Thank you to NetGalley for this E-ARC.
Wow wow wow wow wow. I don’t even know where to start with this review. This is a wild ride. I LOVE IT!!! I held my breath the entire time. I was not sure where anything was going. Was I EXTREMELY upset at Blake at about 90% done? Yes!!!! Like unbelievably mad. It’s okay though. I’m better now.
This is labeled as a thriller but I don’t even know if I know what a thriller is anymore. This book is insane. There is not one single second where I was okay. I listened to it as an audiobook and had a little over 3 hours left to listen to today. I decided to take my dog for a walk to try to get through the whole thing. We walked for about 1 1/2 hours. Which left me with 1 1/2 left. Did I sit for 90 minutes on my couch while just staring into space so I could finish this book? Yes!!!!! Was it worth EVERY SINGLE SECOND???? ALSO YES!!!!
I saw some reviews saying they didn’t enjoy this book. But that’s the beauty of reading. Not everybody feels the same way. I LOVED THIS BOOK. Like love love. Not just regular love. Like first crush, high school, saw the cutest boy for the first time. I HIGHLY recommend reading this. It is in my top 10 all time favorite books.
A beautiful viewing of the aurora borealis is going to be visible in most of North America. Some people stay up to see it. The next few days are chaos. As a strange, unexplained rage passes over people. Some people have an unexplained rage and must kill. Nothing is safe! Nobody is safe. Nobody knows what’s turning people into killing machines. Jack is home with his family when he hears his name over the radio. Someone is giving his name and address. Telling people to go find and kill him. They have no time to pack anything.
What follows is the most intense run for safety. Jack needs to keep his wife and kids safe. But how? When you can’t trust anyone. Where would you go?
Read this book if you want to hold your breath for an extended amount of time. Just do it. It’s worth it.

Run had my full attention from the very beginning. While it took a while to understand the “why” as to what was happening to the main characters (and frankly the universe of the story), I was so enthralled, and rooting for everyone while I waited to find out. This was a speedy read (as with everything I’ve read of Crouch’s, and un-putdownable. 10/10

Run is Blake Crouch’s debut novel, originally self-published in 2011. After the author’s tremendous success, the book has been recently republished by Random House (not too shabby). Blake Crouch is one of my favorite sci-fi authors. Even though Run has some possible sci-fi elements, this book definitely aligns more with the horror/thriller genre.
The premise: An aurora borealis sweeps over most of the United States. Those who witnessed the lights now are murdering those who didn’t. Jack, his wife, Dee and their two children are now running for their lives in a very bleak, post-apocalyptic landscape.
Run is a fast-paced book that kept my interest. I wouldn’t say it’s the author’s best written novel, but the book was definitely entertaining (once you are able to get past all the violence). I appreciated the ending of the book, which tied in very nicely to the book’s first chapter. However, I personally would have preferred a bit more sci-fi and a lot less horror. 3.5 stars.

Blake Crouch never fails to deliver a pulse-pounding thriller and Run is no exception. I loved the dystopian angle and it kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time I was reading. Did I have to suspend some disbelief? Sure, but it's totally worth it in the end.
Thanks to Ballantine for the copy to review.

This book stressed me the heck out. It started off with a bang but left me with whiplash. The pacing felt like a rollercoaster ride and I found my self struggling to finish. Overall I didn’t feel good reading this. I loved Dark Matter so I was really excited for this one. Not my cup of tea

This was a really interesting and fast paced read. I don’t feel like it had a whole lot of depth, but the action was entertaining and kept me flipping pages late into the night. Thank you netgalley for me free review copy.

This was not my favorite book by the author, but it was still an entertaining read. It seemed like he has been able to refine his writing with his more recent releases. Thank you for allowing me to review this book!

Like others have said, this book goes at 100 mph and never lets up! It was definitely named appropriately. I love Blake Crouch’s novels and find his action scenes to be well written and gripping. This book was tense, fast, and high stakes.
I loved the general premise and that this book started off already in the thick of the action. I think a long prodrome before the rage pandemic would have hindered the story. I do think the main characters we were following fell a bit flat and I never found myself all too invested in them. This brought down the emotional impact and thus my overall rating.
I’d recommend this to fans of Crouch’s prior works or those looking for a fast-paced thriller.
Thank you to NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group Ballantine for access to this ebook in exchange for an honest review!

I do love me some Blake Crouch. He's great at writing compelling stories that I just can't put down. I didn't realize until I got to the end of this one that it was originally released in 2011. While I have a few of his early books, I didn't have this one, so I was happy to get this new release. Crouch throws us into the middle of an inexplicable epidemic of horrifying murderous acts from ordinary citizens, and a kill list that's being broadcast far and wide. Run is the story of a family that is literally on the run - the husband & father is on the hit list, and he's desperate to save himself but more importantly, his family.
The fact that it was from 2011 explained some of the minor issues I had with it. There were times when the encounters with the "infected" began to feel repetitive. But still the need to know - both what was actually happening, and whether the family would survive - kept me engaged and reading until the end. Even early Blake Crouch is great reading - and reading this one reminded me that I still have a couple sitting in my Kindle library that I haven't read yet.
Thanks to Netgalley and Random House/Ballantine for providing a digital copy for an unbiased review.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of Blake Crouch’s re-release of Run thanks to Netgally. I wish I did not push this book off because WOW this was amazing. Now this is what I want in a thriller. It was action packed and intense! I finished this in less than 2 days. All I have to say is that this needs to be made into a movie!

This book follows a family that is fighting for their survival when it seems as though the whole world has gone crazy and people are killing each other. I became attached to Dee, Jack, and their two kids. They endured terrible situations, separation, had so many near-death experiences, but they also found a few blissful days in the chaos. This book had me feeling every emotion. It does have some gruesome parts.
I read this book in a day! I couldn’t put it down. It’s so intense and kept me on the edge of seat, biting my nails. The writing is so detailed and atmospheric that I felt as if I was inside the story.

I loved Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, so I was excited to read this one. This one was good, but definitely wasn't as strong as Blake Crouch.

I very much enjoyed Dark Matter and I like Crouch alot as an author. This one wasn't my favorite, it's a taut thriller and I wish I could stomach the violence but at the moment I think that it was too much for me. Which I guess makes it a good book when you feel something on such a visceral level.

Blake Crouch’s Run is a pulse-pounding, high-stakes thriller that grabs you by the throat from the very first page and doesn’t let go until the heart-racing conclusion. In a world spiraling into chaos, Crouch masterfully builds a tension-filled narrative that keeps readers on the edge of their seat as the protagonist, Jack Colclough, is thrust into a fight for survival amidst a nationwide epidemic of rage and senseless violence.
The novel opens with a devastating epidemic sweeping across the country—people suddenly and violently lashing out at one another, culminating in mass murders that plague cities and towns. The epidemic quickly escalates, and when the Emergency Broadcast System begins reading out the names of the next targets, Jack and his family’s names are called. With no explanation, no time for questions, and no option other than to run, Jack finds himself on the run for his life.
What makes Run so gripping is the sense of urgency that pulses through the entire narrative. The timeline is tight, and with each passing day, the situation grows more dire. Crouch skillfully ratchets up the tension by feeding just enough information to keep readers hungry for answers, without ever slowing the relentless pace. The questions of what caused the epidemic, why certain people are targeted, and what lies at the heart of the chaos keep you turning the pages long into the night.
At its core, Run is a story of survival, family, and the lengths a parent will go to protect their loved ones. Jack is a relatable and sympathetic protagonist, thrown into an impossible situation, forced to make choices that will determine not only his survival but the survival of his wife and children. The horror of the murders and the chaos of society collapsing around him are balanced by moments of quiet determination and love, making his journey all the more powerful.
The world Crouch creates is disturbingly plausible—a world where society’s veneer of order can quickly unravel, leaving people to fend for themselves in the face of inexplicable madness. The pacing is relentless, with brief moments of respite only to launch back into the action. There is no room for second-guessing or hesitation. The only thing that matters is survival.
As the mystery of the epidemic unfolds, Crouch expertly weaves in questions about human nature, the fragility of society, and the unpredictability of the human psyche. There are moments of true terror, but also moments of hope and resilience, as Jack and his family navigate a world turned upside down.
In conclusion, Run is a captivating and suspenseful novel that delivers on its premise from start to finish. It’s a thrilling rollercoaster ride of action, mystery, and heart, with a narrative that will keep you questioning what you would do if you were thrust into such a terrifying and uncertain world. Blake Crouch has once again proven his ability to craft a pulse-pounding thriller that combines high-octane action with thought-provoking themes. Fans of psychological suspense and dystopian fiction won’t be able to put this one down.
Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for an advanced copy to honestly review.

I really loved the story line of the book. I did struggle in middle, kind of felt like it dragged a bit, but the beginning and the ending were gripping and exciting. I wish we would have gotten more answers. Overall it was a good read.

First I want to thank the Publisher and NetGalley for providing me with this ARC! This was my first book from the author and my first attempt to read sci-fi. I look forward to reading more books by Blake Crouch, like Dark Matter and Upgrade! This story was action packed from start to finish. Wasn't a favorite as I found the characters to be a bit boring. Im giving this book three stars and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys thrillers!

I realized during the cover page that this was an earlier release that is being republished.
As such, his newer work is definitely more sophisticated, but I still enjoyed this one. It starts off kind of slow, but then the action picks up and never lets go. It makes you think about what you would do in a similar situation. My only complaint here is that you need to suspend your disbelief BIG time, and it jarred me out of the story a few times. Still, this will have you on the edge of your seat, and it’s a crazy, thrilling ride.
Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for the eARC. All opinions are mine alone.

I love Blake Crouch writing! He has such a very interesting take on life and death. Run was a quick read that I could not put down.

Absolutely adore this author and will read anything they have written or will write. New favorite! Will purchase for libraries.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a readers copy of this book. My reviews never contain spoilers and are freely given.
Run is the story of a family struggling to survive after a strange aurora event turns those who viewed it into violent, dangerous people.
Their run to avoid the mobs of murderers to make it to safety is nonstop movement and hiding. No place is safe.
I enjoyed the book being a fan of Blake Crouch’s storytelling. I would recommend this title to anyone who enjoys his work.
