No question here this book will be one of my top of the year. Moriarty simply has a way of weaving storylines brilliantly while telling a masterful story. The way everything comes together is so perfectly plotted that as a reader it’s so enjoyable just to simply be lost in the story and wait for it to unfold.
.
On this ordinary day, on an ordinary flight all of the passengers’ lives will be changed when a woman on the plane starts telling passengers when she expects they will die and how. Some laugh it off, some are angry, some are nervous but when one passenger dies as predicted and then another, people begin to take notice. I don’t want to say too much but I absolutely loved this one.

Liane Moriarty's Here One Moment is one of my favorite books of 2024...or maybe ever. The story is so unique and packed with characters I grew to care about greatly.

Short, domestic flights happen every single day in every single airport. But on this particular flight, an older woman gets up, points to most passengers and crew, and tells them how and when they will die. Most just laugh it off, but when what she predicts starts to become a reality, the people who were on the plane do everything they can to stop the woman's predictions from coming true.

Imagine if you were told when and how you will die. Obviously, this often happens for people with serious illnesses. But for many of us just going about our day-to-day, we need to understand that life is so fragile and can end in an instant. This, I believe, is the ultimate message of Here One Moment.

How can a book teeming with death and grief be so life-affirming? I'm not sure how Moriarty did this, but I know I came away from this book changed for the better with a new appreciation for life.

MY RATING: 5

THIS BOOK! I could not put it down and was shocked when it was over, and after 500+ pages I still wanted more! If you've been a long-time Liane Moriarty fan this book is for you, if you are an "early" Liane Moriarty fan this book is for you, and if you've never even heard of Liane Moriarty this book is for you. The layers were perfection. And if you love spreadsheets, math, logic, and a little bit of fate - you'll be delighted in every way. LOVE!

I started reading Here One Moment because the author is Liane Moriarty, and I have always enjoyed her books; I went to bed early every night to read it because it is one of the best books I've read in recent years. I did not expect to enjoy the book since early in the book, the central character is seen predicting the deaths of passengers on a domestic flight in Australia, and she is the daughter of a psychic. I don't usually enjoy books with an element of the supernatural. However, this one surprised me in the best ways.

I adored Cherry and cared deeply for her and all of the ensemble of characters who are threaded so artfully throughout the chapters.

Moriarty is a true artist and I hope to see more intriguing, engaging stories from her in the future.

Thank you to the author, #PenguinRandomHouse, and #NetGalley for the ARC.

No one could have prepared me for the impact this book made on me. I’m absolutely obsessed, 10/10, I will be buying a copy of this book for my shelf TODAY.

Liane Moriarty has a lot to say. You could say she rambles a bit. But it works SO WELL in this book. Especially in her Cherry excerpts. The character development particularly for Cherry was so on point and even if at times things seemed irrelevant, they were not. Everything was said with intention.

The concepts in this book are so profound. It made me think, it made me emotional, and I truly connected with this book especially considering what I’m going through in my personal life at this time.

One of my closest friends I’ve known since my young teen years has been battling breast cancer for a year. Last year, her father died of brain cancer. A little over a month ago, my cousin died from brain cancer. My mom is currently battling late stage lymphoma. There has been so much loss, grief, and uncertainty in the last year. I’m a statistics person. I look at chances. Prognoses. And this book completely changed my outlook on life, death, and predictability in one of the scariest times of my life.

The narrators of this book couldn’t be better. They NAILED it and they made the experience of listening to this book so enjoyable.

This book is just incredible. I loved it SO much.

Here One Moment follows a storyline that’s been done many times before—basically how would you live your life if you knew where and how you were going to die. What makes this story special is the way that Liane Moriarty crafted and develops each of the characters that we meet along the way. It’s not easy as a reader to juggle a lot of character POV’s, and normally I’m not a huge fan of books like this, but LM has accomplishes this so well by keeping each character unique and interesting. I also really enjoyed how she personalizes the “Death Lady” just as much as the passengers on the plane, never making it obvious what her motives were. I didn’t expect the ending we got but while reading it, I thought it made so much sense.
The reason I need to give this book 4 stars instead of 5 is because I wish I got better endings for most of the passengers. We do get a general idea on how each person’s story goes, but so many were kind of vague and left me a bit disappointing I didn’t get more. Don’t get me wrong, that’s a small knock for an otherwise very well written, thought provoking book!

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty

I loved this book. The writing was insightful and charming and helped me connect to each of the characters. Liane Moriarty has a gift for writing relatable moments, and this one really proves that. With characters in all stages of life, I found moments that I truly connected to or made me stop and think.

I loved how interconnected it was and how even the tiniest moments in life can have huge impact. Life can be long and full of various stages and people, but it can also be heartbreaking and short.

Also bonus points for the short chapters and truly profound quotes.

I think my overall enjoyment of the book was also because of how much I love the idea of fate and knowing when and how you may die. I am fully in the “would want to know” category and loved how this idea was explored. I also find psychics and fortune tellers fascinating!

What a deep emotional read….
Here One Moment is told from multiple POV’s.
The beginning of the story had me quite intrigued. Then the story just seemed to drag on.
Overall, a ok read but not one I could get say I loved.

Thank you NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Wow! This book takes you on an emotional journey and leaves you with so much to think about. Told through multiple points of view that guide you through the suspense and contemplation of knowing your ultimate fate. If you knew when and how you were going to die would you live your life differently?
Each character reacts differently to knowing the fates and I loved how this story unfolded. The pace was varied but kept the suspense throughout. Eventhough it was told through multiple POVs each one flowed together flawlessly to keep the story moving. It is a long book at almost 500 pages but I read it in just a few sittings due to it being written so well and the short chapters made it move along perfectly. I did not want to put it down!
Overall, I enjoyed this book very much and recommend it highly, just as I do with all of Liane Moriarty's previous books!
All of the opinions in this review are my own but I am extremely grateful to Crown Publishing for giving me the opportunity to read a digital copy of this book through Netgalley.

Liane Moriaty's books are always an auto-read for me, so I was very excited for the chance to read "Here One Moment". This story was very unique and thought provoking. I really enjoyed this novel and can see it being one of the top reads of the year! This would be the perfect book club pick, leading to lots of good discussion.

This was so incredibly different than anything Liane Moriarty has written before, and it was refreshing to see such a unique storyline. Overall, I think it could have been a bit shorter, but overall a fun read that mixed things up in the realm of domestic thrillers/suspense.

Thank you so much for the advanced copy of Liane Moriarty's newest novel.

I have been a huge fan of Liane's since I first read "What Alice Forgot" and "The Hypnotist's Love Story". Over time I've definitely noticed her departure from women's fiction to a focus on the mystery/thriller genre. I had very high hopes for this book and I think she has delivered what her fans look forward to when they see a new release coming from her. While I found the book enjoyable, I do miss her previous writing style and I think if you were a fan of hers in the past, this might not be of interest for you in the same way that it would a newer fan of Liane's. Since "Big Little Lies", I feel like her focus has shifted into more of a "whodunnit" style - if that is not for you, I don't think this book would interest you.

I think Here One Moment was definitely well written and enjoyable, however, it will not be for fans that had experienced her older novels.

Thank you once again for providing me with this ARC.

I will forever read anything that Liane Moriarty deigns to put out. That being said, I feel this was one of her strongest releases in recent years. Although quite long, I would have read it for longer. It was a story that kept me hooked from page 1 and I was sad when I closed the back cover.

⭐️(3/5) Here One Moment - Liane Moriarty

✨Pages: 480

✨Genre: Contemporary Fiction

Thanks for the ARC @netgalley! I love Moriarty’s books and was really looking forward to this one. I seem to be in the minority, as it’s one of my least favorites of hers (I’ve read all but two.)

On an Australian flight, a passenger in a haze goes up and down the aisles predicting the date and cause of everyone’s deaths. She cannot be stopped and she tells them even if they don’t want to hear it. Known as “The Death Lady,” the rest of the passengers connect online trying to find out more about her. Then a few of the deaths she predicted come true and everyone is really anxious if their own deaths will happen as she said.

Alternating between many perspectives, we get time with a handful of the passengers on the plane living in the aftermath of her prediction. We also get Cherry (The Death Lady’s) life story. I found this very similar in theme to the recent buzzy book “The Measure,” but I liked that one more? I like Moriarty’s writing style better but I found the characters much more compelling in that one. I was invested in 3 of the characters’ outcomes only and I really didn’t care about Cherry’s perspective. It halted the book for me in many ways pacing wise. But so many reviews I’m seeing loved her chapters so what do I know 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ll always read anything Moriarty writes but this one was more interesting in concept than execution for me. It also took me almost a month to read this one which is super rare for me. I just didn’t feel compelled to pick it up. And I wanted more from the ending!

✨Content Warnings: Death, Suicidal Thoughts, Terminal Illness, Infertility, Child Death, Self Harm

What would you do if you found out the year and cause of your death? The daughter of a psychic has an episode on a plane where she tells each individual their expected cause and age of death. This leaves some passengers confused and a few rattled. Then her predictions start coming true and everyone starts to unravel.

This book kept me entertained from start to finish. I was constantly waiting to see what happened next. There were a lot of storylines to follow so that was challenging, but kept me going right until the end.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the ARC of Here One Moment.

Would you want to know how and when you were going to meet the end? “The Death Lady” foresees the demise of passengers on a plane whether they want to know or not. “Fate won't be fought,” she proclaims to the unwilling captive audience. Gradually predictions are tested as lives are lost. This was an interesting tale that asks the question, “What if?” The premise is original, however, the middle of the story is long and slightly sluggish. The plot did pick up as prophecies came to fruition. The narration masterfully brought the story to life as lives were extinguished. Thank you, NetGalley and Crown Publishing for my audiobook.

Liane Moriarty is a bit hit or miss for me. I was not a fan of Nine Perfect Strangers but I loved Big Little Lies. The synopsis of Here One Moment was mysteriously promising and for a large chunk of the book it delivered.

Imagine the anxiety of boarding a plane maybe while looking forward to a vacation, honeymoon, visit or just a typical business trip or return flight and a possible psychic predicts your death. Would you believe it? Fans of The Measure may very well enjoy this novel. Do you change your trajectory? Start living like no tomorrow? Or cautiously take all the tests in hopes of circumventing a terminal disease?

Favorite characters in this story for me were Allegra, Stephanie, and Ethan. The ending was quite fun and I appreciated it for sure. All of Cherry’s story was background music and I mostly skimmed.

I love Liane Moriarty’s books but this one was not my favorite. There was not great character development. The story is based around passengers on a flight learn when they’ll die. Moriarty’s writing style and twists made it a decent read. I will definitely continue to read her books but this was just a 3 star for me.

Thank you Netgalley and Crown for allowing me to read this ARC!

Intriguing story, different than anything I have read. Well plotted with interesting characters. Gets a little confusing with both past and present. Somehow it all fits together in the end.
