Positively Adorable and Creative!! This fun little adventure is so perfect for your little ones.Soon to be a family favorite. Perfect for those bedtime snuggles and a story to be ready again and again. This story is meant to be shared and read aloud with your family. In this little rhyming adventure we follow a worried sister in search of her baby brother who seems to have wandered off. She searches high and low, but we have to be careful because there is a dragon nearby. We follow the path and discover more mythical creatures until we find the dragon. I don’t want to give this fun story away. Your family will love this fun adventure. So creative and imaginative. The beautiful and adorable illustrations really complete this adventure. They are so colorful and childlike. This story is just so fun, you're in for a real great. It is a new favorite in our home! Enjoy this adventure together.
A sky full of stars 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 for this.
A clever early read, with a superb narrative poem of a girl who has to try and find her royal brother – but at the same time dare not, for the life of her, disturb the dragon that they share the island kingdom with. After some examples of easily-mistaken identity, we can guess the twist ending, but it's still a pleasure. Really strong visual style and – to repeat – a wonderfully easy, rhyming verse of a story add up to a delight of a book. With the sequel this ends up nudging us towards already imminent, it was a shame I didn't see this in the original British edition, but now it's got American publishers (and an exclamation mark in the title) nothing is going to stop it. A roaring success, if you like – four and a half stars.
What a lovely book. The journey, the characterization, all the colors, the rhythm everything about this book screams to be read. Perfect for a story time and a book that kids will ask to be read again and again. I truly loved this not only as someone who can use this personally in the library but as a mother who would read this book again and again to my own child.
Thank you so much to Sourcebook Kids and Netgalley for allowing me to read an advance copy of this title.
As a mum of two little girls I've read a lot of picturebooks about dragons.
But "Don't Disturb the Dragon! just turned out to be one of my favorites!
The colorfull cover made me nosy right from the start, and then when you open this picturebook there's this great map with lots of things to see...
And than there;s the story about a little girl searching for her baby brother, who just started to crawl.
She goes a long way to find her baby brother but knows she has to be very carefull:
"We must be quiet. We must take care.
For somewhere near, a HUGE beast lies,
with giant claws and great big eyes!
Do not disturb the Dragon!"
During her short and amazing adventure she stumbles upon lots of things little kids will like, like unicorns, fairies and little animals.
The big question is, will she find her little brother and will he be okay.
This amazing, lovely story is nice, has humor and beautiful drawings.
And besides that it shows your kids that not everything is what it seems like!
I LOVED THIS BOOK! The rhyming flows so well, the story is extremely engaging, and the art is cute! I will absolutely be using this for my library outreach programs once it's published. The kids love a silly book, and I love a book with real narrative structure, so this will be perfect!
This book is so fun. The vibrant colors draw you in, as well as the silly illustrations. The story itself is a fun adventure, that offers plenty of opportunity for interaction during a read aloud, and is written in wonderful rhyming lines that help keep the tone and movement of the story. I love the little teaser of the pirate ship at the end. I hope to see more books in this fun series.
Thank you for the ARC of this book.
Me and my three year old loved reading this one. Such a lovely story and it rhymes!
Will definitely be buying the physical book when it’s released.
Okay so this is cute, but I thought it was by the author of another VERY similar children's book. Similar title, similar story, similar dragon... It is a little uncanny, to be honest.
Now, that aside, the story is cute. Vibrant illustrations, silly situations and a nice little rhyme. I could see this being read one on one with a child before bed. Smart way to end it on the last page (spoiler: a reference to another book by the same author). Overall, very cute. Kids will love it. Dragons are always a hit with my library kiddos!
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Kids for a digital ARC in exchange for my, and my son's, honest reviews.
This is an adventurous, silly and adorable book following a princess as she searches for her baby brother. The illustrations are vibrant and beautifully done! The writing is fun and engaging and makes for an entertaining read. You can't read this book just straight through with a monotone voice; the way it's structured makes it so easy to change up the tempo and lilt of your voice to match the vibe of the story. My son loves it and asks to read it every night, so after the 20th time reading it, I both love and hate this book (but in a good way). I plan to purchase this book when it comes out!
All of my kids, age 8, 6, and 2 years old enjoyed this book. My 8 year old liked the vivid illustrations and could read this independently. He thought it was clever. My 6 year old, emerging reader, could read this with assistance. The pictures and stories kept him interested enough to continue attempting to read new to him words. My 2 year old loves story time. She mostly liked the dragon. I can't blame her. This is a great picture book.
"Don't Disturb the Dragon!" was so wonderful and captivating that I plan on buying the physical copy of the book when it is released. What a gem!
A cute rhyming book as a little girl is looking for her brother while trying not to disturb the dragon. The illustrations are bright and colorful as she keeps thinking she sees parts of the dragon but it ends up being other characters that help her on her way. A sweet book that moves you quickly through the story all while trying to not disturb the dragon.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc.
A quick read about a little girl who is looking for her baby brother who has managed to leave the castle and now must be found. But what will she do about the scary dragon? We have to be sure not to wake him up. A cute story about imagination and understanding that perhaps what we believe might not be true.
I received a ARC of this title, all opinions are my own.
I love the images and the rhythmic flow. The book would be great for a storytime in a classroom or library. I could see both settings using this book for lessons/programs.
A lovely bedtime story.
I enjoyed the way the book rhymed, the use of adding some counting into the story was great. The mythical creatures was a nice touch. I thought it was a lovely idea that the little girl realised that the dragon was lonely, and showed kindness. I liked that it ended with don’t wake the pirates, opening for a future story?
The illustrations were adorable too.
Thanks you to Netgalley and Sourcebook Kids for the advance egalley of this book. Opinions expressed are my own.
This is such an adorable children’s book. The illustrations are bright and colorful. There is so much to look at on each page. The illustrator really paid attention to detail. The story is fun and engaging. The text is rhythmic and easy to read. This would be a fun book to read aloud in a classroom. I think young readers will really enjoy this story!
Thank you to Netgalley and Sourcebooks Kids for the advanced reader copy of this book. Don't Disturb the Dragon is absolutely adorable! I loved the story, the rhyming, and the illustrations. Kids will definitely love this book!
Thank you, NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Kids, for this ARC of Don't Disturb the Dragon, written by Rhiannon Findlay and illustrated by Siân Roberts!
My favorite part of this book was the rhyming sentences, which make it such a fun and easy read aloud during class! I also love the attention to detail in the illustrations and how the different animals participate throughout the story. It is just precious!
This story takes the reader on an adventure to find the baby brother. We follow the big sister throughout the story to find the baby without disturbing the Dragon and trekking through the different surrounding areas of the Castle they live in. I love that when you read this book out loud, it prompts questions that make the reader feel as though they are on the journey as well. Once the brother is found, we discover where he has been and with whom. This story had a lovely ending and left us thinking of what book could be next if the author chooses to write another!
Overall, this was a charming book covering many themes, including adventure, fantasy, perseverance, kindness, sibling dynamics, dragons, and more! I plan to purchase this book for my school's library when available! Thank you again for this ARC!
My boys and I loved everything about this book. The writing is engaging and easy to follow. There’s repetition that made the story easy to follow for the kids. We loved the story as a whole, and we had the most fun with the images that looked like a dragon but ended up being something else. Additionally, the illustrations in this book are amazing. They’re vibrant, full of movement, and make it easy to tell what is happening in the story. I can’t recommend this children’s book enough.
Don't Disturb the Dragon is a beautifully written and illustrated book for young readers and their parents. In this book, a young girl and his baby brother are involved in an epic adventure and as the title suggests it involves a dragon!
Will the young heroes succeed in their quest? Will they encounter the dragon? And if yes, what will happen to our young heroes when they face the dragon? You must read this awesome adventure story to know the answers. The book will appeal to all those young ones with bright imaginations and a thirst for stories and adventures. I enjoyed reading it and would highly recommend it..
