimate message: everything you seek is already within you.

That said, readers should know these books are not quick-fix manuals. They demand reflection, practice, and faith. Some sections may feel repetitive, especially when read back-to-back—but that repetition reinforces the core truths he wants us to internalize.

Why it matters:
These works are more than self-help. They are spiritual maps—reminding us that our consciousness, when aligned with purpose and belief, can become the greatest creative and healing force in our lives. For anyone on a journey toward enlightenment, wholeness, or simply seeking a better relationship with themselves, both editions are essential reading and listening.

I rate both books ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)

"The Healing Power of the Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy combines the text of two of his books into one audiobook. "The Healing Power of Love" and "How to Use Your Healing Power" are the two combined books.

I like the premise of the book, but not the method he teaches. The premise is that you can heal your body with your subconscious mind. His method is by using prayer. Much of this book is very religious as he uses many Bible quotes to support his ideas. I found this uncomfortable.

This book would be best for a religious person. It explains to the reader how to use their faith to create healing.

The narrator for this 10 hr. 21 min. nonfiction self-help book was Sean Pratt.

Here is my rubric for this book:
Mission explained: 5/5
Information overall: 4/5
Back Story/memoir: 3/5
Examples: 4/5
Liked it? 1/5
Pace: 3/5
Narrator: 4/5
Overall: 24/7 = 3 3/7 rounded to 3 stars

Thank you to Netgalley, MacMillan Audio, St. Martin's Essentials and Joseph Murphy for providing this audiobook in exchange for my honest review.

Thoroughly enjoyed this visceral experience of journey through self care. The narrator fit the style and tone for this genre. Will be recommending.

I listened to the audio version of this title narrated by Sean Pratt. I listened at 1.25 speed.
I believe the narrator had good tone and volume.
I was very disappointed in the book. The author took biblical principles, and while giving credit for some of them to the bible, twisted them for a secular audience.

I'm a non-religious person and even though these practices are based very heavily off of the Bible and Jesus's teachings, there were many things I will be able to apply to my own life. Overall a great listen and the narrator was fantastic (though I liked the introductory narrator a little more).

Dr. Joseph Murphy’s The Healing Power of Your Subconscious Mind is a remarkable guide to unlocking the vast potential of our minds for self-healing and personal growth. While Murphy references scripture and uses certain spiritual examples, this book is not rooted in any specific religious doctrine. Instead, it’s a universal approach to understanding the subconscious, making it accessible to readers from all backgrounds.

Murphy explains complex ideas in a way that feels both accessible and empowering, guiding readers on how to harness the subconscious mind for lasting change. This volume, combining The Healing Power of Love and How to Use Your Healing Power, is an inspiring guide that is as relevant today as when it was first published. For anyone interested in personal growth and the untapped potential of the mind, this book is an invaluable resource that can genuinely reshape the way you approach healing and wellness.

The audiobook format is perfect for anyone wanting to integrate these powerful concepts into daily life, with the narrator’s calming tone enhancing the book’s message of inner peace and self-healing. It’s an inspiring and engaging listen that leaves a lasting impact. Highly recommended for anyone looking to unlock their inner healing powers on the go!

The Healing Power of Your Subconscious Mind is pretty eye-opening. It dives deep into how our thoughts can change our lives, which is something I vibe with. Murphy’s ideas about using affirmations and visualizing success are super helpful, though he repeats himself a bit. Still, the overall message about controlling your mindset to heal and improve your life is solid. The narrator keeps you engaged, which is a plus. If you’re into personal growth and manifesting, this one’s worth a listen! Four stars because it could be shorter.
