I really enjoyed this book! I thought it was pretty relatable and the drama wasn't TOO too over the top. Typically I'm not a fan of books with kids, but they were pretty integral to the story and I found I didn't mind them as much. The angst and grief described was also quite realistic.
Overall I do recommend and would love to read more from this author!

Let’s call a truce
Juliana is a widowed mother of two who restarts her career. She feels an instant attraction to her coworker Ben that quickly flips to barely contained animosity. After two years of slinging barbed comments, Juliana has to come to terms with the fact that the line between love and hate has blurred between the two of them.
Ben lets his intentions be known throughout the book. He wants to be with Juliana and pushes her to recognize their chemistry and compatibility.
There is something to be said about reading a book that feels like adults are acting like an adults. Both Juliana and Ben worry about what their kids and coworkers will think. They approach their relationship with maturity by talking through their fears and realizing that they can be brave together.
This is a stellar debut. The banter is top notch, the spice feels intimate, and you root for the two characters from start to finish. I can’t wait to read more of Amy’s work.

This book was a cute enemies-to-lovers romance with lots of heart and steam! Juliana was a compelling FMC. She’s a widowed single mom of two little girls making her way in the corporate world while struggling with a growing attraction to her work nemesis. I thought the push and pull of Ben and Juliana’s attraction felt realistic, even though I was surprised at some of Juliana’s behavior given she works in HR. While Ben and Juliana had great banter, the dialogue with other characters was a little stilted and too expositional. But I’ll chalk that up to this being a debut.
I’m looking forward to whatever Amy Buchanan writes next!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC, which was provided in exchange for an honest review.

This was cute! I did struggle with the FMC a bit when she was so back and forth with the MMC but I did really love their story. I think it showed the reality of losing a husband and the grief that comes in waves. I thought both characters were really well suited for each other and their love felt genuine.

Fans of second chance romances need to read Let’s Call a Truce. It’s a must read book that will make you feel like you’re in love!

I really enjoyed this story! I loved the character development throughout and it touched on some important topics that happen in todays society. It talks about spouse loss, being a single parent and the struggle of over coming trauma to love again. Even with those topics the story itself still was funny and the banter between the two main characters were my favorite! I honestly kept reading for the banter alone. But there are plenty of sexy scenes along the way! This is definitely an author that I would read from again! Highly recommend this story.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for a digital ARC of Let's Call a Truce.
I rated this 4, but I think I'm more along the lines of 3.5. I enjoyed the writing, and enemies to lovers is my favorite trope so I loved the banter between them. I loved Ben's character. Juliana was fine, too, maybe a little annoying at times with the back and forth. The third act "break up" was well done and left my heart hurting for both of them, but also angry at the same time. This was a great debut, and I would definitely read more from the author. The reason for 3.5 and not 4 is because I felt it was a little long for what it was, like the same issues back and forth, but it didn't bother me too much.
PSA: Very spicy!

I adored this debut romance! The office rivals-to-lovers plot was so well done, and I adored how nuanced both Ben and Juliana were. The story encompassed more than just their relationship; it also encompassed their relationships with their friends, their children, and their past romantic relationships. The book discusses some heavier topics, but the author handles them very well. I liked reading about Juliana's relationship with her children, and I loved the dynamic between Asia and Juliana, as well as Ben and Asia. The romance in this was absolutely stellar; the dynamic between Ben and Juliana was great, and there was a lot of tension between them. While there was a third-act break-up in this (as many romances have), I found that the reason for this one actually made sense, which was refreshing! Overall, I would completely recommend this book, and it's definitely a new favourite romance book of mine. I can't wait to see what Amy Buchanan writes next!

As a teacher, I always love reading work enemies (because it never happens with the little people I spend my days with!) So, I was quite entertained by Ben and Juliana (who at times was definitely annoying) Their chemistry and banter was enjoyable to read along with. I love that the MC was a single mom and I love how endearing Ben was.

A fun workplace enemies to lovers read, this book was intriguing! Some of the writing fell flat but the banter and chemistry were prominent. Juliana kind of annoyed me in some places but she redeemed herself.

Ah! Work place enermies is just the best!! The tension between these two main characters was addicting to read. I just wanted them to keep fighting and have Ben flirt back. Ben and Juliana have amazing chemistry. The club scene was everything! I love how they couldn’t stay away from one another.
Such a fun read! I can’t wait to see what is next for this author!

This will be someone's favorite book, but it fell flat for me with the writing and was difficult to get through. Pretty enjoyable characters but ultimately underwhelming because of the prose.

The story opens with newly widowed Juliana Ryan returning to work after several years as a stay-at-home mom to her two daughters. She's nervous about being back in the office while juggling her new responsibilities as a single mom. When she has to leave the office early for an issue at her kid's school, she overhears Ben badmouthing her to a colleague and decides he is the absolute worst. Thus their office rivalry is born. After two years of sarcastic banter, Ben and Juliana are put together to work on a new project. The more Juliana learns about Ben, she realizes that there is more to her feelings than what she thought.
I really enjoyed the story and the dynamics between Juliana and Ben. I love when the hero is totally gone for the heroine early and then he totally just screws up - just epically makes the worst decision ever. But it makes the resolution that much more satisfying.

If you're looking for a book with an enemies-to-lovers storyline, witty banter, and lots of chemistry -- this is the book for you! "Let's Call a Truce" is the first book written by Amy Buchanan, but it won't be the last! It centers around Juliana, a single mom who is struggling just to survive after the sudden passing of her husband. After some time has passed, she's determined to provide for her kids and re-enter the workforce. On her first day at her new job, she runs into (literally!) the man who will become her archenemy: Ben. Over the years, Ben and Juliana argue, bicker, and fight while trying to ignore their growing feelings for each other. And once Juliana realizes there's so much more to Ben than she originally realized, she doesn't have any reasons to fight her feelings anymore.
I appreciated that Buchanan covered some difficult topics, such as grief, loss, and divorce. I thought the two characters had great chemistry and I appreciate that they took things slowly and recognized the consequences of their actions. However, I didn't like the choices Ben made towards the end and was glad he quickly rectified them. I can't wait to read more books by Buchanan! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

I liked this one and thought that the love story was well-done. I just felt that the relationship between the characters was better written before they actually got together. It lost some of the anticipation and longing that they had before.

This was a very engaging read with a lot of different emotional elements that kept me reading. Julianna and Ben start off as enemies and he definitely falls first. A few of my favorite tropes! I have read a lot of single parent romances and the MMC is usually the single parent. It was nice to see that the FMC had kids and the MMC liked that about her. I would recommend this book for sure.

This book is for you if you love Enemy to Lovers where he's actually secretly simp-ing the whole time! Ben Thomas's obsession is adorable. It wasn't for me however, due to the extreme miscommunication issues this couple has to overcome. Juliana Ryan had blinders on for the whole book and I just kept wanting to scream at her to open her eyes and see the perfect specimen right in front of her.

As a parent going back to work for the first time in a really long time, I can relate to Juliana so much. The struggles she faces and tries to learn how to be a single parent and give her girls every part of her. My girls are the same age as Juliana’s girls and seeing them process grief was so hard but eye opening. The story between Juliana and Ben was so touching as they both worked to be the best parents they could, learn how to date again, and see the fine line of hate and love.

I absolutely did not expect this to be so emotional! It was an amazing representation of grief and the main characters were so sweet to each other.

This was adorable and such a great representation of grief and the complications that come with it. Highly recommended. Plus, the male main character? Loved.
