Interesting thriller with great twists. This book kept me entertained and interested, but I didn't like how every male character was portrayed as a jerk. When I was reading the book, I kept thinking "this author must hate men". Even the women in this book were nasty people. I don't mind morally gray characters, but I do need someone to root for in a book, and there was really no redeemable characters.

THE BUSINESS TRIP is a book you're not going to want to put down. When I finished the first chapter, I knew right away I was going to like this one. The chapters alternate between Jasmine and Stephanie and each of their POV's. I found both of them to be very interesting characters. Maybe Jasmine’s character even a bit more since we learn a great deal more about her and her past. There are a lot of surprises, with some more shocking and more believable than others. Overall, it was a fun read and I can recommend it!

Many thanks to St.Martin's Press and NetGalley for my gifted copy.

This book will be shared to my Instagram account (@coffee.break.book.reviews) in the near future.

The Business Trip was definitely an exciting story which was quick and easy to read. It started off great and I was definitely into it most of the way through the book. However, it ended very abruptly. I really needed more information and would have liked a few more chapters about the twist at the end. Overall it was a pretty good book. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read this book!

This book is thrilling twisty 5 star read for me. Jessie Garcia came to play with this book.

The Business Trip follows Jasmine and Stephanie as they are traveling in a plane to their destination. Everything is seat back and tray tables down until both women go missing, and Trent McCarthy is at the center of it all.

This book was jaw dropping twists that I never saw coming. Garcia handled the multiple POVs beautifully, easy to follow and they weren’t disjointed. When the puzzle pieces started falling into place and the story unraveled, I did not want to put this gem down.

Thank you MacMillian Audio and St Martin’s books for the advanced reader audio and eARC. This book is out January 14, 2025. I promise you will not want to miss out on this addictive read.

Wow, I did not except this wild ride. Actually, I picked up the sec completely blind, and I’m so happy I did. I could not put this book down.

This book is about Stephanie and Jasmine, two women who alive completely different lives. They so happen to sit next to each other on a plane. Stephanie is traveling to a conference, while Jasmine is escaping an abusive relationship. A few days after their flight, they text their friends the same exact messages about the same man. Each message becomes more erratic than the next. Their loved ones start to panic and then suddenly there is silence.

I absolutely loved all the POVs of the book. This allowed for a well rounded story that kept building on each piece. The second half of the book left me completely surprised. When I say the plot took a completely different turn- I absolutely loved it. It was such a clever and unique plot and truly left me so surprised.

I do think I would have liked it to end a little differently, but I still really enjoyed the book. It was a little far fetched but still really appreciated the creativity. There was also a little parts that did overlap a tad, but I still enjoyed immensely.

I want to thank Netgalley, St Martin's Press
for the copy of this book an exchange for an honest review. This book comes out January 14, 2025. If you enjoy thrillers, you need to get a copy.

Thanks to #NetGalley and #StMartinsPress for the book #TheBusinessTrip by #JesseGarcia. Two women on the same plane go missing and the common thing between them is the name Trent McCarthy. One is fleeing a bad relationship and the other is on a business trip for the tv station she works for. Did Trent do something to these girls or is something else going on? Do these girls know each other?

The concept of this book intrigued me - two women on the same flight and both go missing to their friends. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out there was a delightful twist. While some of the elaborate details of this thriller are somewhat improbable, it didn't matter. It ended with a plot twist I did not see coming and realized I missed a clue earlier in the novel. Great page turner.

This book was clever and the pace was building up with suspense.

It was a page turner with satisfying twists and tension.

I didn’t know where the story was going until almost at the end, and it was a jaw dropping moment.

Thank you so much NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thank you Netgalley& St. Martin's Press for an eARC of The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia!

Wow, I flew through this one, it's a truly addictive and unique plot. A really great debut and I did NOT see that 2nd half of the book coming.

The story has multiple POVs, which is always my favorite. First, Stephanie and Jasmine are two women who don't know each other, but are sitting next to each other on a flight from Madison. Stephanie's on a business trip for work, and Jasmine is leaving her abusive boyfriend. Why is it that after a few days, they text their friends the same exact messages about a man named Trent, then both vanish?

Eventually, you get Trent's POV, too. There are several narrators in this one (I alternated between eARC and ALC) - and it's produced SO well. I can't say much more about the plot without giving anything away, but this one WENT THERE. My jaw actually did drop a couple of times, and there wasn't one, two, three, no, there were more twists than I could honestly count. I can't wait to see what this author comes up with next and certainly can't believe it was her debut novel.

This book has exciting elements and definitely kept me interested. The ending changed my opinion a little bit. I didn't like that I was rooting for both women and then one of them ended up being the "bad" one. Still fun, but not my favorite! Thank you, NetGalley.

This book hooked me from start to finish. The fast-paced story had me turning pages nonstop, especially with the way it shifted between different characters' perspectives. What I really appreciated was how the narrative picked up exactly where the last character left off, making it feel seamless and even more intriguing.

The ending was absolutely amazing. The twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time, and I loved being kept guessing. That said, I couldn’t really relate to any of the characters—they weren’t very developed, which might bother some readers. But for me, the story worked despite that.

If you’re looking for a thrilling, fast-paced read that will keep you hooked, this one is definitely worth picking up!

I would like to express my deep gratitude to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for their generosity in allowing me to read this eARC in exchange for an honest review.

So many twists! As someone who reads a lot of thrillers I felt like this storyline was original and unpredictable. I appreciate when an author can make you relate to several characters in a book. I am also a huge fan of multiple viewpoints so I enjoyed that! I look forward to seeing what comes next from this author!

I was ready to give this book five stars. I was so engrossed in the book, until the end. It did not make sense at the end and the dialogue changed. It was as if someone else authored the ending. It is still worth reading.
I received this galley from NetGalley.

The Business Trip was a fun and fast-paced thriller about 2 women, seemingly unconnected both going missing. They’re from two very different backgrounds, which made them fun “dueling MCs”.

I had so many theories - who knew who and who were working together, etc., and was pleasantly surprised by being wrong! Lots of twists and turns, which kept me turning pages.

I will say there were a lot of characters we got to hear from. Like everyone we were introduced to go their own point of view chapters. It was a lot to keep track of, but it made it exciting and I was fully engaged!

A must read!

Thank you to SMP and MacMillan Audio for the review copies of The Business Trip by Jessie Garcia.

TL;DR: An impressive debut! The audiobook is particularly noteworthy, featuring a multi-cast performance that enhances the experience. Recommended for fans of quick, twisty escapes—perfect for readers who enjoyed last year's First Lie Wins.

Content Warning: Readers sensitive to the treatment of women or themes of abusive relationships should approach with care.

Full Review:
The Business Trip is a fun, twisty escape read that delves into cat-and-mouse dynamics and examines women's lives and mistreatment by men. The story boasts complex, memorable characters, making it an impressive debut. I’m excited to see what Jessie Garcia writes next.

The plot is thoughtfully executed and engaging, particularly through the use of multiple characters’ perspectives. This approach shines in the audiobook format, with its excellent voice performances. The pacing is strong overall, and I found myself fully immersed in unraveling the plot and discovering where the story would lead.

Audiobook Highlights:
The voice performances are outstanding. I initially found the portrayal of the main male character a bit over-the-top, but I came to realize it was entirely intentional—and effective. The narrators for the female protagonists were nuanced and engaging, adding depth to their characters. I highly recommend this book in audio format, especially for road trips or holiday travel.

A Few Notes (Spoilers Ahead):
While I enjoyed the plot and pacing overall, some elements felt repetitive in the middle and later sections. Although I understand the intent behind these moments, I found the repetition a bit distracting, as the dual POVs didn’t always add much new information (e.g., texts remain the same regardless of perspective).

Additionally, I wasn’t entirely convinced by the full arc of the story. Why this particular set of crimes instead of a direct escape from the toxic relationship at home? A bit more development of the protagonist’s motivations and the triggering events could have made the story even more compelling.

Wowwww! This book had me completely captured! I had to find out what in the world was going on?! I was not at all prepared. This story took the reader on a ride! This one is best to read without any knowledge. It's not what I thought and as things became apparent, I couldn't read fast enough because it was such a mind bend. If you enjoy thrillers, this book is for you!

Holy Moses …. TBR right now! Just might be in the top 5 of my thriller list of the year. Wow is all I can say. This is one of those books that ends and you didn’t see that coming. It will forever live rent free in my head. If your looking for a thriller to keep you on the edge of your seat, look no farther…

Thanks Netgalley & Macmillan Audio for this advanced readers copy.

The book is written from various points of view, following the "disappearance" of two women; Stephanie and Jasmine. Stephanie has an important job working for a news station. At first, when she doesn't show up at work, her work associates are annoyed with her lack of professionalism. After a few days, something seems off, and her work associates begin to worry. Jasmine is fleeing from an abusive relationship. She has a checkered past and wants to start over with a new life.

I felt the premise of the story was fairly unique as I don't remember ever reading a book with a similar storyline. The book was a quick read with simplistic writing.

There were some twists throughout the book that surprised me. The ending was unpredictable, but I felt it was kind of far-fetched. All in all, this book was an enjoyable read.

Thank you to NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion/review.

Thank you to NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for the advanced copies. I read The Business Trip in two sittings. I couldn’t put it down and needed to know what happened. I had ideas but they were all over the place, and Jessie Garcia did a great job of pulling everything together. This was told from multiple POVs, which did a great job of adding to the tension and mystery, making it even more difficult to figure out what is going on. I highly recommend the audio version, as it is done with a full cast and was simply superb! My only complaint was that the end did start to feel a little info dumpy as we were in a single person's perspective for a while but I think the end makes up for it. With an expected pub date of 1/14/2025, this book will be a great way to kick of 2025 for any thriller lover!

I enjoyed this book. Several different points of view going during the story, but I liked how they all intertwined. I really thought I knew what was going on and then the ending surprised me.
