Rachel was born and trained to be a Chaser. Her parents are dead, her younger sister is a supernatural, and her brother is going to hate her for Turning. Alex is a vampire working with The General. After Rachel was turned, The General ordered Alex to keep an eye on Rachel. Before he knew it, he was head of heels in love with her. She is a warrior and his equal, but could she really love him if she knew everything about him.

The book has a fast pace, the characters are somewhat developed, and it is written in first person point of view from different perspectives. This is the second book in the Unholy Alliance trilogy. I did not read the first book and was able to follow along but I would have liked it more if I knew more of the backstory. If you like vampires with lots of fight scenes, you will enjoy this book.

I don't know what gives me the ick factor in this, exactly, but I'm definitely not into this story. It wasn't bad, but it just feels like another edgy teen romance with dubious intentions.

3.5 stars

This book mostly focuses on Rachel and Alex, but we do get POVs from Maggie, Shane, Lily and a new member, Genevieve.

If you read the Alliance, you know how reckless as well as hardhead Rachel is and unfortunately in this book that didn’t change; unfortunately, she is even more reckless. As for Alex, for most of the book I didn’t know how to feel about him because he was a “bad” guy, but he’s different with Rachel. I don’t agree with Rachel’s decisions and not contacting her family at all, but I am looking forward to what happens next.

I wasn’t sure about the Maggie and Shane portion, but not sure what was the point; Shane was a major buttmole to Maggie.

I’m assuming we get more info on Josh and Genevieve in the next book.

Maybe some more Lily and Caleb in our future?

And perhaps more interaction with Alex’s friends: Chad, Zack and Andi.

I can’t wait to see what is next for the group :)
