Horror - creepy, insidious, sinister, cloying- is it a witch? a possession? or some kind of gift? Horror of the human kind hiding behind superstition, but what else is there in the dark? For those that like their horror scary and eerie, this one is for you - just don't read it in the dark, just sayin ...

Wow, wow, wow!! Now this is how horror is done! If you’re a lover of horror or thriller books, Something in the Walls is right up your alley! It would make the perfect movie or television show as well!
Firstly, the prose— while it is very detailed and descriptive; painting a picture of all things creepy, spooky, or witchy, it is also haunting. I felt as if I were right there alongside the characters of the small town. It also stuck with me for hours after I put my phone down… absolutely chilling, but I love it!
I also loved the character development— mainly from seemingly normal individuals, to those plagued by nightmares and lack of sleep to the point of questioning themselves and their reality. I believe this is what makes such great horror books. This was truly such a captivating read, and if I could give it more than 5 stars, I certainly would!

The conjuring meets Midsommar..this was creepy the whole time. Like on EDGE. The ending was wild, but tbh I was wanting a bit more witchiness?? Also I wanted much much more detail in the lore and the ending/twist. Overall not a bad read

I absolutely loved this book! It was subtlety creepy and addictive. If you love the Conjuring, you will love this book. Daisy Pearce's writing is so easy to jump into, and I found myself never wanting to put this book down. The author was very descriptive and created an atmospheric and gothic setting. I felt like I was living in the same time as Mina. The book was somehow calm and tense at the same time. What great writing!

Such a creepy story!

Pearce can get to the secret fears in your heart! In Something in the Walls, the young child psychologist Mina is asked to meet with Alice Webber. It's a strange scenario where she has met a a journalist in a grief group who puts her in contact with the teen who seems to think she is haunted by a witch. Her expertise could give him the story of his life and giver her some needed experience.

Very quickly however, Alice's symptoms accelerate and the story becomes an incredible nail biter!

very spooky, very eery, very tense.

I absolutely could not read this in the dark, but it was very captivating from the very beginning. I wanted to skip to the end just to know what happens. I had a few days to think about what I read and I'm still a bit confused. There were a few plot holes that haven't been explained, but as things were tied together in the end it was shocking. I'm still in shock weeks later.

It was interesting to see all of the characters slowly losing their minds. A newly graduated psychologist(Mina) and a journalist(Sam) are drawn to a small town with whisperings of witches and a young girl(Alice) being haunted by one. Their grief and curiosity is what peaks their interest, to see if this young girl really is being haunted by the dead. As they question the family and a few townspeople, Mina (the psychologist) believes that everyone is feeding into the delusions to get something out of it. The more time she spends with this family, the more she starts to unravel the truth about what's really going on.

This book kept me on my toes. It took me a lot longer to read because I was not brave enough to read it in the dark when everyone goes to bed. I started hearing knocking sounds in my walls and thought, "Oh no, Satan. Not today!" Haha. It's crazy how the mind plays tricks on you when you're vulnerable and scared. And that's exactly what this book is about.

This book was phenomenal! It had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see what was going to happen next. As a huge fan of horror its not often a book actually gives me that true authentic horror feeling, but this one did! I found myself having to put it down one night as i was laying in the dark because it was giving me the spooks in the best of ways! If you are a true horror movie/paranormal/witchy vibes fan you will adore this book. When i tell you it was so well done and just- *chef’s kiss*. Probably one of the top books ive read in the last few months when it comes to horror/thriller/paranormal. 5/5 hands down!

This was a very interesting book. If you are into ghost stories, this is definitely one for you. It’s not my favorite type of books and that’s the only reason I’m giving this one a three star. It’s definitely a good read if that’s more your style!
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!!

Another five star book!
This book is really an engaging, bone chilling, nail biting one with the promise of keeping you on the edge of your seat. Actually I had a nightmare like for two days after reading this.

In 1989, Mina Ellis is grieving the loss of her brother Eddie who died six years ago. She’s attending group grief support due to this and she meets a journalist called Sam. Instantly the two bond over their grief. Discovering that Mina is new psychologist, he extends an offer for her to gain some experience.

In the town of Banathel, a town famous for its folklore and myths, a teenaged Alice Webber is hearing voices and claiming that there is a witch in her family’s chimney spying on her. Alice is a seemingly troubled child who recently got kicked out of school and has all the community convinced she is either possessed or touched with the ability to see and speak to the dead.

Sam and Mina are tasked with the job of finding out what is going on behind the scenes, what is causing these symptoms and how much is true or false.

This story is appropriately and deliciously creepy and while reading this I’ve came to know some things about psychology. I enjoyed the small town atmosphere though I couldn’t help but feel like the characters need more depth.

I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
3.5 stars
I wanted to read a few spooky books for fall, and this one delivered in terms of atmosphere, fell short in terms of plot. The author does a great job of setting the tone of this book- you can practically feel the stifling, creeping tension coming from the words. Excellent use of prose to develop the setting. However, the plot itself, especially in the middle just didn’t give me that “I can’t put it down feeling”, and at times the characters actions made literally no sense. I did enjoy the ending, it gave me midsommer vibes, but there were still a lot of unresolved threads and questions I had.

Rounded up from 2.5 to 3 stars. I’d like to thank netgalley and the publisher for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review. The premise of this sounded really interesting but unfortunately I struggled with it and it took me longer to finish it than I thought it would. The ending was what saved it for me.

. I found great pleasure in reading this book. It encompassed all the elements that I appreciate in literature. The narrative was filled with suspense and incorporated paranormal themes. Certain sections were undeniably eerie, leading me to advise against reading them at night. The characters were both compelling and relatable. Overall, it was an enjoyable read, and I highly recommend it.

Wow. Wow. Wow. If you’re looking for a good creepy, witchy feel book. Here ya go. I spent the majority of this book yelling at Mina that she was stupid. I mean come on, the proof is in the pudding baby. And there was so much pudding. This book pulled on my heart strings as the characters (Mina, Sam and Alice) truly went through so much. I was for sure that this book would end in a certain way, I wasn’t let down, I was left flabbergasted. So much happened by the end of this book that I ended up having to reread parts, because what? How? Excuse me? To say I loved this book is an understatement.

This book was pretty good. It was the good creepy thriller I was looking for.

I do feel like some of the characters were a little too two dimensional and I wasn’t the biggest fan of the end.

With that said if you are looking for a good read over the Halloween season this is a great pickup!
