Thanks to NetGalley, Liane Moriarty, and Crown Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Here One Moment. I received an advanced reader copy for free in exchange for my honest review.

I was intimidated by this novel due to its length and number of chapters, but once I picked it up I read it in just a few days. It centers on the backstory of a woman who predicts the age and manner of death of passengers on a plane and the ways those predictions impact the other passengers.

I found the book quite thought provoking, wondering how I would respond to a similar experience. The book came together well and I enjoyed the ending. I would normally not read a book of this length, but I’m glad I gave it a go!

I love books that make me think and the detailed lives of the many characters so I rate this book 5 stars.

Thanks to NetGalley, Liane Moriarty, and Crown Publishing for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Here One Moment. I received an advanced reader copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I will start off by saying that this book is long and it feels longer than it actually is. The chapters are not huge; some even consist of less than a page. There are a lot of characters and scenarios to keep track of, so I think this is what makes the book feel like it drags. The chapters alternate between all of the characters and also between past and present. I think it would have been better to start each one with a character's name, rather than a simply chapter number.

It sort of feels like the Final Destination movies in a way. The core cast of characters are all on a plane together. One of the passengers has what seems like a blackout period where she tells each person how they will die and at what age, but she does not remember ever doing this. The passengers get that eerie feeling that now death is coming for them. I wanted to root for each person to avoid their untimely demises. The only character that was hard for me to enjoy was the "death lady" herself. Her chapters were the worst to get through at times.

In the end, the overall feeling of the book was rather remarkable. Although it felt like it took a long time to get there, when the ending did come, I did not want to stop reading. I wanted to continue the journey with everyone. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys feeling deeper emotions. The length of the book is greatly outweighed by the outcome.

Leave it to Liane Moriarty to completely suck you into a story like this one. From the very beginning I knew this was going to be a wild ride and it really was. I love the drama of the "predictions" but most of all I loved everything coming together the way it always seems to in her books. Connections are formed and revealed in ways I definitely did not see coming.

I was hoping for good things from this book since its Liane Moriarty, and while it started out strong, it really didn't hold up for me.

This was a slow move for me. The flashbacks to the main characters lives were not needed for me to enjoy the book. I was much more invested in the current day cast of characters. The last third of the book, it did pick up and I enjoyed that much more.

I am a big fan of Liane Moriarty and have read most of her books so was very excited to get this ARC from NetGalley. The story read like a classic Moriarty novel with quirky but lovable characters. Moriarty’s style is often a bit a of rambling, train of consciousness, which generally contributes to the character development. In this book there was a lot of background story telling by one of the characters who took on this style and I found it to be a bit much at times which is the reason I dropped one star. Otherwise it was a very enjoyable read and would recommend it to anyone!

I’m a huge Liane Moriarty fan and always excited when she’s got a new title hitting.

This one is hard for me to review. It started out strong with such an intriguing first few scenes. And the ending was exactly as I’d hoped it would be so that was great. Unfortunately, the middle was a bit of a slog and took me forever to get through.

So while I still consider myself a fan, this one just didn’t quite do it for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and Crown Publishing for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

On a normal flight, a woman predicts cause and age of death for the passengers on the plane. When her prediction comes through for one of the passengers pretty soon after the flight, others start to worry. Should they avoid the things that she said would cause their deaths? All in all, this was an intriguing read. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

So good, could not put it down!!

On an otherwise fairly normal delayed flight, the “Death Lady” walked through the cabin giving people their age and cause of death predictions, starting a butterfly effect of impacts across the other passengers lives.

We get to follow along as Cherry tells us how she became the Death Lady, and how so many of the passengers are coping with the aftermath. Some of them, not coping well at all. Others have made drastic life changes to try to beat their death predictions. But when the predictions start to come true, all bets are off.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House and Liane Moriarty for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of Here One Moment.
I thoroughly enjoyed this speculative fiction/thriller by one of my favorite authors, Liane Moriarty. I found this emotional, disturbing, a bit snarky and kept me quickly turning the pages. The characters are well developed , unique and all change through their experience with Cherry and her predictions of death. All of the characters were realistic and human. I could identify with each and everyone of them. I especially enjoyed Cherry’s back story and how she became such a complicated woman.
This story made me think of my own mortality. Would I change my decisions if I knew how and when I was going to die? Like most of the characters the answer is yes. This story would make a great screen adaptation. I’’m hopeful that occurs. This story has been on my mind for days after I finished it. That to me is an indication of a great novel. Five stars, without a doubt!

Fate will not be fought.

This book left me with goosebumps! This story follows a cast of characters after a lady on a flight begins to tell strangers their age of death and cause of death. The predictions leave passengers and crew on edge. As the story unfolds through multiple points of view, you see how that day came to be and it's lasting impacts on the lives of those on the flight. I found this to be very thought provoking, and couldn’t stop thinking about it. It will be one of those books I think about long after I’ve written this review!

Many thanks to @crownpublishing @netgalley for my #gifted (free) copy. Pub date 9/10/24.

This book was incredible! I'm not going to lie it did have a slow start, but I promise you just keep reading! I loved how we really get to know all the characters, and you just keep hoping nothing bad happens to them. This is unlike any book I have ever read, and it will definitely stay with me for a long time!

It was just supposed to be an easy quick flight from Hobart to Sydney, but one ordinary lady changed that for the passengers of the plane. The ordinary lady Cherry stood up and walked down the aisle and told all the passengers what age they would die and how they would die. Some passengers were scared, and some thought she was just a crazy lady, that is until a few months after the flight, some of her predictions start coming true. Told through multiple POVs that we really get to know a handful of the passengers and what they do with the prediction they were given. The ending was perfection! Grab this book on 9/10!!!!

A sharply written narrative that explores the human experiences of fate, free will, grief, and love in this uncertain world.

The moment I saw Liane Moriarty had a new book out, I jumped at the chance to read it. And once again, she does not disappoint. Here One Moment covers the lives of individuals who had the (mis)fortune to be on a plane with a psychic who predicted their age and cause of death. Alternating between their post-plane paths and the history of the psychic, the characters keep you hooked. The dilemma of "fate vs free will" bounced around in my head for weeks after.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the Advance Readers Copy.

Bravo, Ms. Moriarty! This was such a unique novel and I don't think I've read anything even close. A touch of the mystical but grounded in reality, the closest I might compare it to is the plot of the Final Destination series. Very developed characters and such a great plot!

This book was a joy to read. This author is just an automatic read for me because anything she writes will just move you in so many ways. She has a way of pulling your emotions our and just leaving them to do what they do. I always have to brace myself going into one of her books so needless to say I really enjoyed this book. Try going into it without reading the synopsis and I think it will be a better read. I highly recommend this book and author.

Liane is such a great author. She can take strangers and tie them together in an amazing story.

For this book I enjoyed the plot and presentation so much! It truly makes the reader think if they knew the year and how they would die, what would you do?

The connections we have between others and the choices we make can be incredibly important.

But I thought the book was a bit too long and some of the characters stories took up more space than was necessary. Also, it took me about 40% to really get into the story because there were SO many characters. It made sense for the story but it was still a bit overwhelming.

“The thing is, you can’t always choose your future. Not in a world of risk and uncertainty. No matter what the self-help gurus tell you. You can only attempt to guide it in the right direction, like a willful horse, but except there will be times when it will gallop off in a direction, not of your choosing.”

Do you believe that everything is predetermined? One day, on a much-delayed flight, an older woman gets up out of her seat and walks through the plane telling everyone their age of death and cause of death. Some people don't believe her; some people obsess over the prediction, and some people only begin to take her seriously when some predictions start coming true.

The chapters alternate between the POV of the woman, called the Death Lady by some, and some of the people who were on the plane: Leo, predicted to die at 43 in workplace accident, Ethan, predicted to die at 30 in an assault, Eve, predicted to die from intimate partner homicide, Paula, who was predicted to have a long life, but her son was predicted to die at 7 in a drowning,

Here One Moment by Liane Moriarty examines life and grief: what would you do if you knew you would die soon? Or can fate be changed?

Thanks to the publisher, the author, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
