Sunlight was an emotional and tender read. As with most Devney Perry books, this felt warm and honest. This is definitely a perfect read if you’re in the mood for something healing and heartfelt.
This book leans into grief, guilt, and the slow process of learning to live again. The tension and softness between Sasha and Jax was a perfect balance. While Sasha is grumpy and guarded, Jax is a sunshine cowboy. They clash at times, but slowly grow together. Both characters have so much going on beneath the surface and it was beautiful seeing how their connection unfolded.
Overall I really enjoyed this story and would recommend it for anyone wanting an emotional read that is more about the feeling than the action. Devney Perry has a way with writing cowboy romances that hit you in the feels and this was such a gift.

This is a bit of a slow burn but worth it in the end. Accidental pregnancy, twists and turns that you can only speculate about until the end, small town, ranch life - what doesn’t this book have. So if you’re in the mood to snuggle up with a blanket and a book, this is a great one to do it with.

dnf @ 40%. this book wasn't for me, and i could tell from the start. however, i have loved devney's previous works, but this one just wasn't it. i knew it was a surprise pregnancy trope going into it, and i still couldn't bring myself to enjoy the characters.

I know I keep saying it, but it needs to be said: I’d read literally anything Devney Perry writes. I really enjoyed the first book in this series, so I was thrilled to get an ARC of book two! This is Jax (West’s younger brother) and Sasha’s story. The surprise pregnancy trope used to be my least favorite, but it’s books like this one that have changed my mind! I really liked that the majority of this book took place throughout Sasha’s pregnancy, so you got to see their relationship develop as they got closer to parenthood. Jax was such a simp, and I was eating it up! He was so thoughtful and determined to break down Sasha’s walls. I would highly recommend this book!

Sunlight by Devney Perry,
Absolutely freaking loved it! Ok first I had all these ideas of who Eddie was and why Sasha was writing to him bit was I wrong. It was heartbreaking nonetheless when you know the whole truth of who he is and why she is in Montana. I wanted to get into the pages box the book and hug Sasha so many times and just give her some love. She lost her parents and now she was in a new place where she felt out of place and the only person who only made her feel safe she felt she couldn’t be with. I loved that Jax didn’t give up he kept pushing her boundaries and showed her he was there for her. They needed each other and I loved that they found each other. My heart breaks for Jax with the whole Lilly situation but I wish we had gotten a better understanding of that and they would have ended up better than they did. I mean it was an improvement but I think I wanted so much more. Simply try is es such a great book I absolutely loved it and I definitely recommend it.

I don’t want to write in to much detail because I don’t want to include any spoilers but simply put - I loved this book.

I have read and enjoyed Devneys work over the last couple years and honestly I always have a good time.
I couldn’t put this book down, the mystery and sub plot of this book had me hooked - WHO? WHY? WTF? 😆

Sasha was hardworking but even harder on herself. Self sabotaging and holding a lot on her little shoulders so Jax coming along to show her she could have more, she is deserving and that he will worship her was just what the doctor ordered.

Also.. who doesn’t love a hot guy in a cowboy hat? 🤠

Just to add I cried. Is that a shock? No I’m a deeply emotional person and tears of sadness, joy and laughter are a usual occurrence!

“I’d missed her. Sasha and I were practically strangers, yet I missed her. That was weird right? What did that even mean?” 🫶🏼

“My Josephine” 🥺

“It shouldn’t have worked. He shouldn’t be able to command an orgasm with a single order” 💦

“For the first time in my life, I considered a tuck-and-roll exit” 🛻

“It was the hat. It had been that cowboy hat” 🤠

If you’re a fan of a small town, forced proximity, cowboy, workplace, surprise pregnancy romances - this one’s a winner!
I do recommend reading Crossroads first - it’s interconnected so the characters from that book pop up in this one!

Sunlight was such an amazing read! Jax and Sasha’s relationship was incredible. I loved watching it grow and see them fall in love. The way the pregnancy trope was portrayed was perfect. Jax’s in the definition of an incredible book boyfriend. There was angst, banter, and love. I loved how Jax cared for Sasha and how they shared truths and told each other “lies”. Jax truly stepped up and was the man Sasha deserved. Devney Perry did it again with this fantastic story.

Jax and Sasha’s love story was everything I could ever want. Devney Perry has made me want to live in Montana, I n a ranch and find my own cowboy!

Jax has never taken life too seriously, he isn’t looking for commitment but that changes when he meets Sasha. I loved how he had to try and keep trying even to get a little bit of her attention.

Sasha needs her job, she has things going on in the back ground that we slowly find out about. Her life hasn’t been easy and she is trying her best to stay afloat.

This book was perfect for me and it’s one I will read again and again. I highly recommend reading it, I hope you fall in love with their story too.

SO MANY THANKS to Devney and NetGalley for the access to an early copy of this.

This story picks up many years after the conclusion of book 1; Haven River Ranch is years into its revitalization and Jax, the younger Haven son, has fallen into a routine with his life on the ranch. He's known around town for being a relationship tumbleweed but with the way we get to know him through his point of view, we see its more complicated than him being a playboy with a fear of commitment. The story we experience shows us that his past has dug deep claws into his sense of self and while he is charming, incredibly attractive, and deservedly confident, he also harbors hurts and bruises that he doesn't show the world.

Sasha, our FMC, is a bit of a tumbleweed herself - but her story is much more mysterious. What I think goes strongly for this story, as was very much the case with the first, is that we get first person narration for our characters but there is still something we do not know about their lives. For Sasha, she needs to keep this job and she needs to live a life of frugality to ensure that her money is going to the most important part of her life - WHICH WE DO NOT KNOW ABOUT?!

The way these two characters dance around each other, with one of them constantly working to wiggle into the cracks of the other's walls, was engaging and filled with delicious tension. The intensity of their chemistry starts on page 1 and only builds throughout the course of the story. Tropes can be found on the author's website for those looking to get a better idea of what to expect but trust me when I say that you'll enjoy the surprises you get (and the mystery that unravels) as you get more puzzle pieces for both Sasha and Jax.

If you like:
- relating to a city girl in horse ranch country with 0 expectations of ever finding love for her surroundings
- the real nitty-gritty drama and complications of life in a small town where you not only know everyone but you share history with several of them, too
- when characters from the previous book spend more time in the storyline than passing mentions
- an examination of the complexity of love, heartache, forgiveness, and regret in all stages of a person's life..
.. you're going to enjoy this story. This is more than your standard cowboy, small town romance - it digs deeper into your emotions but leaves you feeling content and fulfilled.

Everytime I read a Devney book I just know that it’s going to make its way on the list of my favorite books of all time. Sunlight is no different. Devney’s writing in this book is captivating, creative and tear jerking. I was so hooked from the very first chapter with all the hidden mystery behind Sasha and her background.

Jax and Sasha were EVERYTHING. After Crossroads, I wondered what could equal / top my love for Indya and West but oh boy did Jax and Sasha deliver. The way that Jax is such a giver and is so caring and loving to those around him is top book boyfriend material worthy… the way he treats Sasha?? SWOONNN. These two were BEYOND perfect and a pair I did not want to stop reading about. This mixed in with the little glimpses into the old characters I loved from Crossroads and it was a recipe for perfection.

The writing, characters, plot and twists were everything I’d hoped for and more. I stand by the fact that Devney Perry can do no wrong. She’s always my insta read author and I will recommend her to anyone that will listen (again, again and AGAIN). Devney + team, thank you so much for the arc copy. I hope my review gives justice to how incredibly amazing this book is <3

I always get excited when a new Devney Perry book hits my Kindle because I know I'm about to get lost in an incredible story...and Sunlight did not disappoint. Jax and Sasha's story pulled me in right from the start and I could not put their story down. So much emotion in this one, from both characters...and my heart hurt for both Jax and Sasha when some things were revealed, but there was so much love and forgiveness that happened, which was truly needed for everyone.

Highly recommend this one!

- Forced Proximity
- Small Town

Devney knows how to write this trope with the utmost perfection ❤️ Although there is not anything Devney writes that isn't perfect (yes, I am a total fan girl 😆)

Jax and Sasha were such a cute couple! I loved Jax because he was such a playboy in Crossroads, but he is completely changed in Sunlight. Some might even say...swoon worthy 😍 Loved him so much. Their banter is top tier and the tension....was tensioning. Also, the hidden story of who Eddie is, had me foaming at the mouth!! Loved this book so much!!

I read this in one sitting and can't to re-read with the audio!

ARC Review-Releases 10/14

Jax and Sasha don’t understand each other so they don’t tolerate each other well which makes working together a challenge. Sasha comes off as cold and Jax has a history of just being in it for a good time. When they find out Sasha’s pregnant, they begin to see each other differently.

“Tell me a lie” “It was terrible and you’ll hate it”. Please know that this story was perfect. I haven’t felt this way about a Devney story since Juniper Hill. There’s something magical about Sunlight. This will forever stay with you.

Jax and Sasha. Both are flawed and hurt from their past. Sasha’s early POV chapters you can feel her sorrow. Right from the start you feel Jax love. He is absolutely gone for Sasha. I will never get over these two.

Another great small town romance by Devney Perry. Jax and Sasha’s instant attraction, and the lead up to when they finally connect… so well done. Jax is sweet and so caring. He just wants to take care of Sasha. While she is a bit closed off, Sasha sees she is deserving of love and affection. If you’re a fan of accidental pregnancy, this is definitely a must read.

My love for this series knows no bounds.

I was so excited for Jax's book after finishing Crossroads and I can officially say I love him even more now than I did before. There's something about his easy going, carefree attitude that just endears him to me. You can't not love him. It's impossible. He had me laughing out loud so many times while I was reading. I'd even go as far as to say Jax is the entire reason why I enjoyed this one as much as I did.

Accidental pregnancy is actually one of my favorite tropes so I was beside myself when it was revealed that it would be the premise for Sunlight. On that end it definitely didn't disappoint. I felt like their initial reactions to the news was very realistic and believable. I appreciated how Perry allowed both main characters to process the situation however they needed to, messy moments and mistakes included. I love seeing the growth between that initial moment and the final chapter.

I will say I felt like the sex of their baby was easy to assume earlier than I would've liked, because I love the anticipation of finding out alongside the characters with no idea what the answer will be, but at the same time the reason I was able to guess/assume so quickly made sense for Sasha's story.

Admittedly she was the one I struggled with a bit. By the end I'd been won over to her side, but throughout the book I felt as if I liked her but I didn't love her as much as I wanted to. That said... I think part of this is because Devney Perry really stayed true to her character, her history, her insecurities, her beliefs. I can acknowledge that I don't think it would've made sense, given who Sasha is and what she's experienced, if she'd come around and stopped fighting that voice in her head sooner.

All in all this was a 4.5 star read for me. I really enjoyed it overall, couldn't put it down, and appreciated some of the deeper, heavier topics it explored beyond the romance plot. Jax broke my freaking heart more than once recalling his past and how the events have affected him. I cried for him, then cried again when some of those pieces began to shift more toward something hopeful. I also really enjoyed the mystery of Eddie throughout the book. It gave me a similar feeling to Indya's voicemails to her dad in book one. Aside from the obvious crossover and cameos of characters I felt like it really added a nice sense of continuity and familiarity across the series.

Thank you so much to the author and Valentine PR for gifting me an early copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. I loved it and can't wait to see what comes next in this series!

Sunlight is a shining example of just why Devney Perry is my number one automatic 1-click author!
No one does small town romance better and this book has ALL my favorite tropes all wrapped up in one book that warmed every corner of my heart. We have small town, surprise pregnancy, cowboy and workplace romance! Jax and Sasha are dynamite together and Devney Perry wrote one of her most touching books to date.

Book 2 in the Haven River Ranch series is live! When the tropes for this book dropped you better believe I was jumping up and down. Accidental pregnancy? It’s ALWAYS gonna hit for me and that was no different here. From the very first moment Jax and Sasha met, you could feel the sparks and tension. I also can’t resist a little bit of forbidden thrown into books and with Sasha being an employee at the ranch, it added the perfect pinch of “stay away from her.” Which of course he didn’t 🙂‍↕️ Coming back to this world was everything I hoped it would be! I absolutely devoured this one.

The audiobook is narrated by Ava Erickson and Stephen Dexter and they absolutely knocked it out of the park. Definitely recommend checking it out!

I loved jax and sasha! their story was one that I wish I could read again for the first time! a small town, accidental pregnancy cowboy romance where he’s her boss and sprinkle in some forced proximity and workplace romance - tell me this isn’t just the perfect romance read!

jax is the ultimate book boyfriend! the way he was with sasha was pure perfection, he was so affectionate and there for her!

I loved that jax was there for sasha and their baby, the way he calls her my josephine before she was even born was something else entirely!

I loved that even though sasha tried to push jax away he didn’t let her and was there every step of the way! their relationship was a bit of a rollercoaster but they get their happy ever after

This book was fantastic as are all Devney Perry books! Sunlight is the second book in the Haven River Ranch series. This is a secret crush on your sort of boss that leads to a one night stand and an accidental pregnancy book. It follows the story of Jax and Sasha, he’s one of the owners of Haven River Ranch and she’s a ranch hand that’s trying to avoid life’s distractions. But watching them fall in love while navigating past traumas and growing together was chef’s kiss!
