The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia is an exciting, fast paced, thrilling debut. This unputdownable book kept me on the edge of my seat from the start, and had me up reading late into the night. A huge Thank you to St. Martin’s Press, and the author for the advanced digital copy of the book via Netgalley.
Two women on one long flight, seated next one another on a plane. Stephanie is divorced, preoccupied with work, and oftentimes catching a flight for her job. Jasmine is an abused woman fleeing town hoping to start over. They don’t know each other, nor do they have anything in common. But their lives become completely entangled in ways that were quite shocking, and totally unexpected. When both woman vanish can the people in both their lives find them?
The Business Trip is an enthralling, tension-building story told from the perspective of multiple intriguing characters. The storyline has so many twist, and turns it’ll make your head spin, and you still won’t have it figured out. A gripping, suspenseful read with the most satisfying ending.

The Business Trip was an AWESOME read. The story begins as a slow burn that built up our characters and their respective worlds so well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading along as the POV switched and later, the timeline too. I found myself flying through the book so I could see what happens next. And the twist that the author brings, was PERFECTION.

Debut Thriller ? YES PLEASE
This book was WILD out the gate in Chapter ONE. Does have multiple POVs so you have to keep up. Jasmine & Stephanie are strangers on a flight for two totally different reasons but end up running into the same damn man named Trent & both of them go missing.
The first half was like a slow burn but once I got half way through the craziness did not stop. The ending had me gasping but I felt like she left us hanging ! I needed more especially for Jasmine.
The storytelling was well done and very twisty. I look forward to more books from Ms. Jessica
Thank you to St. Martins Press and NetGalley for this ARC

Started The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia without reading the synopsis (who needs instructions, right?). At first, I was intrigued, but then it hit me—I was basically reading the same plot twice, just from different POVs. It’s like watching the same movie but from another character’s camera angle. Cool in theory, but by the second round, I was just trying to cross the finish line.
Also, multiple POVs? Great in concept, chaotic in execution. I found myself flipping back to the chapter headers more times than I’d like to admit to figure out whose story I was in. (Pro tip for publishers: Put the character’s name on every page. Save us all the struggle.)
That said, it wasn’t a bad read! It had its moments, but I wasn’t exactly sad to see the last page. If you’re into tangled perspectives and don’t mind a little déjà vu, this might be your jam. Me? I’ll just stick to books that only make me question life, not who’s narrating.

The Business Trip was an addicting read with a truly unguessable ending. The structure of the book was incredibly unique and a huge part of the reason that I found it so twisty and fun.
The characters were believable (to a point) and I needed to finish the book to see what happened. However I do think the ending felt a little rushed and left a lot of loose ends for me. It was incredibly unbelievable and I think that is why this book went from a 4 to 3 star read for me personally. Jasmine was just so unlikeable and I of course didn’t want her to win but it didn’t justify the ending for me personally.
I think that people will enjoy this book overall but it was a little bit of a let down for myself

This was phenomenal. I cannot recommend it enough. I thought I had it all figured out, but I was so wrong. This book is suspenseful, twisty and absolutely gripping. Such a great read.
Two women board the same flight and sit together. Both women disappear, after sending a strange series of text messages.

This book is faced paced, full of twists and turns, and completely unputdownable-probably not a word but you know what I mean;) I went into this book knowing nothing about it, and holy cow! I was so glad this was the one I opened! I read it in one day and loved every minute of it! Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

Are you looking for a twisty, psychological thriller that will keep you guessing? Then you are going to want to read The Business Trip by author Jessica Garcia. Two strangers meet on a plane, text their friends and then go missing in this twisty debut.
During the winter months, I find I am drawn to thrillers. The idea of two strangers on a plane ending up missing pulled me in. Stephanie and Jasmine meet on a flight. Stephanie is going to a newsroom convention and Jasmine is fleeing an abusive relationship. The two have nothing in common, but both soon begin texting their friends and family the same messages about a man named Trent McCarthy before they both go missing.
The story is broken into parts and each had me hooked as we encountered twists and surprises. Some I never saw coming and others I suspected. In the first part, we meet both Stephanie and Jasmine. The second part is mostly from their friends, colleagues, and family. In the third, we get Trent McCarthy’s perspective. I am not divulging much, because I think it’s important that you discover things for yourself.
The story was well paced, and the suspense builds as we learn what is really happening. The thrill of wanting answers escalated, and nothing is as it appears. It’s the type of read that keeps you thinking about it. Just when you’ve figured it out, the author takes you by surprise. I will admit parts were over the top, but I am not mad. I enjoyed it from beginning to end.
The Business Trip was an engaging, twisty debut. I look forward to seeing what Jessie Garcia brings us next.

The Business Trip was an intriguing novel that kept me engaged throughout. The use of multiple POVs was unexpected, but it added a unique layer of depth to the story. While I typically find it challenging to focus on stories with numerous subplots, I approached this book with an open mind and was pleasantly surprised by the complexity it offered.
Although some subplots felt less essential to the main storyline, they contributed to building the world and expanding the narrative. The decision to structure the story as a multi-POV thriller was ambitious, and while it didn’t fully hit the mark for me, it still delivered an engaging reading experience.
Overall, the story was compelling, with moments that kept me guessing. While I anticipated some of the twists, the journey itself made the novel worth reading. This book would be a great choice for readers who enjoy multi-layered thrillers with intricate character dynamics.

meet on a plane. Stephanie’s going on a business trip and Jasmine is escaping from an abusive relationship. Both women then disappear while texting their friends about meeting a man named Trent McCarthy. What did Trent do to them, or what did they do him?
This is a debut popcorn thriller that has an interesting structure. It’s told from multiple POVs, including Trent’s. Unfortunately, this was just not for me. I started on audio and while I liked the multiple narrators some of the early voices grated on me so I switched to my kindle. I did enjoy it more this way. Once again here are just more characters I didn’t like and couldn’t care less what happened to them. The plot was too unbelievable and with too many convenient details. The why of it is just ridiculous and the final twist 🙄

The Business Trip is about two woman, Jasmine and Stephanie who meet on a plane. One is fleeing an abusive relationship and the other is on her way to a conference. They have nothing in common but then again, everything in common! After a few days they both text their friends the same messages about the same man, Trent McCarthy. Then both woman come up missing! So the story begins, who is Trent McCarthy, what did he do to these woman or what did these two woman do to Trent McCarthy!
This is a great debut novel by Jessie Garcia, it kept me on the edge of my seat, a thriller with lots of twists and turns. I highly recommend this 5 star book!
Many thanks to #NetGalley #StMartinsPress and #TheBusinessTrip for providing me an E-ARC of this fantastic 5 star thriller!

Fun and very clever psychological thriller! Well written. Great execution. Keeps you guessing. Well thought out.
Told from multiple POVs. Multiple unlikable characters. My jaw dropped quite a few times. Lies. Wrongful accusations. So many twists. Quick pacing. Vivid descriptions. Short chapters. I admit it was far fetched at times but it was a very entertaining read.
I thought I knew a couple twists but I was wrong. It was very unpredictable which I love!
4 stars!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑩𝑼𝑺𝑰𝑵𝑬𝑺𝑺 𝑻𝑹𝑰𝑷 𝒃𝒚 𝑱𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒊𝒆 𝑮𝒂𝒓𝒄𝒊𝒂 is a really fun, cleverly formatted suspense that I thoroughly enjoyed, especially paired with the spectacular, multi-cast narration in audio!
First, a huge thanks to @stmartinspress & @netgalley for early access to this exceptionally fun story that comes out on January 14th!
Jasmine is feeling an abusive relationship and Stephanie is heading out on a business trip for her network. These two women both go missing and their friends and coworkers are left trying to put the pieces together. And then who is this Trent guy who seems to be part of both stories?
I loved how the perspectives shifted all over the place! Sometimes this can be a bit much, but I thought it was done so well here and so easy to follow as the story progressed. This structure added a freshness that made it very enjoyable for me.
I appreciated how the story made me think a bit about how class distinctions and how it can affect people, which is becoming a bigger cultural issue. That said, this was mostly just incredibly entertaining which is just what I needed after some heavier reading! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

This was a decent enough thriller but predictable from the 3rd chapter and oftentimes unrealistic. Don’t get me wrong I don’t read my thrillers for 100% plausibility but I do want them to FEEL like they could happen in real life. I’m also mostly there for the drama. Trent is meant to be a complete jerk but it really worked for the story and I found his chapter hilarious. The final reveal was okay but not at all believable.

Groping for the right adjective to describe this book. Wacky? But not in a humorous way? The assumed-identity plot is pretty obvious from the beginning, and the path it takes is so off-kilter that I kept telling people about it. (So …. There’s that?) Then it gets very dark and sad, then turns into an escapade. And — twist! I might have come away feeling warmer to the whole thing if the author hadn’t deprived us of a satisfying ending. Reviewed in print and online in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on Jan. 12.

If you want a good thriller that is packed with suspense this one is for you. The story is told through multiple perspectives of different characters. Each chapter gets you closer and closer to the final understanding of everything. I could not put this one down and I found myself anxiously trying to figure out what happened. I did start to piece it together but not right away which I loved because it made the book so much more enjoyable. I also loved a final twist at the end which I truly did not see coming. I loved the unique storytelling through the multiple perspectives. The Business Trip is going to be a hit amongst readers seeking a thrill!

I was invested in this book from the start. The first half is more of a slow burn with lots of POVs - the second half picks up when everything starts unraveling. I thought the overall premise and structure was unique and sets this apart from other thrillers that have similar twists.
I didn’t love that in the second half the whole story was basically repeating but from Jasmine’s point of view. Her inner monologue was awful because she is such an unlikable character and not because of the authors writing. I thought the character development was great.
Overall, this was a fun time and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend the audio book as there is a fully cast for all the different POVs which added to the overall experience.

I really wanted to like this one more since the plot was very interesting but it started very slow and it was just too repetitive to keep my attention (seriously, multiple chapters talking about the same thing but with different POVS). After a while it did pick up but it got way too unbelievable and I just could not care about any of the characters.
3.5/5

Thank you to NetGalley for an advanced digital copy of this book.
Two women board a plane to Denver, but things don't go as planned. One woman is running away from an abusive boyfriend, while the other one is on her way to a convention of TV producers. But when friends and family get texts that the first woman has found someone at the convention and is going to Atlanta with him, it doesn't sound right. This woman NEVER does anything on the spur of the moment, and her next texts make even less sense to those who know her the best. The second woman seemingly disappears without a trace, which had been her plan.
Then the man in Atlanta is arrested for possibly murdering TWO women, and it all gets even stranger!! Who are these two women? Their suitcases, clothing, handbags, and other personal effects, and also some blood, are found in the man's back yard. Not buried very well, but buried. But the man insists he hasn't seen the first woman since she skipped out of several presentations, pleading a migraine. And he has NEVER seen the second woman.
We are treated to a lot of misinformation and red herrings before FINALLY reaching the solution. It does go on a bit too long and some questions are not really answered fully, but it is a decent read, probably a 3+.

This was so amazing,
Dual POV, lots of mystery to keep me up.
An excellent thriller that kept me up again.
