I can’t say enough good things about this book. I’m a fan of Liane Moriarty, so I was excited to read this novel. But the story isn’t like her other, twisty thrillers. This is an original, stand-alone story unlike any other I’ve read. I loved the characters and their multiple POVs. The pacing felt just right, and I think Moriarty did a great job resolving each storyline. I would recommend this book!

The semester ended at school so I had a little extra time to really put forth the final push to get through Liane Moriarty's Here One Moment. I've been drawn to read this novel during the moments I have a little downtime because it's captivating from the first page.
Here One Moment begins on a plane where the passengers are told their fates. Cherry goes up and down the aisles predicting the deaths of all the passengers. This outburst could have been chalked up to another random passenger behaving badly on a commercial flight, except her predictions started coming true. Incredibly, the predictions come true, as stated. For example, if she predicted someone's death in a car accident at the age of 24, the passenger succumbs to that fate.
Fate.
As the novel alters between Cherry's first-person narrative, and key passengers, fate is continuously being challenged. If you knew when and how you would die, could you change your fate? Or allow life to run its course.
We journey with the characters as they struggle with choosing between fate and free will. Finding out if Cherry is correct is not even the biggest motivation to finish this lengthy novel. The characters are so real and fleshed out. Moriarty uses every word deliberately and allows no time for boredom.
I mention Moriarty using every word purposefully because this novel is mainly about Cherry. She could have been written off as a gimmick. It's easy to dismiss psychics and mediums as crazies. Instead, Moriarty chose to expound on her story and managed to make me miss getting to know her when I wasn't reading her narrative.
That brings me to my only gripe. I didn't consume this novel in a few days like I recommend doing. If this novel is read in a timely manner, the supporting cast stories won't be lost in the fray. Because I like reviewing novels, I've learned to take notes. The average reader, if they spend too much time away, may not remember where the story left off for one of the other passengers. It's not a true gripe, but it's something to be cautious of. When using a multi-layered ensemble, it's best to read without long breaks between.
Ultimately, I loved Here One Moment. Personally, I'm one of those people who wishes they had chosen a different path to change my fate. Fighting with my younger self for not finishing school in my 20s as I work towards my degree in my 40s. The point of it all is that we keep on moving forward. We keep on choosing. We keep on living.

Here One Moment is another masterpiece by Liane Moriarty. She has taken her usual psychological twists and turned them into a new story about the battle of fate and free-will. A plane full of strangers find themselves in a very unsettling situation when an ordinary seeming lady walks down the aisle pointing at each individual uttering two things: cause of death, age of death. These predictions are received with all different ranges of reactions, but many don't think much of them until these predictions start to come true. Several passengers die and the remaining are left trying to find the "death lady" to have their destiny altered. When all is said and done, does anyone actually have control of their own fate?

I was lucky enough to get an early copy thanks to NetGalley and the publisher. Not Moriartys best, but an enjoyable, deep, provocative novel that earns its rightful place in the upper tier of her iconic backlist.

I have heard Liane Moriarty is a good author so I wanted to try her books. I was bored. I felt the exact same way reading this book as I felt watching Lost. Really cool idea, poorly executed. It fell very flat and lost me along the way.

“Here One Moment” by Liane Moriarty has garnered a range of reactions from readers and critics. The novel centers on a mysterious woman who, during a flight to Sydney, predicts the specific causes and times of death for her fellow passengers. This unsettling event prompts characters to confront themes of fate, mortality, and the extent of control over one’s destiny.
I enjoyed its engaging premise and thought-provoking narrative.
Overall, “Here One Moment” offers an intriguing exploration of fate and mortality, resonating deeply with some readers while leaving others desiring a more cohesive narrative.

Thank you Net Galley and Penguin Random House for this ARC. Imagine being on a plane and some random woman starts predicting when and how you will die. Here One Moment takes you on an emotional ride which leaves you on the edge of your seat waiting to learn everyone's fate. A thought-provoking, heartfelt, and utterly engaging read. Highly recommend!

4.5 stars! Thank you to NetGalley for this arc! On a routine flight, passengers learn the exact moment and manner of their deaths. For some, it's far in the future, no big deal, but for six, it's terrifyingly soon. The mysterious "Death Lady," unnoticed by anyone onboard, predicts their fates with chilling accuracy.
After a few months, one by one, the deaths unfold as predicted, and the once-dismissed story becomes a terrifying reality. This is no longer just a strange anecdote, it’s the truth.

Thank you to Netgalley and the Publishing Company for this Advanced Readers Copy of Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty!

When I first read the description of this book, I was super intrigued - the idea that your death could be predicted on by a random person, without anyone asking, mid flight, it hooked me.
The first chunk of the story dragged me in - everyone knows how and what age they will die, now what!? How will each person use this information, and how will it change their lives? I was so into it.
And then… I quickly got bored. I found myself devouring some characters' chapters while wanting to entirely skip the next! I just couldn't get into everyone, and it seemed like such a disservice to those I could.

Wow. What a plot. You are on a plane with a woman who starts going up and down the aisles, telling everyone their age and cause of death. For some, it was far into the future…but for a few on the plane…it was very soon! The book flows through different chapters, sharing these characters lives after they depart the plane….mixing with some chapters about the Death Lady herself…both past and present. Liana Moriarty has this way of writing her characters that really gets you invested in their lives and you start to care about what happens to them. There were a lot of people to keep up with in this book, but then you really start to know them and it is quite difficult to put down! This reminds me more of her older books, which I enjoyed so much. I don’t want to say more…..I just want you to read it! And if you already have read it, let’s discuss!!!
Bottom Line: Read it!
**I received a copy of Here One Moment from Netgalley and am leaving this review voluntarily. All opinions are my own.**

Thank you so much to Crown Publishing, Penguin, and Netgalley for approving me for one of my favorite author's ARCs! Here One Moment follows the passengers of a flight where something extraordinary is happening - people are learning when and how they are going to die. No one knew how this person got onto the flight. Her appearance is unremarkable, and she doesn't shine a light on herself by being drunk or nervous. Passengers believe this is all a joke, and they go on about their day like nothing has happened. Everything was quiet until a few months later when someone dies just the way this person predicted. Then two more passengers die the same way. Soon, no one is thinking this was just a funny party trick. If you were told how and when you were going to die, would you do things differently? How would you live? Would you try to dodge the prediction you were told?
The concept of this book is excellent, but the execution wasn't. I'm not exactly sure what I was expecting from this book, but I don't think this was it. The huge cast of characters was the first big turnoff in this book. Trying to keep up with everyone throws you off and makes you disassociate with the book, and, in the end, you just don't care about anyone because you never get to know them well. I was invested in one or two characters throughout the book, and that made the story a bit interesting, but not enough for me to rate this story any higher than three stars. You also get to know the "Death-Lady", whose name is Cherry. We learn of her back story that doesn't exactly fit into the concept of the book, and I was bored of her perspective very quickly, especially since you jump in between her POV and the other characters' POVs every other chapter. The book is 512 pages long and could have easily been less if we didn't jump between the huge cast of characters so much that it just ends up being repetitive in the end due to the paranoia and worry everyone has.
This ended up being a "how is this going to end?" type of book because if I wasn't 100% curious, I could have easily DNF'd this book. I didn't like how the author tied things up in the end. I was VERY disappointed with how simple and quick the book ended. I did enjoy how much this book makes you think and how it puts your real life in perspective, but not enough for this to be rated any higher. Overall, this book is just okay. Not my favorite of hers, but it's one that will make me think for a very long time.

“Here One Moment” is not the twisty psychological thriller that Moriarty fans love. This is more of an introspective character driven story. It will leave you asking yourself, “what would you do differently if you knew you were going to die?” “What would you want to do with a loved one to ensure you had no regrets?” These are the questions people on a Sydney flight are left asking themselves after a nondescript woman predicts for each of them, their cause and age of death. The novel goes on to follow several of the memorable characters as they grapple with their morality. The narrative alternates back to the life story of Cherry, “the Death Lady” as she becomes known.
I was disappointed in this novel because I was looking forward to more of a thriller. However it’s full of Moriarty’s humor, quick wit and mastery of prose; there’s a lot to enjoy if you know what you’re getting into.

Liane Moriarty's HERE ONE MOMENT has been sitting on my TBR shelf for way too long. I started this way before publication but was never able to get into it - a surprise because I adore many of Moriarty's previous books. I finally picked it up again last week. I have mixed feelings about this one … the last quarter or so is phenomenal, but it took a while to get there because it’s so long.
The premise of HERE ONE MOMENT is creepy and fantastic: an ordinary woman tells people on a plane their age and when they’re going to die. When some of these predictions come true, people start to realize that they should probably change their lives before it’s too late.
My main complaint is that there are a lot of characters to keep track of, and Cherry’s story isn’t as compelling as I wish it would have been. Overall, however, HERE ONE MOMENT is a poignant read and the epilogue rounded the story out nicely. This might have worked better for me as a movie or show?
A sincere thank you to Crown Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read HERE ONE MOMENT in exchange for my honest feedback, and I apologize that my feedback is late.

What would you do if someone told you when and how you would die? Would you believe it, would you try to change your course in life? Would you live your life differently and perhaps change the outcome? Or would you ignore the information and continue on in life as you always have? Such questions and so many choices.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story. If you had the chance to see the future, would you want to know when your life would end? This kept going through my mind throughout the entire story. I enjoyed learning about the various characters, then finding out what really made Cherry’s brain tick. Moriarity did it again with a great books!

So interesting & I really enjoyed this book. Moriarty has not disappointed me yet - definitely recommend!
I would like to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.

This book was so interesting because it introduced all these characters with unreliable narration. I was invested in some story lines more than others and found myself putting it down when it switched. At times it was a jarring transition. Overall enjoyed the plot and unraveling of the story.

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty is a thought-provoking and intricately crafted exploration of fate, relationships, and the choices we make. The story begins with Allegra Patel, a flight attendant who is just trying to get through a long day on her twenty-eighth birthday. As the flight is delayed, Allegra observes the passengers around her, each of them preoccupied with their own lives and worries. From the well-dressed man anxious about missing his daughter’s musical to a mother struggling to balance her career and family, Moriarty deftly introduces a cast of characters whose paths will unexpectedly intersect.
The twist comes when a mysterious woman stands up during the flight and begins making chilling predictions about how and when each passenger will die. Some passengers scoff at her warnings, while others become consumed with fear and try to defy her prophecies. This surreal event sets the stage for a deeper exploration of the big questions in life: What would you do if you knew how your life would end? How would it change your decisions about love, career, and personal relationships?
Moriarty’s trademark wit shines through in Here One Moment, as she balances humor and heartbreak with her signature style. The characters are relatable and nuanced, and the novel’s exploration of regret, unfulfilled dreams, and the unpredictability of life is both poignant and compelling. The central theme of how we hold onto and let go of the people and moments that matter most is sure to resonate with readers.
Here One Moment is an engaging, cleverly structured tale that will make you reflect on your own life choices and the unpredictable turns fate can take. Fans of Liane Moriarty’s previous works will find this novel to be just as captivating, with its deep emotional insights, humor, and unexpected twists.

What can't Liane Moriarty do? The entire premise of this book was fascinating. The idea that some mad woman on a plane was going around telling everyone how they would die and any of it coming true is terrifying. Especially for those with young kids. I was entranced by this book.
