I am a huge Liane Moriarty fan. The premise of this book really drew me in - very clever, very unique! The first, say, 25% had me HOOKED. I really connected with the storylines, characters - thought their development was excellent. I felt I was on that plane! I was dying - pardon the pun - to see where this was going. Then I started to feel it lost its way a little. We got way too much of the Death Lady's backstory, and some of it almost felt like filler - it was more the author had given us her autobiography without us knowing how 80% of it was even relevant to the story. It became a book about HER. I don't have to like a character, but I have to be intrigued by them. Unfortunately Death Lady did not intrigue me at all. I ended up skimming her chapters to get to the outcomes of the predictions. When I got there, I felt in some way like I was wanting more. A touch more plot? More intrigue? A twist that took the book charging off in a surprising direction? I felt a little unsatisfied. The book is getting some wonderful reviews, so maybe the theme just fell a bit flat for me. That said, what a cool idea! And what terrific character development! Liane really does know how to create real people on the page. I DID end up feeling like I knew all of them pretty well by the end.

I just finished wiping the tears from my face...the most beautifully, poignant book that I have read in a long while. Cherry will be added to my list of favorite characters.
You are on a flight when suddenly a passenger starts to give you predictions of your death. What follows is how each passenger reacts to these fore tellings. I had chills at times and really felt Cherry's heartbreaks
Someone please turn this into a movie. Liane Moriarty congratulations on an outstanding novel.
Thanks to Netgalley for the ARC...my pleasure to give back my opinion.

Really enjoyed this book!!! Have been a Liane Moriarty fan for some time, and she just keeps getting better and better!! The premise of the book, knowing when you might die, is so thought provoking. Would you want to know? What would you do if you did know? I loved the way the author provided all the various perspectives.....some people took preventative action and warded off a possible demise. Others let it rule their life. And others just went on about their business not really believing the prediction. The author handled all the different story lines so well, including that of the protagonist. Highly recommend this book, it is definitely a page turner.

i’d consider myself a wannabe liane moriarty—she has such charming characterization and a really special ability to weave millions of loose strings into the most perfect, satisfactory knot of an ending. this novel about a psychic on a plane predicting each passenger’s cause of death and age of death, and the subsequent ramifications that occur upon each unique character realizing their death is sooner—or farther away—than they initially thought, was an absolute delight.

I'm a fan of Liane Moriarty perhaps because many of her books don't fall exactly in the typical thriller genre. This installment is no exception. I loved the premise of the predictions of how people will die and how this affects how they live their lives afterwards. It was suspenseful and I was along for the ride. I also loved how many pieces were connected without originally seeming to be. Overall, a fun read.

I love a book that can make you think deeply, and that's just what Liane has done here: she made me think. She made me feel something. My goodness. This would be a great book for fans of THE IMMORTALISTS and THE MEASURE!

I usually really enjoy Liane Moriarty’s books and this one did not disappoint! The author has a way of pulling you into the character’s lives and keeping you there until the entire story has been told.

Here One Moment
Liane Moriarty
God gives us a certain amount of time to use for His Glory. Acts 13:22
We are each allotted an amount of time, not a measure more or a measure less.
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, Making the most of every opportunity…Ephesians 5:15-16a
Here One Moment asks a question: What would you do differently if you knew the exact time of your death?
A woman boards a plane along with the other passengers. The flight is delayed. The woman stands up, counts to three and goes into a trance like state. She begins to walk down the aisle and point to each passenger and predict the age they will die and the cause of their death. Her predictions were frightening for some, terrifying for others.
Allegra Patel was told she would die on her 28th birthday at her own hand. Paula Binici, mother of Tim, will live to be 100 but Tim would drown at age 7. Leo, a civil engineer, will die in a work-related accident in November. Sue O’Sullivan was told she had a few years left and then she would die of pancreatic cancer, but her husband Max would live well into his 90s. Ethan Change was told he would die from the assault of his roommate’s boyfriend, after his next birthday. Dom was told he would live to be 100 but his new bride would be murdered by Dom.
Nonsense, no one can predict the death of someone. Or can they? The woman that made the predictions was Cherry the daughter of Madame M, a famous Clairvoyant. Could she have the power to see into the future? Could she see the deaths and causes?
The former passengers became nervous when three people die when and how Cherry predicted. Should the former passengers make changes in their lives to try to avoid death? What if Paula teaches her son, Tim, to swim before his 7th birthday? What if Leo quits his job? Should Allegra seek counseling? Can we beat death?
This is a fascinating look at life, death and how we deal with it. This book will have us all questioning life. Are our days numbered? Or do our choices make a difference?
Thank you NetGalley for providing a copy of this book for review.

I am a huge fan of Lianne Moriarty and her latest novel does not disappoint, it may be even her best one yet. Cherry Lockwood, the middle aged daughter of a fortune teller boards a plane. In the middle of the flight she stands up and begins to pace the cabin pointing at each passenger telling them of what they will die of and at what age. Many laugh it off, many are horrified and frightened, after all is this crazy woman a psychic with special abilities? They all disembark and go their own ways. However a few days later one of Cherry's predictions comes true, and then another, and another. The people she has made predictions about are desperate for answers and each begins to change and modify their lives in order to avoid an untimely death, just in case it's true. What I love about Moriarty's writing is that she infuses humor and humanity into all her characters and treats them like friends she truly cares about. She makes me care about all of them as well. This book explores a lot of concepts, life, death, karma and the human experience. I just loved it, couldn't put it down and can't recommend it highly enough. Supremely entertaining. Thank you Ms, Moriarty for another excellent story. 5 solid stars.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Crown Publishing for a chance to read an ARC of this compelling story.

Would you want to know when and how you were going to die? On a flight, Cherry tells other passengers on the flight exactly that. The POV shifts between Cherry’s story and that of some of the passengers. This was my first read of Liane Moriarty and I am ready to dive into the rest of her catalogue!

On a flight from Hobart to Sydney mid flight a woman, Cherry, proceeds to walk down the aisle and tell her fellow travelers how and at a what age they will die. When it seems like a couple of her predictions have come true, we see the results her predictions have on the lives of those people. The chapters alternate between telling Cherry’s story and that of her fellow passengers. Would you want to know how and when you were going to die? Would it change your behavior maybe in a positive or negative way? Would it change your relationships? Would it change your outlook on life? Liane Moriarty’s novel causes the reader to ponder this questions on a personal level. An interesting and thought provoking read.

Let me start by saying that Liane Moriarity is an auto buy author for me. So, when I was offered an ARC of this book, I had high hopes & expectations. And Moriarty did it once again!! The premise of this story is very unique & I could not get enough. Here One Moment is a book I will think about for a long time. After all, if you knew how long you would live, what would you do differently? A superb read!!
Thank you NetGalley & Crown Publishing for an ARC copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

This is great read. The characters were engaging and I couldn't put the book down. I would recommend this book for a book club or a friend.

I really like Liane Moriarty’s books so I wasn’t the least bit surprised when I couldn’t put this one down. It is certainly one of my favourites of her books!
The book revolves around an incident on a plane where a woman walks the length of the plane telling people how they’ll die and at what age. The rest of the book follows half a dozen people who fight with themselves on whether or not to believe the prediction and what they can or cannot do about it. While it alternates between the passengers it also goes to the woman who made the predictions and explains her life before the event on the plane.
It is engrossing, creative, and addictive. I highly recommend this book.

Thank you NetGalley and Crown Publishing Group for sending this book for review consideration.
Here One Moment is about a woman who gets on a plane and tells each passenger how and when they will die. The story then follows several passengers as they deal with the weight of the woman’s predictions. Told from multiple points of view, including from the “death lady”, as she becomes known.
The plot moves quickly, and coincidences happen that make the reader think there’s no way this is realistic, until Moriarty makes them possible.
This is a book that touches on that basic human question of fate vs. free will. As a philosophy nerd I was in heaven. I can see book clubs reading this book for years to come.

This book was unexpected! From the start, individuals are waiting for a plane to depart. In typical fashion, the plane is delayed.. Then delayed again. Each chapter gives a different perspective of the various characters who are intertwined by an incident. A woman somberly and abruptly alters their lives.. Leaving them to question and doubt what they believe is true. The woman delivers the cause and age of their death. Following the arrival to the airport and the next few years, the characters reach out to each other via the internet to check in to see if her predictions were true. The characters are doubting what they know and are unsure if their prediction will become their reality. This was an interesting read to see how the characters and their families navigated the information the “Death Lady” deemed for their future. An unreliable narrator will hook readers from the start!

Cherry Lockwood is a fairly average person who doesn't stand out to anyone. She loves math and order, it seems. She finds herself on an ordinary short domestic flight when suddenly she begins predicting the cause of death and age of death of her fellow passengers. While many are normal as-expected deaths, some are shocking and fairly young. When, shortly after the flight, a young passenger dies just as predicted, the stress and anxiety ramp up for the other passengers. This story is told from multiple perspectives, alternating between Cherry's perspective and that of different passengers on the flight. I like how Cherry's story and life slowly come out, and you learn why she was on the flight and where she came from. And I enjoyed the insight into how each passenger processed their foretold future. And while the story seems a little fantastical, it's rooted in our humanity and human nature. Ultimately, it makes you think, as it did for the passengers of the flight, how would you live if you knew when and how you would die?
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for this free advanced copy of Here One Moment to read and review.

Liane Moriarty has a way of lightly guiding you towards an ending you maybe didn't predict, but still feels so satisfactory for the story. She's done it again with a book that seems to be about a perplexing central mystery, but ends up being about the people touched by it more than anything else. I finished it with tears in my eyes and an immediate resolve to look around me and appreciate the little things more. Life is in the small moments.
