Enjoyed Blythe and Briggs story. The dialogue was great. I enjoyed that Blythe wanted to start a business. .

Witty In Pink is a regency slow burn with Bridgerton vibes with less questionable men and stronger-willed women (sorry, Quinn, but all your men have some disturbing anger issues I cannot get behind).
It is a fun, light read with likeable characters and a nice storyline.
Blythe and Brigg's conflict is reasonable in a way that helps me understand both sides of the story and be rooting for the characters to reconnect without playing favourites.
If you're looking to get into regency romance and don't know where to start, I'd say this is a good option for you. It plunges you directly into the ambience of these sort of books, but with the vibes of a modern romance one. It's a fast read, with likeable characters and enjoyable banter.

ARC Book Review: *Witty in Pink* by Erica George
Rating: 5/5

Erica George’s *Witty in Pink* is a delightful and witty romance that brilliantly combines humor, charm, and a dash of social intrigue. This novel is a thoroughly enjoyable read that will captivate readers from the very first page.

The story revolves around the spirited protagonist, whose life is thrown into turmoil when her archnemesis, Briggs Goswick, reappears. Briggs is the quintessential charming rogue, whose presence is as infuriating as it is intriguing. Their dynamic is electric, filled with sharp banter, sizzling chemistry, and a complex history that adds depth to their interactions.

What makes *Witty in Pink* stand out is its fresh and engaging premise. Both protagonists are faced with the daunting task of saving their families from financial ruin, leading to an unlikely alliance. The stakes are high, and their plan to help each other navigate the treacherous waters of high society is as entertaining as it is risky.

The protagonist’s determination to save her family through a business venture is both admirable and relatable. Her resilience and ingenuity make her a compelling character. On the other hand, Briggs’s hidden vulnerability and the revelation of his own financial troubles add layers to his character, making him more than just the charming nemesis.

The plot is filled with clever twists and turns, keeping readers hooked as the characters navigate balls, suitors, and their growing attraction. The pacing is perfect, balancing moments of tension with light-hearted, humorous scenes. Erica George’s writing is crisp and engaging, with witty dialogue that perfectly captures the spirit of the story.

The romance between the protagonist and Briggs is a slow burn, filled with delicious tension and moments of genuine connection. Their journey from enemies to reluctant allies to something more is beautifully developed, making their eventual union all the more satisfying.

In addition to the romance, *Witty in Pink* also explores themes of duty, family, and the courage to defy societal expectations. The protagonist’s struggle to forge her own path in a world that expects her to conform is both poignant and empowering.

*Overall, Witty in Pink* is a charming and witty romance that will leave readers smiling and rooting for the protagonists. Erica George has crafted a story that is both heartwarming and entertaining, making it a must-read for fans of romantic comedies and historical romance.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a delightful and engaging read with a perfect blend of humor, romance, and social intrigue.

Blythe's relationship with Briggs has always been contentious - a humiliating prank leaving them at odds for years. When Blythe is forced to spend the season in town, all she wants to do is promote her apiary business. Briggs offers to help her meet investors if she can help him woo Miss Dixon and secure the dowry that will save his home. If only they can fight their mutual attraction long enough to get results.

Period romance for teens at its finest - both characters were funny, flawed and obvious to their feelings for one another. It was just a happy book to read.

This book had me hooked from the start!

“Witty in Pink” revolves around Blythe and Briggs, who can't stand each other but are forced to team up (and it is so much fun when they do!)

Briggs, the charming AND annoying “playboy” of this generation, returns after years and reveals he's broke. Blythe also needs to save her family, leading to an unlikely alliance - I mean they started off hating each other?!

I loved the banter between the two main characters. Their witty exchanges were hilarious and kept me entertained and swooning!

The historical setting added a NICE touch, making the high society pressures feel real. Blythe refuses to marry just anyone and instead focuses on a business venture to save her family. This is SO rare and fun to see in this time!

The plot is engaging, mixing romance, humor, and personal growth perfectly. The dynamic between the characters is top tier, with their interactions full of tension and chemistry.

This book is a fun escape into a world of love, rivalry, and ambition.

Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Publishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

A charming love story that sparkles with wit and warmth on every page. The banter was a delight, the characters so endearing, and the prose perfect. WITTY IN PINK is funny and entertaining--the buzzing romance we all need this summer!

It's a truth universally acknowledged that... Witty in Pink is a charming romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading! I found myself strolling in the shade on sprawling country estates and dancing coyly at high-society balls in Regency-era England. The best treat was the chemistry and developing relationship between childhood frenemies, Blythe and Briggs.

The characters and their interactions drive the story, and they all captured my heart! Blythe is known for her sharp wit and independent spirit. She finds herself torn between marrying well to ensure her family's financial security and defying societal norms to own her own apiary business. On the other hand, Briggs presents himself as an over-confident flirt, but the reader soon finds his hidden vulnerabilities and a shameful family secret. However, these flaws make him endearing as he grapples with the expectations of him in his new role as the head of his family.

As Blythe and Briggs increasingly find themselves moving in the same social circles, their relationship evolves from spirited banter and misunderstandings to a true romance where both grow to appreciate the other’s strengths, flaws, and feelings. Unfortunately, they must try their best to resolve the many hurdles, challenges, and plot twists that pull them apart.

I love how Erica George draws on the craft of Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte. She captivates readers with a beautifully woven story that has both light-hearted romance and emotional depth. Witty in Pink was a delightful read, so much so that I hope there’s a sequel in the future!

This book was so entertaining from start to finish. The banter between the main characters was so fun to read and I loved how they genuinely went from being enemies to friends. I was actually surprised at how much I enjoyed this book and now I want to look for other similar books. Blythe is such a refreshing character she's a very kind person but knows her worth. Unlike other young ladies around her she wants something more for herself. She does not want to just marry for convenience even though it would surely help her family if she decided to marry a wealthy suitor. Another thing that was nice to see was LGBTQ+ representation and how supportive our main characters were of them.

Thank you to Entangled for the ARC!

Two childhood rivals, a summer bargain and a love of bees.

Blythe is determined to get her honeybee business up and running in a world where women must rely on men for survival.

Biggs must find a way to secure funds to protect his family from the damage his father caused. Will his plan be enough to save them all from ruin? If only he could tell Blythe the real reason he's so determined to fix the trail of destruction.

Assumptions, secrets, and a proposal make this a fun story of salvation.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC! I was so excited to read it after binging the latest season of Bridgerton!
I wish something like this had been around when I was first getting into reading romance as a teen, I would have loved it and it might’ve sparked my interest in historical romance much earlier. This is a great entry point with enough of the genre to fit in well while still being approachable. A fun plot, characters, and details. Great job!

In the beginning, it was quite difficult for me to really get into the book because the language used was the typical old regency type. But still, I loved the banter between Briggs & Blythe. I enjoyed seeing them together and the slow burn was good but I would've loved it if they got together sooner than they did tbh. I liked how focused and serious Blythe was about her career and Brigg's character development was good too. But I think I had developed huge expectations from this book and it somehow fell flat. The first few chapters had a very slow pacing too, but I enjoyed reading the last half. Overall, it was a very fun, ligh -hearted and fast story but I think the romance should've been developed a bit more because the chemistry between Blythe & Briggs was definitely charming.

I received an ARC from Netgalley in exchange of an honest review

Something about this fell ever so slightly flat for me unfortunately; but this book has some fantastic reviews so it’s definitely just a personal disconnect!! I liked it well enough but I just wasn’t enamoured with it - my attention wandered, I didn’t really think about what was coming next while I wasn’t reading, and I wasn’t overly invested in any particular character (though I do have an affection for Blythe and her bees). The language is very easy to follow and this would be a great entry point to historical fiction/e x t r e m e l y slow burn regency romance for younger readers.

I love this book so much! It is a refreshing take on the Regency romance that’s sure to delight. Erica George brings us Blythe Rowley, a heroine with a plan to save her family and Briggs Goswick, the society gentleman who’s more than he seems. Their sparks fly in a tale of unexpected partnership and romantic sparks. I had to laugh out loud "Well, pluck my feathers and shove me in the oven,".

This book stands out for its lively characters and a heroine who’s ahead of her time. It’s a quick, enjoyable read that blends classic romance with modern wit. Perfect for fans of lighthearted historical romances, “Witty in Pink” is a charming story that proves love and laughter go hand in hand.

Highly recommended!!

Witty in Pink is a fun historical romance about two enemies that join together. I enjoyed the characters and setting, however the bee business had me a bit confused as far as careers she could have pursued. I would still recommend this as it is written well and is great for all the Bridgerton fans waiting for the next season.

What an absolute treat of a read! Erica George gives us all the delight of a regency romance, but with a pitch-perfect dash of contemporary sensibility. The enemies-to-lovers narrative is a joy, the dialogue sparkles, the nineteenth century comes to life on the page, and both Blythe and Briggs are swoon-worthy. So many scenes left my heart all aflutter. WITTY IN PINK is a total charmer.

Based on the summary, I was excited to start this book. However, I could not make myself sit down to read it. I loved the fact that she was so into bee keeping but it wasnt enough.

Witty in Pink is a fun and cute historical fiction with an enemies to lovers trope. Briggs and Blythe's relationship really evolved as the story progressed and that was fun to see. I loved how independent Blythe was especially in that time of history. Many women weren't. This story defiantly has Bridgerton vibes, so if that is something you really enjoy, you will love Witty in Pink. We have humor, pranks, enemies, and then lovers. Perfect for a happy ending!
